    Fence painted

I needed to get my fence painted this year because it was really starting to become and eyesore. On recommendation from a friend, I contacted Student Works Painting. A young lady named Lauren was able to come over and provide a quote. I found the quote reasonable and went ahead with the service. The fence was painted in an accetabke amount of time and the workmanship was top notch. My fence looked great AND I was able to provide some work for university students. Win-win.

    Painting exterior of my home

The problem with Student Works Painting is that the quality of the work depends on the students who happen to be hired for that project. In my case, the student in charge was well intentioned, but the actual work done by the painters hired was of extremely poor quality. Even though the project was "finished", I am still noticing sections that received no paint at all. Just yesterday I found a 3 foot section of the fascia which had not been painted or primed, and was still in its "prepared" state. This should not happen in a professional job; I should not be forced to inspect every inch (especially the sections that I cannot reach on a ladder). The sections are then painted when I discover them, but then I find more. An unsatisfactory experience, to say the least. While the students were courteous and prompt, this does not compensate for substandard work. Unless you have references for the particular student in charge, be wary.

    Paint my home

The house was badly sprayed and had to be rolled out. We did that ourselves. The biggest problem came later when it started to peel. It took two years for the owner to respond and because I had touched it up with a half liter of paint because of the terrible appearance they absolved themselves of all responsibility.

    House Painting

Our contact originally started as a door to door describing the company, student organized company venturing into painting. I liked their determination and asked for their service. Very polite and patient. I was the one late for our appointments, they waited each time. They provide tips for maintaining the work far beyond expectations,

    alluminum siding

very polite estimate and hard working .They took a day to mask entire house ,no problem yet ,the weather didnt help them either . When the alluminum siding was given the first coat ,a few drips showed up ,after a touch up with the roller orange peel on sising was left . I sanded for 8hours to repair blemishes in siding , the second coat was no better lots of runs which i marked to show them the runs more students came to assist and sand them out and repair the runs ,later when cleaning the sprayer old paint was in the nozzel tip ,not helping the end result. I will say they did work hard ,but only because they had to repair and sand lots of runs .I am somewhat satisfied ,but the project itself wqas stressfull ,im still cleaninf overspray off my vinyl deck ,hand rails ,

    full exterior job

Please read and stay with me, it is worth your time. So you may consider this part one of two, it better had be just two parts to it by the end! To give you a base line of my unhappiness currently my parents have hired Student Works to paint the exterior of their house. My father is away on business so they asked me to be around for the duration of the job while my mother is at work during the day, myself a student though older than the average; I have a successful history with renovation and construction work so consider myself of adequate knowledge. We are not happy, though they have the chance to rectify the work the initial quality in plain English "just sucks" I will list the issues my 10 minute walk around brought up :- All downspouts from 2nd story to ground only fastened at the top, overspray everywhere, touch up not finished, two sides of the house do not appear to have 2 coats even after countless times of asking, tape and paper pieces left ground to roof, front of house 2nd floor is a joke (literally I laughed at it), Neighbour complained about workers (one in particular swearing never said hello and was always complaining, also I don't think they realised I was often in the garage while they were painting and could hear a lot! In fact it would be my recommendation to fire her!) So this is what they considered finished, The neighbour that complained is interested in painting his house, liked the price until I mentioned that they think they are finished where he also laughed I read the list and he shook his head something tells me he won't be hiring this company and neither will we again. Now like I said they have the opportunity to fix this as per there guarantee but the initial level of quality for what they perceived to be a finished job is ridiculous I’m sorry to say just not even anywhere good enough and that is my issue it's not the fact that it's not finished it's the quality of the end result. The biggest concern is that we don't believe they have put two coats on when they have said they definitely have - I can see the old paint colour in places, the new paint is patchy and lacking full depth of colour, all signs of poor surface prep and a lack of enough paint/coats. It's bad enough for me to have had to step in on this and it isn't my house my family also have another house which we rent and is also in need of painting, looks like they just missed out on two jobs as well as our recommendation what’s that roughly $5000-$6000 in sales for those two jobs. Also it seemed to take them a long time to get such a bad job done. My parents just had a very nice new hot tub delivered which they, the crew, decided to use as there meeting area and table which my father had to ask them and then again not to use it as their personal space as it is brand new. I painted the inside of this same house every wall on both floors and the basement min two coats all round a lot of wall space and I was done in under a week and worked completely alone no help and they had 2-5 people and all the gear to make it easy. They started last Sunday turning up at dinner time to wash the house, oh and by the way that was mother’s day Sunday, mother’s day I can't believe they show up at dinner time on mother’s day, really! they wrecked the plans myself and my girlfriend had made for my mother, it is now Thursday and this is where we are at so coming up to a weeknow. They have less to paint, more people, better gear, supposed skills and all they did was a bad job. Can't wait to have this conversation when they come back to get paid this evening! They had better fix this, the job and the client relationship. I am a student, what kind of publicity does that give us as students that were lazy don't care and that we have no commitment to what we are doing. I also noted that there was another review which was similar to mine in its view and also happened to be 30 mins down the road in the next town, hmmmm! My parents work very hard and long hours and have been careful and saved their money well to be able to afford these things and I will not stand by and let them be ripped off. Tell you what student works I'll come paint your houses, do you like bad graffiti? Or should I forward this to the BBB. Like I have said this job is not complete whether they think it is or not my goal was to provide an immediate and up to date review of what they considered a finished job, I do honestly hope that they fix this up to a standard that is acceptable, and that my part two will be more complimentary to their professionalism on rectifying this. With Kind regards.

