    Lennox SLP98UH installed

If you are searching for someone to service your furnace/AC, or do a new install, let me save you some time... Call Richard at Coretemp. I got my new. Lennox installed today, and I am thrilled with his excellent work, honesty, and fair price. Richard gives you that personal touch that is sooo missing from the big companies. More importantly, if anything were to go wrong, I know I can pick up the phone and he will be there to help. HIGHLY recommended.

    Furnace service call

I just had the most remarkable furnace service call experience! The owner, Richard Payer and one of his team (I'm so sorry I forgot your name) were amazing. I had had a service call with another local HVAC company about 3 weeks ago and was appalled at the poor service and in particular that the technician tried to charge me more than the heavily advertised price of a service call. The furnace didn't seem to be working right after that service call with the other company, so I wanted a second opinion. I'd seen the Core Temp van around Oakville, read the positive reviews on Homestars and called for an appointment. Richard answered the call himself, and was able to come by a few hours later since he was in the neighbourhood. To say I was stunned is an understatement! Richard is a very knowledgeable and competent expert who immediately diagnosed the problem with the furnace, gave me an honest opinion about the potential need for a new furnace and provided an explanation of everything as he went along. Needless to say, I’ll be getting my new furnace installed by Core Temp as well as a new air conditioner in the spring. I cannot say enough about the positive experience. The price range quoted for a new furnace and air conditioner is competitive IMHO and I am happy to pay a bit more for a positive experience with someone who is trustworthy and reliable. And they were very pleasant too; nice guys DO finish first. I’ve never been so pleased; highly recommend Core Temp.

    New central AC and humidifier

I am more than pleased with the service we received from Richard and Erik at CoreTemp. After removing an old deck from our home we wanted to replace our poorly maintained, poorly placed central AC unit. Richard was very honest and knowledgeable. Although we were ready to replace the unit Richard let us know that the unit had some life left in it and if we just wanted to move the unit it would not cost us as much. We chose to go ahead with a replacement. As we were having some landscaping done the hole for the lines needed to be moved to a higher position on the wall. Richard and Erik took care to not damage our double bricked wall and offered to fill the old hole for us. They also installed a humidifier and whilst doing so came across a few minor issues that the previous hvac company missed when they were here to clean our ducts and service our furnace just a few weeks earlier. These little 'surprises' did not cost us anything extra. CoreTemp was prompt, professional, through, incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I was able to ask questions (many questions!) and was never made to feel dumb or like I was being a bother. After they were done everything was put back and tidied as if they had never been here. 10 + Thanks guys!

    Furnace install

Our home purchase in 2011 was equipped with the original furnace installed, 20+ years ago. A replacement was on the "To Do" list and after reviewing furnace brands and HomeStars listed contractors, I contacted CoreTemp regarding a furnace replacement. Richard was out of town attending a conference. However, that evening, Richard returned my call while on conference in the US and inquired about our original install! How many contractors do that? We talked Furnaces for about 20 minutes. He offered an estimate on replacement and arranged an appointment to inspect the furnace on his return. I was impressed. The following week, Richard arrived on time and had a look at our furnace. He said he knew this model of furnace well and from past experience, he suspected that we probably had cracks starting on the back side of the heat exchanger and suggested replacement as quoted. I had another quote arranged but assured Richard that I would be in touch. In the mean time as luck would have it, the following week we had a "no heat" situation and called Reliance for the repair. I had their Protection Plan and the service was included. The tech replaced the high limit switch and installed a jumper that was not reinstalled during a previous service call. Concerned about Richard's thoughts on the heat exchanger, I had the Reliance tech perform a carbon monoxide test. He did not diagnose any issues. I hesitated. Did I really need to replace this furnace? Richard's concern about the heat exchanger seemed genuine. We decided to replace the furnace as planned and selected CoreTemp for the install. During the install, Richard called me to the basement. He had the old furnace removed and wanted to point out not one, but THREE cracks on the exchanger, exactly where he suspected they would be! Having a family of his own, Richard indicated that we had made a wise decision on the replacement, despite the results of an inadequate test performed by Reliance. The work performed by Richard and crew was clean and professional and he has impressed me with his courteous, almost "small town" like, customer service. I look forward to having them back for annual maintenance because I'm confident that when they inspect, it truly will be "peace of mind" protection.

