We were renovating our guest bathroom and needed some tiling done. I got James' name from my tile store owner - she highly recommended him. He came to look at the job 1 day after I called him and the work started the day after the new countertop was installed and was completed in 3 days elapsed. The tile required a lot of small cuts and a trim with mitred corners. Mike did the tile and Carlos did the grouting and caulking. Both of these fellows were fabulous: fast, tidy and thorough. The quality of their work is fabulous. They are all very personable. I would highly recommend James and his crew to anyone requiring a renovation.

Would we recommend J. Murphy's Contracting?, - without a doubt - "Absolutely!!" We were recommended by friends and neighbors of James company after they heard of the horror stories of the company we were using, - what a difference, - helpful, knowledgeable completely professional. Hello James, Don and I want to thank you and your team; Jeff, Mike and Carlos for your hard work. The fence is amazing, the new door and frame make our home more secure and the bathroom fan and ceiling are wonderful. It’s amazing how small (and not so small) updates on our home feel so good. The jobs were all done right with no surprises and at the quoted price. The experience was very positive, professional and hassle free and the finished products look great. After my foot sank into a tile in our bathroom, we knew we had to get a professional into to assess the water damage. A neighbor recommended James Murphy Contracting because they had recently completed a renovation for them. We called James for a consultation; he came over to assess the project and provided us with a comprehensive work schedule and price quote. He worked with us on every detail and provided expertise on the design. He prepared a contract with timelines and stayed in touch with us up until the project start date answering questions we had along the way. Once the bathrooms were gutted, the damage appeared worse than expected and James even caught the mold in our kitchen ceiling that resulted from the damage. Although this was an unexpected delay, James and his crew quickly and professionally repaired all the damage and provided us with detailed estimates on the repair cost. Even though this was a setback for James and his crew, James got the work done in record time and at a fair price – heck, they even finished our complete renovation a day early! Every day they left everything clean and tidy, (the crew said this was James’ pet peeve) “he wants the house to be left spotless” and they did - every night for two weeks! The work is top notch, they are the real deal and the entire crew is incredibly professional and courteous. In fact, they are so good that we have already booked James for another project in March. My husband secured a job up in Kelowna, and we were against the clock to reno our home to get it on the market. I had purchased the flooring for our living room/ dining room and our initial installer dropped the ball at the last minute. I called J. Murphy Contracting, whose name I got from the internet…not knowing who he was, only knowing that he was in my area. I told him my plight, and within a day he had rearranged his busy schedule in order to get my flooring in. They did a great job with my floor, and not only were they professional, but also, very entertaining as they did the job! I had a wall that wasn't true, yet you would never know it to see the floor, and they even managed to install the laminate UNDER the rock work that made up my hearth. AMAZING JOB! And, just as important to me, was the fact that they cleaned up as they went along, and not once did I ever feel like I was a burden because of my situation. They are, in my opinion, the best at what they do and I highly recommend them to any and all who need a floor installation. If we were not moving, I would use them again in a heartbeat!

Chose J.Murphy Contracting after checking for a contractor on-line. James was quick to respond to our enquiries and made suggestions to us to save costs. The work involved gutting the ensuite bathroom (including the floor and ceiling), refiguring the toilet, installing a larger tiled shower, tiling the floor, painting...the list goes on! His workers were very respectful to us and our home. James was very good at keeping in touch with us daily to let us know what had been done and what was planned for the following day. He also let us know which of his crew would be coming to do the work. The crew were all very personable and were great at cleaning up at the end of each day (much appreciated!). We will be using them again and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you James, Mike, Jeff and Carlos!

After deciding to finally go ahead with our basement renovation project, my wife began doing some research on general contractors. We looked on homestars, interviewed a couple GCs and finally decided to go with James Murphy. We discussed what we were hoping to achieve (a full live-in suite, with kitchen, bathroom, 1 bedroom, and living room) and he was very excited and confident right from the start. As with all renovations , we weren't naive to think that things would run smoothly; we expected to encounter obstacles but felt assured that the project was in good hands. Throughout the process, James kept us abreast of any issues and helped come up with different options that we should consider. Because we don't do renos often (if ever) and are unfamiliar with the process, he was very patient in explaining the reasons for any issues and gave the pros and cons for all of the different alternatives. He was also very tidy - at the end of each day, the work area was clear and it didn't look like a tornado had run through. We were very impressed to say the least. At the end of the project, we are very pleased with how the basement turned out and are very excited to finally use the space. Thank you James to you and your crew. You rock!

July 14/14 James Murphy and his crew started my bathroom shower renovation . Removing all the existing tiles everything was done so professionally and with care . I highly recommend James Murphy Contracting , also James was always punctual and he would text me right a way if he was going to be a few minutes late . Also Mike one of the crew guys did an awesome job as well . The job was done in five days , and it looks amazing ! Thanks James and the crew ! Pamela !

We have used J.Murphy's Contracting on two occasions now. The first was for a home office renovation and the second was a bedroom renovation. I am pleased with the experience and would strongly recommend James and his crew to anyone considering a home renovation.

To anyone looking for a residential contractor: We just recently did an extensive multi-bathroom renovation to our house. Fortunately, we used J. Murphy's Handyman Service. Once James and his crew got started, it became apparent there were a number of unforeseen issues that had to be addressed before the actual renovation could begin. James and crew were able to make the necessary adjustments quite seamlessly and were able to put our minds at ease with the changes that needed to be done. From our first consultation, to the completion of our reno, we were always kept informed to what was happening and quickly formed a trusting relationship which we hope to continue for many more future home projects.
