An amazing job and work ethic

Richard and his team are amazing. I hired them to move my A/C from one side of the house to the other as well as install a new and bigger furnace to accommodate the renovation that we are undertaking. His expert advice helped us make a decision as to what the size of the furnace should be as well as how we can move all the vents and A/C. Richard also made a couple of recommendations for other people that could help in other areas of the renovation and I must say I have not been disappointed. All the people that I have worked with and that Richard has recommend have been top quality and expert craftsmen in their respective fields. I/We would highly recommend hiring Richard and his Team.

    Air Conditioning Repair

Excellent service! Recommended 100%. Richard answered our phone call right away and came to check our air conditioning within a couple of hours. Very professional and knowledgeable, he clearly explained what was the malfunction and repaired it immediately as he had the replacement piece on his truck. The AC is now working beautifully. Richard also gave us tips on how to maintain the AC. Thank you so much!

    Honest Air Conditioner Repair

This is a tale of two service calls. The first took place on Thursday, August 9. We were on vacation, and we heard from the tenant in our basement apartment that there was water coming out of our furnace room. They found that water was pooling underneath the furnace and we suspected a problem with the A/C. So, we called an HVAC Contractor in Mississauga (Homestars won't let us use this name) and scheduled a service call for the following day. The first Service Tech found that the A/C water pan had overflowed, the runoff pipe was clogged. He cleaned it out, and water started to flow through the drain again. He then went to check the A/C itself and indicated that we might have a leak as the level refrigerant was low. He asked is if we wanted to top it off for now, then schedule another service call to find the source of the leak. Something didn't feel right about this advice, but, given that we were away, we felt that we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. We told him to fill it but decided to leave the A/C off until our return on Sunday, August 11. Our tenant is in a cooler part of the house (basement), and since we weren't home, there wasn't a need to cool down the other living area. The Service Tech told us also to clean the A/C unit and open some of the registers we had closed to increase circulation across the house. We returned on Sunday, and I cleaned the A/C unit and opened the registered as instructed. We then restarted the A/C and monitored the furnace room to make sure we had no further leaks. Everything looked good for a couple of days. Then the A/C unit stopped cooling. While inspecting the unit, I noticed it made a higher pitch sound when operating and the compressor would intermittently shut off (that explained the lack of cooling). After living with this for about a week, I started looking for another HVAC company to give us a second opinion. The second service call took place on Monday, August 19. I found Core Temp on Homestars after reading a similar issue one of their customer's had (requiring a second opinion from a previous service call). I spoke with Richard at Core Temp on Monday morning, and he and Eric showed up about an hour later. These Gents are real professionals. They identified the problems right away. First, the underlying cause for the leak in the basement wasn't because we were low on refrigerant. The first Service Tech misdiagnosed the problem entirely. We had a faulty high-pressure switch (not low refrigerant). It was stuck and caused ice build-up. When the ice melted, the water pan overflowed. Core Temp repaired the electrical problem and also discovered that the first Service Tech overfilled the refrigerant (we weren't low in the first place), and it had to be reclaimed (and returned to a safe level). If it wasn't, it would only have been a matter of time before the compressor would have blown (costing us $2K+ in potential repairs). Within 30 minutes he had the unit repaired and running optimally. Given that our HVAC system is about 12-years old, I asked Richard what he thought about replacing it. His advice, save our money, the repair should give it additional years of service. He even called to follow-up today and see how things were going (perfectly I might add). Take my advice; if something seems fishy, go with your gut. I will never do business with the first company we contacted again. Core Temp is my HVAC professional of choice from now on!

    Honesty. Integrity. Knowledgeable.

