    humidifier

In 2012, Action Furnace came to clean our ducts and furnaces. At that time, we also installed a brand new humidifier with them. We only noticed just last year that this was actually installed upside down and therefore called them to see if they would reverse it. They were very friendly and professional on the phone but still wanted to charge us for this service. After a bit of discussion, they agreed to follow up on their end and get back to us. Surprisingly, they called us back, agreed and scheduled to come and correct this with a reinstall free of charge. Once again, they were punctual, professional and knowledgeable. The technician also showed my husband how to maintain it. Would gladly give them my business again.

    HVAC

Both Action Furnace technicians who have provided service were excellent - arrived on time and were polite and efficient. In particular Josh was extremely helpful in answering my questions in detail and did so in a very respectful manner.

Furnace & Hot Water Tank Installation

Action Furnace replaced our 31 year old furnace and hot water tank replacement. The Furnace was installed through Genworth's Purchase Plus Improvements Program, when we bought our house. Very happy with the work performed; great guys!! My only concern was the original gas pipe to the BBQ was rejected by the city. I found out Action was not responsible for the line not having a valve at the furnace, or drip pocket at the T (which collects shavings from burning) and we had to have them back to fix the line so the city would pass it. They draw the permits, and that's one they should be aware of, hopefully they will learn from this experience, or at least Brandon will pass it along to the company, so they can fore see it in future, so work can be completed all at once. When the sellers would not grant entry again. they did give me a quote, sight unseen for the furnace and hot water tank to be installed, included in our mortgage through Genworth; so I was super happy they provided that to me, so most of the cost was absorbed for us. The work on the gas line to the BBQ cost only $420.

    Duct Cleaning

Shady Alert!!! Our home is 1.5 years old and we were getting a lot of white dust collecting in our home after the furnace would run so we had Action Furnace come and clean our ducts which cost Four Hundred & Thirty-Eight dollars, when the tech was finished he told us since we were in an area with a lot of construction we should be having our ducts cleaned every year to keep our home clean. 2 days after the cleaning and after completely cleaning the interior of our home and having kept all our windows closed our interior was yet again covered in white dust. We went and removed one of the access panels they had cut in our ducts and checked inside and found quite a lot of sawdust and white drywall dust still inside. We call Action Furnace to let them know they had not cleaned the ducts properly to which we were told that they had cleaned the duct the best that they could with the equipment that they have and that they don't clean construction derby from ducts and that we should expect a dusty home since we have construction going on in our neighbourhood. If they don't clean this sort of dust and derby why did they recommend that we have this done every year since we live in an area with construction? We asked if they don't clean these types of materials from ducts then what exactly was cleaned from our ducts considering our home which is only 1.5 years old and they're reply was "It's hard to tell". We feel very ripped off by Action Furnace and also feel they would keep coming back and charging us the same money even though they know they aren't able clean anything from our particular ducts. We feel we have been mislead and we would not recommend Action Furnace to anyone, if you do use them be sure to have them fully explain what they can & can't clean from your ducts before they start and do a before and after check.

    New furnace

I had my furnace serviced by Action and they determined a replacement was necessary. The salesman was professional and the work was timely. I did find their price a bit high.

    Furnace replacement + AC install

Action Furnace had a deal where buying a high-efficiency furnace would also get an AC installed for $1000. Since our furnace was ancient and overdue for replacement, we decided to go ahead with the replacement and take advantage of the deal. The sales rep told us we'd be receiving a high-efficiency AC, scaling with the type of furnace we bought - we bought a top-of-the-line furnace, but only received the basic model AC. When discussing this with the manager later, he said that they only sell those in Calgary, since the AC season is so short it doesn't make fiscal sense to get a more expensive unit. During the quote for the furnace, the sales rep told us the furnace would be vented through the roof, in the same location the old furnace vented. When the installers arrived, however, they spent several hours deciding where to go. They asked for permission to cut a hole through our wall to make way for a vent into the backyard, through the side of the house. I gave permission for the hole, which they cut - and then decided not to use, going through the roof after all. They patched the hole with a piece of hard plastic. They drilled out through the side of the house to make a pilot hole for the AC's pipes - this tore out a sizeable chunk of stucco from the siding of the house. They didn't use this hole, instead drilling a different hole underneath, and plugged up the pilot hole with silicon. When later asked to repair the damage, the original installer came out, somewhat surly, and patched it with white stucco - the original stucco was grey. His excuse - he didn't bring any grey stucco with him. They also ripped out a section of the wall (ripped, not cut) to gain access to the drain, which they claimed 'wasn't fixable' because the pipe was in the way. Last, but not least, I paid for vent cleaning, which was not done. The installers said that they like the new furnace to settle in before they clean the vents, but they never came back. When I called in to ask when it was going to happen, I was told they don't clean vents during their busy season (fall + winter). I've patiently waited and haven't heard a peep since, and the summer has come and gone. The deal seemed good, but they padded the price elsewhere and it seems to have worked out the same as if I paid full price for the AC. Given the quality of work of the installers and the damage done to my house, I wish I'd gone with a different company.

    A/C Installation

Excellent! Called for a quote and a few days later Ryan showed up. He did a through check of our home to determine the required A/C cooling size. He was very knowledgeable and personable and when we were done we knew that going with Action was a good choice. A day before the scheduled installation Ryan called and informed us that they had no stock on the A/C unit we were to have installed. He offered us a free upgrade to the next model ($650). When the installation day arrived there were 4 installers who were all very polite and efficient. They completed the job in the estimated time of 3.5 hours. When they were done I was given a detailed explanation of how the system works and we reviewed all the components. They had all the paperwork in order and went through a final checklist too. I highly recommend Action Furnace.
