While renovating our basement, we noticed a few cracks in the exterior walls and water seeping in. We hired a contractor who injected high pressure epoxy into the cracks to repair them from the inside. However, at the end of it all we still had damp sections of wall. It became apparent that trying to repair the problem from the inside was futile. The real solution was to waterproof the walls on the outside. This meant excavating down to the footings around the entire house. A large and costly undertaking to say the least. For this reason, we wanted to make sure we hired the right contractor for the job.
We met with several contractors before selecting Aquamaster. We were very impressed with Fedor’s knowledge and professionalism. He explained the scope of work required to complete the project, discussed the pros and cons of different materials that could be used, developed a plan and a timeline to complete the project and provided us with a written estimate. Fedor wasn’t just the guy who came to give us an estimate. He was very hands on throughout the whole process.
Aquamaster arrived with their crew to start the job on the date and time as promised. The crew were employees of Aquamaster and not a subcontractor. They were friendly, hardworking and competent. They took care to protect the work areas as well as the areas surrounding the excavation site. As the work progressed, Fedor kept in touch on a regular basis providing us with updates and reviewing the site to ensure that the job was completed properly.
As with any construction project, there were some challenges; poor weather, poor soil conditions, very limited access and constricted work spaces to name a few. It is how the contractor deals with these challenges that matters. Fedor and the Aquamaster crew completed the project on time in spite of the challenges. They did a superb job on the water proofing as well as the cleanup of the worksite and surrounding areas.
