    kitchen and vanities

"We are really pleased with the new kitchen cabinets and countertop as well as the bathroom vanities that Skip McGrath custom built and installed in our home, . The simple but elegant design really makes the kitchen and bathrooms more than just functional, but very apealing to the eye. Guests are very impressed - especially with the movable island in the kitchen which gives us real flexability with the open concept layout for entertaining large crowds. I particularily appreciated the quality of the materials from which Skip made the cabinets and drawers - real plywood instead of vineered chipboard, tongue & groove drawer construction, and strudy ball bearing drawer sliders with soft close feature. And as we had a critical timeline to maintain, the fact he was on time and on budget was esential to our overall project completion. We have complete confidence in recommending his services."

    kitchen renovation

"A friend in housing construction recommended Skip to us and we are very grateful for the reference. Our old kitchen was ugly and dysfunctional: we went back to the studs and started almost from scratch. Skip was excellent to work with. His advice on layout and décor was helpful without being pushy, and he was diligent in presenting a good range of options. His craftsmanship is outstanding, dealing elegantly with older-house issues such as uneven ceiling and unusual spacing, and blending up-to-date features and practicality with a style that compliments the rest of the house. Skip was on time, quick to deal with problems, and his workmen were pleasant and reliable. We would not hesitate to use him again and recommend him without reservation."

    condo renovation

'We had the good fortune to have Skip recommended to us by a friend, and worked with him on a renovation of a historically-designated 90 year old apartment. Our vision was to restore it to its original gracious state, but with suitably-disguised modern conveniences. Skip 'got it' immediately and not only brought our dreams to life, but added to them with numerous creative suggestions of his own. The project consisted of totalling gutting and rebuilding the kitchen and bathroom, and electrical/plumbing changes and custom cabinetry throughout the unit. Skip managed the entire renovation with endless good humour and patience - coordinating everything from trades to appliance deliveries; but what sets him apart is the detail and design he brought to the project with his custom cabinetry thoughout the apartment. He recreated 1920's style pieces and built special storage units to match existing furnishings to create a look so seamless that visitors cannot tell what is original to the building and what is newly built. After seeing what Skip created for us, several neighbours in the building have been inspired to take on renovations of their own, and have spoken to him about working with them on their projects. We were also told that he was meticulous about maintaining a clean job site, something which was extremely important to us, as we were not yet living in the apartment and couldn't be on-site regularly. For anyone who wishes to work with someone obsessed with quality craftsmanship and in possession of great organizational skills and endless good nature, we recommend Skip with heartfelt enthusiasm and without hesitation."
