Our house has an extension and the bonus room in the basement as part of the extension flooded. I called Fairney & Sons based on the reviews on Homestars, and Bill came over on the same day to assess the situation and provided a quote. Approximate cost includes the $1750 city of Toronto rebate for the sump pump. Work was done in a single day and team was fantastic with the clean up. Highly recommended!!!

We had moved into a new house, and like many new homeowners, immediately began to find problems that previous homeowners had put off doing. Parging was splitting, the roof had reached the end of its life, boards of the deck and shed were rotting. I found Bill's contact information on a warranty for work he'd done years and years previously by a previous homeowner who had put in some significant work on the house. I gave him a call and am so very glad I did. He remembered the property immediately, knew what work he'd done, and was more responsive than any of the other contractors we reached out to. He had the roof done quickly, and soon after had a carpenter out to fix all of our wood problems. In comparing quotes, he seemed to always give a fair price. I never felt taken advantage of, and often felt educated as he'd explain why something that I thought might be a good idea was actually not going to solve my problems. He had the opportunity to take advantage of my ignorance and make a quick buck -- instead he made me less ignorant! I've been thoroughly impressed with the quality of work, the speed of the work, and the ease with which I could work with him. He and his team were organized and responsive throughout. He'd be my first call if I have any further work that needs to be done, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend him.

We hired Fairney and Sons to redo our cement porch and stairs. They did a excellent job. They were professional, friendly, efficient and clean. They went above and beyond our expectations. Very happy with the job they did.

We are homeowners in downtown Toronto's Leslieville neighbourhood. Bill and his team of contractors (masonry, carpentry, gas and electrical) were professional, communicative and courteous; they arrived and departed in a timely manner, and cleaned and tidied up after themselves on a daily basis. They were also accommodating when additional unexpected tasks were requested/required. The work on a new fence and deck were excellent. I was coordinating on behalf of my elderly mom some parging and concrete work along the side of her house -- basically repairing and sealing the side wall of the house; then removing old broken concrete between her house and the neighbour's and pouring new concrete down while creating a better drain slope. I got 4 quotes for my mom and Bill and Michael provided the best quote by far. They were very communicative and diligent in assessing the work to be done and were transparent with the quote. They scheduled us fairly quickly (considering how busy contractors are these days) and got the job done in the time they said they would. Some of the concrete work and parging required removal of old wooden steps that abutted the back wall of the house -- no problem! Bill had them removed and disposed of, had the parging and concrete work completed, and then had a carpenter on site a few days later to build new steps for my mom. This extra and agreed upon work came at a very reasonable fee and completed the whole job perfectly. Due to work, I was out of town while Bill's and Michael's team were there but Bill phoned and texted with me regularly, updating me on progress and getting my approval for any changes required. My mom's neighbour was also pleased with the work done and emailed us afterward to say that he "got the opportunity to chat with the team doing the work. They were great to work with, very communicative and did an excellent job." I would hire Fairney and Sons again for myself, and would recommend them to anyone!

Did a great job. Very fast and cleaned up really well. Have used them many times and always a great job.

Removed old slate-and-shingle and shingle roofs and replaced with new shingle; scrapped down and replaced large flat roof. Crew was very professional, hard-working, quiet and skilled. No extra noise (beyond the noise you make scraping down and replacing multiple roofs!) Care was shown regarding maintaining the angle of the TV antenna as it was reaffixed. Very satisfied.

Fairney and Sons was invested in understanding both the problems that lead me to reach out to them, and also what I wanted as part of the solution. Where I didn't have knowledge of variables/options, what I needed to know to make informed decisions was explained to me. I was provided with quotes for the pieces of the projects separately, and upon agreement the replacements began with great efficiency. The projects took place over a few consecutive weeks, but equipment and garbage were tidied up at the end of each day. Communication with me/the client, as well as what I observed with contractors, was always efficient, respectful and thorough. I will absolutely reach out to Fairney and Sons for future needs.

Excellent experience with Bill and his crew on our exterior basement waterproofing and basement window replacement + window wells. Transparent pricing with explaining potential hidden costs we might come across. Open and consistent communication and top quality work. Job site was cleaned well after they wrapped up. A bonus to be able to support a business based out of East York where I live.