The short review: There is no better heating and cooling company out there than Coretemp. They came in got the problem diagnosed and fixed quickly. They also took the time to inform and educate me what exactly happened and why my AC unit wasn't working, so that in the future I can be a more informed and knowledgeable homeowner. They do the job right the first time and never pressure you to forego a repair and sell you a furnace and AC instead. I will ALWAYS call Richard and his team at Coretemp for all my HVAC concerns. Truly a gem of a person and company! Long Review: My central AC unit outside broke down on the weekend (August 2019) and I have two young children, so I really just wanted someone to come quickly and fix the issue so I ended up calling AtlasCare to diagnose the problem. The technician told me that my "low pressure switch is stuck open" and would be a costly repair. He also said given my unit is 14 years old, it would be better to buy a new AC instead of a costly repair. After he left, something didn't feel right, and I decided to get a second opinion (especially if I had to spend thousands of dollars on an AC) and I called Coretemp because they were highly rated on Homestars. Richard and his team came and diagnosed that an earwig got caught underneath the contactor which did not allow power to continue onto the unit (see picture). Not only that, he said my AC unit does NOT HAVE A LOW PRESSURE SWITCH! He diagnosed and fixed my AC in 10 mins! Coretemp saved me and my family thousands of dollars by repairing my AC and not having to replace it entirely. You want an honest, reliable and knowledgeable HVAC company? Coretemp is your answer. Seriously.

    New air conditioner installation

Richard and his team were positive right from the start. Great communication through the entire process. Got a few quotes but easily felt the most comfortable with Core Temp. It was a great choice-they did excellent work, went above and beyond really, didnt just replace evaporator, they put it in a better position within furnace to optimize air flow. And they left no question unanswered. Very happy with the service. Great guys Mike

    Furnace and A/C replacement

After 19 years our furnace and A/C unit were nearing the end of their life. Richard and his team had come out the previous couple of summers to basically band-aid what we knew were eventually a full replacement of both units. We had that done this June and, as with his previous visits and advice, Richard and team were the consummate professionals on all levels. They arrived on time, were considerate, asked me questions and shared information about the new units along the way, and pointed out the inside of our old furnace and the areas it was deteriorating. In the end, Richard and his team replaced both furnace and A/C, which have been excellent; quiet, powerful and efficient and I would recommend CoreTemp highly for their honesty, advice and professional solutions.

    Exceeded all expectations

Requiring a new ac system I went to Homestars to research the top companies. After contacting the top 4 rated companies we decided to move forward with Coretemp. The sales process was consultative not hard pressure and the price was very reasonable. Richard and his team exceeded all my expectations through on installation process. I will definitely use Coretemp in the future and strongly recommend his company to anyone requiring HVAC products.

    Heating and Air Conditioning

We just had our air conditioner and furnace replaced by Coretemp and we're thrilled! Richard with Coretemp came over a few years ago to make some HVAC repairs. His explanation of what was required and the quick, neat and clean work caused us to call him again several years later. Again this time, Richard and his colleagues responded quickly, provided answers to all my questions, and completed a very neat and clean installation. I would definitely call them again!

    AC purchase and installation

I had done furnace replacement through Coretemp last year and found his pricing to be the most reasonable, so when it came time for AC servicing I had Richard do the servicing rather than my prior company. The unit I had was older and used an older refrigerant which is now quite expensive to replace what could be lost during the repair. . Richard was also quite frank in his assessment of the old unit and told me that he could attempt the servicing but that if the valves were leaking as suspected it would be expensive and that he could not guarantee there would not be more issues, as it sounded like the bearings might also be worn and I could be spending significant $ on a unit that might not last. While this is not what i wanted to hear, I trusted Richard's judgement and a few days later went ahead with purchasing a new unit from Richard. The installation went smoothly and quickly and I am now enjoying my new AC as summer had finally arrived. I trust this company and have found they offer some of the best prices around for comparable quality products . You may find a lower price from some companies, but you will also be getting a lower quality line of products.

    Air Conditioner purchase + installation

We asked Richard to quote on the purchase and installation of a new central A.C. unit for our home. He was able to provide a ballpark figure over the phone, and then confirmed the price following a site visit, during which he readily explained which options were most suitable based on our home's square footage and HVAC system configuration. When the time came to install (just three days later), Richard and Eric were both extremely professional and paid great attention to detail. They noticed that the evaporator coil that came with the unit had a minor defect, so returned to their office to get a new one. Likewise, they helped to diagnose a coincidental, secondary problem with our HVAC system (unrelated to the work they'd be contracted for), and were able to recommend another contractor who quickly and ably performed that work.
