We moved into an older house and were looking to update a few features. I wanted to replace the old stone fireplace with a large white mantel, and build a wall-to-wall custom entertainment unit. After shopping around for quotes, I didn't think I would be able to do both, because of the cost. I found Steven on Homestars, and had him in to take a look. His quote was considerably more reasonable than others, and his work looked great. We decided to proceed with the projects. Throughout the process Steven was incredible to work with. Not only from an execution perspective, but also in the design phase. His experience with fireplace mantels proved valuable, as he was able to tweak my design with the best proportions and finishes. The finished product is amazing - we have already been asked for his contact information from friends. I highly recommend Steven - you won't find better work!

We contacted Black Forest Woodworking shortly after we purchased our home to build a custom shelving unit and new fireplace mantel. Steven was wonderful to work with - he was extremely professional and detail oriented. We are very pleased with the final product and would highly recommend him.

We chose Black Forest Woodworking after getting estimates from other cabinet companies. We liked the designs and felt very comfortable working with Steven. We knew what we wanted but needed the expertise to help pull the design together. Steven was very patient and helpful. When it came time for installation, the job was done in one day. They worked neatly and answered all questions I had. When it was done we were blown away how fantastic it looked. We really liked the quality and craftsmanship so much that we have contracted Steven to do another built in unit with fireplace mantel for our basement. No need to look any further, for quality and craftsmanship Black Forest Woodworking is our recommendation.

We hired this company to install built-in's. They know exactly what they are doing and have a good sense of what would suit the room. The closets were just installed and they look amazing. The crew that came to install were efficient and friendly. I wanted to cover a bigger area, but Steven's suggestion that a more compact set of cabinets would be enough, was in the end, the right call. They paid attention to detail and are classic craftsmen; it's difficult to find these days.

Steven built and installed shelving in our basement for TV components, books, and bar bottles. Dimensions approx 38" high by about 13 feet long along the end wall of our rec room. Let me say the quality is outstanding and the workmanship stellar. I am very picky but was thoroughly impressed by the fine detail, right down to the caulking. The shelf top was made from MDF wood, I think, but looks and feels like caesarstone! Would not hesitate to hire again to do work for the most prominent room in our house.

We've had a few hits and misses using HomeStars, but Steven and his team knocked it out of the park. Their attention to detail is top notch. They were able to construct the built-ins around our existing mantle with an end result which looks like it is a single unit. On top of that, they were completed weeks in advance of the timeframe discussed at our initial consultation. We could not be happier and would wholeheartedly recommend Steven and his team at Black Forest Woodworking and will definitely use them again in the future.

In April, Steven and his crew constructed a wall of open shelving in my sitting room. The unit was put up in just one day as it had been pre-built in his workshop from careful measurements he had taken earlier. Steven was courteous, friendly and a skillful craftsman. When I decided to move my sound system on to the unit, he obligingly returned a few days later to drill the necessary holes. Now, 5 months on, I continue to love the unit. Not only is it an attractive sturdy piece of furniture, but it holds an incredible array of items: all my books, plants, a mini-bar, numerous storage baskets, speakers, CDs......the list goes on. All in all a terrific organizer. Thank you, Steven!

It was a pleasure to deal with Steven. He designed and built a very large wall unit for us. He took very detailed measurements on his first visit, sent a design a day or so later and then arrived 6 weeks later with his crew to do the installation over 2 days. The wall unit is stunning and the quality of the workmanship is very high. His crew was professional and very clean. We have asked him to quote on a second unit for the basement. Steven sets a high standard for his work and is a pleasure to deal with.

Steven built and installed our fireplace surround/mantle today. Both my husband and I are thrilled with the finished product. It has completely transformed our existing fireplace. The mantle was built and fitted in exactly the time frame we were given. Great job, thanks again Steven.
