Fairney and Sons came highly recommended. Unfortunately, it doesn't match my experience. Quotes were reasonable. Job site was left clean. Tasks seemed well-explained and he had a good first impression but issues following the job required a significant amount of chasing and was greeted with unpleasantness to the point where I gave up. It became very frustrating to call and express concerns. The garden at the front of my house was leveled using unclean fill from another job site rather the soil that came out. The eaves on my garage and one of the windows in the family room leak. So disappointed.

This is a tale you don't often hear in this business. You ask a man for help -- and he gives it, honestly, professionally and with all the courtesy and respect you could ever expect. Every aspect is explained, fairly costed, and delivered in full. Having been on the other side of that story with our home remodel of 20+ years ago, when our house needed other repairs 3 years ago, I was very skeptical of ALL contractors. I talked with a great number of them, and only one - Bill Fairney - had the time to not only visit me personally, but listen to me carefully enough to understand what I wanted to do -- and didn't. My initial work involved roofing, waterproofing the foundation, a deck, and the complete replacement of an aging front porch which was coming away from the house. Bill's crew for that work, led by Peter and Mike, worked tirelessly and left the front of our house looking crisp and new, and we we're outrageously happy with the result. Fast forward 2 years to today, and we wanted to renovate our tired carpeted basement. Again, Bill came to visit with his key man, Grant, and together they examined and carefully laid out how they would perform the work I requested. I had a lot of questions - and they had answers for every one. No bluffing, no talking around it, or any other monkey business - you don't find integrity like that much these days, so it's refreshing and it gives you peace of mind. When the work began, Grant and his crew, Mike and Sonny, were here everyday -- on time, and put in an honest days work every day, keeping a clean worksite, and being patient enough to put up with a nosy guy like me. Grant especially took the time to discuss all his work in detail, and any issues that came up were promptly resolved. I can't put enough words here to explain how pleased we were with the level of service we received. There's no doubt that if I ever need any additional work, Bill Fairney will be the only man I'll need to call.

After researching, meeting with, and receiving quotes from a number of contractors for our major basement project, we felt extremely confident in hiring Fairney & Sons. From the outset Bill was extremely knowledgeable, open and straightforward about the task at hand. Bill also took the time to walk us through a number of similar projects which were being completed by his team, simply to ensure we were educated about the entire process (Note: With prior consent of the homeowners). Once the project began Bill and his teams were friendly, courteous, informative, helpful and extremely knowledgeable - even finding ways to save money while not compromising the project. Over and above this, Bill and his team who spent a significant amount of time in our home, (aka the work site) always maintained a clean work space ,were polite and good with children and pets. While we maintained high expectations for this job, Faireny & Sons consistently surpassed any expectation that we could have possibly had. Quite frankly, the finished product turned out perfectly, and just as important, all work done behind the finished product (plumbing, framing, re-wiring, etc) were equally as impressive. I would absolutely use Faireny & Sons for any of our future needs and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Wow. What service. Lots of advice and no charge. I had a small area on a basement wall where there had been a water issue and a couple of brick had fallen out. I called Fairney & Sons because they had leafleted my home and had a good rating on HomeStars. Brian (I believe that was his name), the owner, called me back the same day and arranged to drop by two days later. He looked at the job and said I could easily do it myself with some hydraulic cement. He even pointed out a couple of other things I should do with some brickwork on the outside of the house and an exposed hole for an old drainage pipe. I got quick and friendly service and great advice, all for no charge. So, while I can't comment on the quality of Fairney's work, I can say that this is a company you can certainly trust to be honest and fair. Again -- wow!

The foundation of our 100+ year-old home required waterproofing. We looked for a contractor through several sources. From the Home Stars site we found Fairney & Sons. We were impressed with the reviews given by previous clients. Bill Fairney gave us an estimate for the waterproofing, describing the process, the scope of the work to be done and the time it would require. He suggested some additional steps such as tuck pointing the brick for several courses for preventative as well as aesthetic reasons and reconfiguring the water flow from our eaves troughs to keep the water away from the foundation. Of the two quotes we received theirs was the lower by a good margin. We wanted a short pillar on our porch replaced requiring a second quote. Both quotes were on budget, on time and no surprises. The crews were skilled (the mason was expert!), courteous, patient with any questions we had and professional at all of their tasks. We would recommend Fairney & Son to anyone and will call on them for any future maintenance or improvements we require.

What makes Bill stand above everyone else is that at the end of the day he is honest, thoroughly professional, and extremely responsive. There are no hidden costs, no cut corners, and no run arounds. Our basement needed to be dug out, new drains installed, weeping tile, gravel and new pad. In addition to this we needed two new steel posts to counteract some joist sag. Bill came in, gave an extremely accurate quote, got the drawings and permits done and got right to work. At the same time that the basement was being fixed, we were getting the whole house re-wired, and a new kitchen. All the while caring for both our 3 year old son and a baby that was born during the construction. Bill and his crew were just fantastic with my family. Every member of the team are just great human beings. It may not seem like that is an important factor when you are planning a project like this, but the patience and positive attitude of the crew is what got us through in the end. I cannot recommend Bill and his team enough.

We were recommended Bill from a neighbor and never regretted the choice to bring Fairney and Sons in to do our fence. Bill is so easy to work with, sticks to the timeline and provides honest and professional advice. Bill brought Peter in to complete our fence and I cannot say enough about Peter, extremely talented, hard working and took pride in workmanship. We will be calling them again for the next project on our list.

We have had Fairney and Sons complete many projects on our home ever since we moved in 7 years ago. They are always friendly, reliable, reasonable and most of all they do excellent work. I would recommend them to anyone!

After spending 2 years screening for the right roofer, I finally met Bill from Fairley & Sons. Within the first few minutes of stopping by for a free estimate, I was convinced. Went over every little detail from start to finish. Cleanup was done as they went which is a huge deal. Added more vents to ensure the roof would breathe right. As a realtor, I'm extremely cautious about who I recommend but you should make sure Bill is one of the 3 pros you meet before hiring anyone.

Bill and his excellent crew repaired our entire foundation quickly and properly. They went the extra mile by landscaping all areas that were dug up. Within minutes of completion his roofing crew showed up and fixed all our eavestroughs the same day. I have never experienced great service from a contractor. All of our future work will be done by Fairney and Sons.