    Painting

They are cheap and they offer a lot of services that make it extremely attractive. They offer warranty on the paint. They were able to do all the painting within a few days during the summer. I would recommend this.

    Exterior home painting

Professional and courteous painters. Job completed to expectation and overall was satisfied with what we got for what we paid for. Main problems stemmed from timeliness and lack of clear agenda - sometimes painters would show up, sometimes they would not and time estimates were never too accurate, understanding that setbacks could occur. Also painter damaged a portion of my wall through powerwashing - although they took responsibility and replaced it for me. I would consider getting a quote from them in the future again for any work, and recommending others to do the same, but to shop carefully and ask for work references. They are OK on the lower-mid end of the price range but not for much higher as you're essentially getting college students on minimum wage to paint your home.

    Extrior trim painting

Hired them because of their company policy and the fact that they would guaranteed their work. Unfortunately, the painters were sloppy and did not use tarps (as promised in their work description). This resulted in paint spills being left on our vinyl deck for a few days before it was cleaned up. The product they used to clean off the spilled paint actually took the finish off our deck material. They suggested painting the vinyl, however this was unacceptabl as the deck was in excellent shape and still had at least 10 years left to its life. The end result was that Student Works had to replace the entire vinyl surface of our deck. This cost them close to $2,500. After 1 year some of the paint around the door frames is peeling off. This is due to the fact that they did not prep the frames correctley. I will not be using them to correct this problem (even thought they guarantee their work for 3 years) as I do not want to have more unqualified painters working on my home. I would not recommend this company.

    Paint condo

I had my Mom's condo painted in August and I was told there would be 5 painters and it would take 2 eight hour days to complete the job. After day one, I got a call saying they were finished. I looked at the walls and was surprised to see that they only did one coat and missed a lot of spots. They came back and when I went the next day, there was paint on the kitchen cupboards, 5 dining room chairs, the table, and the curtains. I moved furniture out today and discovered paint on the carpet, dishwasher, and some unfinished places. It appears as though they purposely hid their mistakes. I opened the bedroom curtains and found 3 big blobs of paint that was left to run and dry. These painters did an extremely sloppy job and put no care or effort in their workmanship. I will never use your company again and I will be posting this on multiple websites advising against using your company.
