Steven did a great job of building a new fireplace mantle for me an my mother. His work is fantastic. I had no idea what I wanted but he made an excellent recommendation. I would not hesitate to recommend this company and would certainly use them again. Thanks again for my beautiful mantle.

After many unsuccessful attempts at trying to simply get a quote from other cabinet / millwork providers, I gave up utilizing the traditional approach and found HomeStars. I found Steven's company BlackForest with excellent reviews and gave him a call. Steven not only answered the call, but promptly came out to see the project and give me a price. I showed him some pictures I found on-line about what I wanted and he tweaked those to conform to my space. He was upfront with me and told me that the work would take "X" amount of weeks as they were busy and promised it would all be done by end June - July. I awarded him the work, and cross my fingers. Steven kept me up to date of the work in progress during the build phase which I found nice as I knew exactly what was going on and stuck to the dates as promised. His team completed the work just yesterday, and it came out amazing. I am sure Steven will post some pics of my bar soon and you will see the quality and workmanship yourself. I highly recommend them - their quality and level of detail is excellent and most importantly they stick to their dates, keep you up dated and return phone calls. Simple old fashion business ethics - something that is really hard to find in this day and age. Steven - congratulations on your success and I look forward in working with you again in the near future. 10+

Recently engaged Steven to build and install custom shelving/cabinetry in our living room, involving a fireplace mantle, various door styles and accommodations for a flatscreen TV. The installation and the end product were perfect.

We have recently hired Steven to built a window bench (in our kitchen) as well as a fireplace mantel (with build in bookcases) in our rec-room (basement). Steve did an outstanding job. He was meticulous, punctual, and neat. I was very impressed with his systematic approach to the design. He made suggestions with respect to both the design and finish and he delivered excellent results. I recommend him without any reservation and I plan to use Black Forest woodworking in my next project.

I had two corner fireplace mantels built and Steven and his crew did a FANTASTIC job on both - they've totally changed the look of the fireplaces. There was intricate work required on one of the mantels due to is proximity to the window and trim and the outcome is outstanding. I would highly recommed Black Forest Woodworking.

We were very happy with the experience of working with Steven. He was helpful throughout the process and made useful suggestions in relation to both the design and finish. Steven was referred to me by a friend who had hired Steven to build their living room custom cabinets (which I loved!). We've worked with multiple tradesmen for our fixer upper home and have often been disappointed by their service and quality of work. So, we were pleasantly surprised by the level of service and quality of work delivered by Steven. He's extremely friendly and was very helpful and responsive from the initial consultation to the final installation. We LOVE out new cabinets and the quality of Steven's work is fantastic. We found his prices to be very reasonable and were very pleased with how quickly he was able to deliver our cabinets while still maintaining the quality we were looking for.
