I knew I needed custom cabinetry work done but was intimidated by sourcing out the jobs I needed. Steven's reviews here were great but the work I needed seemed small in comparison to what I saw. In a small house in Toronto, storage is at a premium and I had 3 different small areas to address. I am VERY happy with Black Forest's work. On time. On budget (competitive). Precise work done off-site and diligent fitting installation. VERY clean work. Black Forest took the time to protect all floors they needed to go about to do their work, sawed outside for minimum dust inside, and left everything perfectly fitted and clean. I didn't even have to touch-up paint after install, even in very fitted spaces. And 2 pieces were going up black walls of all things! I was amazed. A small wipe down and that was it! Stephen took time to listen to my ideas and made his professional suggestions which improved on what I was thinking. I will recommend Steven and Black Forest to friends and family every chance I get.

Steven recently designed and installed a wall of built-ins in our dining room. We are absolutely thrilled with the work. The cabinetry was exactly what we wanted – the craftsmanship is great, the cost was reasonable, the installation was quick and tidy, and he and his colleague even installed them ahead of schedule. Steven said halfway through the installation (when I mentioned how great they looked) that when he was finished, we'd be even more pleased, and he was right. I had high expectations and he exceeded them. I would recommend Black Forest or hire them again in a second. Thank you!

We called Steven to give us a quote for an entertainment unit for a large empty wall in our condominium. He came promptly, took the measurements and gave us a price. We contracted with him right away. Not because of the price, but rather because of the confidence he instilled. He gave us a time frame and true to his word, he called just before his projected date to inform that the project was completed. A date for installation was agreed upon. Steven arrived on time (this was important as we had to book the elevator in our condo). He and his assistant spent the day installing the unit. They did an amazing job. After installation, the entire area was cleaned up and it was as if no one had been in but a beautiful entertainment unit was left behind. I absolutely love it!! I would highly recommend Steven for this type of work. Beautiful, beautiful results. Thank you Steven and all the very best to you.

Stephen and his staff did an amazing job with built in cabinetry in our family room, basement (solid maple) and upstairs hallway. He took the time to listen to our ideas and was able to design and build exactly what we were looking for. The work was performed on time and the price was very competitive. Stephen took the time to colour match the stain of the maple cabinetry in the basement to match a pre-existing bar. The match was outstanding. He and his staff were neat and efficient and were a pleasure to deal with. We were very satisfied with the final result. I cannot recommend his company highly enough - you will not be disappointed. The cost above is for all three pieces of work.

We had a *fantastic* experience all around from first contact via email to the final delivery and installation. Steven is a professional in all aspects of his business and treated this project as if we were the only one on the go (clearly not the case but his personal involvement made us feel that way). We reached out to several contractors for estimates on the work and Steven was by-far the most responsive and helpful. Steven was on-time throughout the process including the initial consultation, follow-up visit to finalize measurements, removal of the existing mantel and finally the delivery and installation. During the initial consultation and measurement visits he was very helpful in finalizing what we had in-mind including how to setup the electronics efficiently which was one of our goals. He hit the deadline we requested with a few days to spare and charged exactly what we agreed to previously. We cannot say enough about the finished product - the workmanship is exceptional. High quality woods and hardware were used and the finishing process that Steven employs results in a stunning look that is both beautiful and durable. We would not hesitate to use Steven and Black Forest Woodworking again in the future and would gladly recommend their services.

I originally hired Steve because of the excellent reviews on Homestars. Steve came to the house to discuss the project on several occasions with no commitment because I wanted a perfect job. Steve helped me so much, as he really knows his business. His price was not the lowest, but I just knew that I would get a product I love, and I did. Steve and his crew were amazing to work with: professional and honest. I recommend starting to plan your project ahead of time, as it was quite a while from planning to fruition, but it was well worth the wait.

We hired Steven for a built-in wall unit in our living room. The finished product is spectacular! Stevens attention to detail along with that of his crew is amazing. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Thanks again Stephen and Crew!

We recently renovated and contacted Istvan (Steve) to complete some woodworked pieces for our home. Steve is extremely professional, kind and skilled. He truly listens and offers fantastic suggestions. Steve's crew shares his professionalism, skills and values. Steve completed and installed two bathroom vanities and a living room display case (in which a painting will be hung) for us all out of cherry veneer with solid wood doors. We are anxiously awaiting Steve to complete the largest piece, a wall unit surrounding a gas fireplace. We will post an update once this project has been completed but have no doubt that it will prove to be as beautiful and elegant as the first three pieces. I am compelled to write a write a review complimenting Istvan (Steven) and his team on our beautiful and well-built custom built-in cabinetry! The whole process, from meeting with us to discuss our needs and likes/dislikes, to the design and finally the installation was pleasant, seamless and well-done. Istvan (Steven) provided excellent customer service, listening, providing his expertise, communicating, and ensuring his installers were thorough and clean. He has great attention to detail, both in the design and installation, and follows the old adage "measure twice, cut once". Istvan is definitely a skilled carpenter and this is evident in the product he delivers. We love our built-ins and have received many compliments on them. His prices are very reasonable and he will definitely work with you to find a solution to fit your budget. Black Forest Woodworking definitely provides quality products at fair prices - great value, in our opinion. I found Black Forest Woodwork on Home Star web site. I needed few things to do but was not sure on design. Steven helped me with suggestions offering different options with different pricing. Work included crown moulding on bathroom vanity, and custom shelves in the basement. Once everything was installed I was impressed with quality of work. I LOVE everything they did and how they did.