    Furnace

The service and product provided was excellent. They even went above and beyond and added some needed ducts. I appreciated their honesty and attitude. Also liked that they cleaned up after the work. Cathy

    Furnace Repair

Our RUUD furnace was blowing air but had no heat. Had called around for same day service but had no luck. I spoke to Richard and he was very re-assuring on the phone and even tried to troubleshoot over the phone. Called him at 9:30AM & they were at my door by noon! I'm very happy with his prompt, courteous and friendly service. Core Temp is highly recommended! Thanks, Richard!

    Furnace repair

Yesterday afternoon, I noticed the furnace had conked out. I phoned Richard and he answered immediately. Since I was able to give him the service code displayed on the furnace, he was able to diagnosis the problem, order the part and have it installed with the furnace fixed and pumping out heat by 8:00 this morning. Can't beat that service!

Install tankless water heater; replace AC and gas furnace

When we moved in, we asked Richard to inspect our furnace and AC to ensure everything was working properly. He took the time to explain how everything worked in layman's terms, and took the time to show us what was wrong with both units. We ended up changing everything, and installing a tankless water heater. We were more than pleased with the prompt service and quality of his work. We are also very pleased with the recommended products. Finally, I was truly impressed when I listened to Richard work with his apprentices, taking his time to explain everything in details - it definitely tells you something about him! We have had MANY trades come through our house in the last year, and our experience with Richard was by far the best one!

New Furnace, Humidifier, iComfort Thermostat, Evaporator Coil

My wife and I are new home owners and knew we needed a new furnace moving into our new place. We called around with lukewarm feelings about providers until a friend referred us to Coretemp. They answered all of our questions, and we had a lot. Richard did a great job explaining to us what we needed to know and helped us pick the right product for our home. Other providers tried to shove the cheapest product down our throat in order to compete on price without any real regards to what we actually needed. The installation was completed professionally and cleanly. Richard pointed out the work he did and again, explained everything. The furnace is up and running quietly and smoothly. We decided on a Lennox product with the iComfort system and it is a beaut! I would recommend Coretemp to anyone looking for quality, professional service, at a competitive price. Another important part of the experience for us was the friendly customer service Coretemp provides compared to the informal, 'you're just another customer' feeling you may get with the bigger guys.

    Heating & Air Conditioning

The best service we’ve had in years. I’d highly recommend Richard at CoreTemp. We had an older AC unit and a furnace that was about 25 yrs old and we were on a service plan with Direct Energy. In August our AC stopped working, the fan was working but there was no airflow through the vents. The coil inside the furnace had basically turned into a block of ice due to low coolant caused by a minor leak in the system. To fix it Direct Energy said they had a time available the following week, they would charge about $900 for a full diagnostic check of the system just to find the leak (not covered by their plan), and it would take about 4-5 hours which would have meant taking at least a half day off work. The same day I checked Homestars and noticed Nathan’s review on CoreTemp who had a similar problem. I called Richard, he came over the same day about 6 pm, found the problem in about 5 minutes due to his years of experience in the business, fixed it in about 20 minutes and charged about $200, a savings of at least $700. Richard earned my trust very quickly so a few weeks later we had him install a new AC and furnace system. He did an excellent job with his crew and Janice provided excellent admin support arranging the time and helping us maximize our rebates. We cancelled our plan with Direct Energy, we’ll call Richard if any service is required in the coming years. Richard knows his stuff, is upfront and honest and charges a fair price. You won’t go wrong with CoreTemp.
