    Furnace installation

My mother house furnace failed during easter weekend. I called several companies , no one returned my call quickly. I contacted. aire one and they arrived in 45 minutes. We purchased a new furnace and was installed same day!!! My mother had a quote from another company which Aire One quote was $573 less for the exact same equipment. Dave and helper did a great job and cleaned up the mess. They also removed the old furnace at no extra charge. I recommend Aire one for their fast service and reasonable prices.

    Furnace, Water Heater, A/C Replaced

Bought a 60 year old home this fall, with a 17 year old furnace, A/C and Hot Water Heater. Had all replaced on the same day and the 2 guys worked 12 hours to get the job done. I was very impressed with their work ethic.

    Furnace repair

I called Aire One since I've seen them around town and were in the local yellow pages. The technician came after hours as the house was cold when I arrived home from work. I tried to get the thermostat to work but realized I had to call a pro. I was pretty worried about the pipes freezing and my poor little dog getting too cold. The service guy was really pleasant even though it was after hours... I was very impressed at how fast he was. He got the part from his truck and we were back in business. I'm keeping his name so that I can ask for him again. Hopefully not for a while of course!

    Furnace

I contacted John from Airone (Durham Region). He promised 10 years warranty on my furnace, so I purchased it from him. Now 1 year later I have had 3 incidents where the furnace wouldn't turn on. I called Aireone to send a technician, and no one ever showed up. I had to call a different company to come and fix my furnace. I got a good deal on the furnace, but I guess the deal was good because they weren't honest about the warranty.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Chris, Aire One appreciates customers that take time to tell us of any problems they might be having. I am sorry to hear that you had difficulties with your furnace. As per the manufacturer, it is very important to have the furnace maintained every year in order for it to work at peak performance. Aire One offers a fantastic 'Precision Tune-Up' Plan that you might be interested in. Please contact your local Aire One by calling 310-HEAT (no Area code required) for more details.

    Seasonal Maintenance

This is a company I would not recommend to anyone. One of Aire One's technicians came to perform seasonal maintenance on a fully functional unit last Thursday however, he did not seem very knowledgeable and without performing any diagnostics, using tools or testers he said that the unit was defective with a broken heat exchanger, emitting carbon monoxide and had to be tagged and shut down. He also said there was a pipe not in code. While I could relate to his comments on the coding issue as codes do change frequently and the unit is one of the older models it was just alarming that he did no testing and wanted to sell me a new unit for $2,800. I decided that he had to run his meter to at least test for Carbon Monoxide (CO) to justify his claim. When he did there was no issue found and the CO level was all within spec. Nevertheless, he still left a Type "A" red tag and indicated to my tenant that the unit poses imminent danger and could blow up at anytime. He eventually left the house but with the unit running and this time told my tenant she should be ok for a few days. This had me really baffled as to why, since he claimed that there was a broken heat exchanger leaking carbon monoxide that can potentially kill everyone in the household unless he knew that was not the case? Anyway, I called another company to checkout the unit and as expected, other than the pipe needing updating to meet the new code which cost less than $100 to fix there was no issue with the heat exchanger. As per this other company, that practice was unethical, illegal and the tech was basically trying to rip me off. I can safely say I would not be dealing with Aire One ever again and the two units that I intended to buy from them will now go to the other company due to their honesty. Please be aware of companies like this that will manipulate the coding system to their benefits and hold your unit at ransom during these cold months.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Ansel, thank you for voicing your concerns. It is the moral duty and legal responsibility of each licensed gas technician to make sure that the heating equipment they service is safe. Carbon monoxide is an odorless gas that can cause illness and even death. Aire One supports its safety conscious employees

    Heating and air conditioning

Bought a top of the line Lennox in fall 2012. Furnace worked fine through wnter but in May we tried the AC and only got warm air. Had to hound the service line for 3 days to get someone to finally show up at 7PM at night. I had him check the coolant first and sure enough it was bone dry. He presuurized it to try and find a leak but couldn't so decided he would need to replace the coils in the furnace "just because". I could tell from how little the so called service managers cared when I called that i would need to hound them to make sure I got service. So many days and calls later the service tech comes back with parts and finds the pressure has held. I ask him to just recharge the system and not waste time replacing coils as he only shows up after 7PM. He has to purge the system and tries to do it during a rainstorm so gets water in his vaccuum. More days and calls later he comes back and finally charges the system. It held all summer but I feel trapped into paying their $20 month service plan because I bet if something broke I would never see a tech or conversely would see one right away with a $300 bill just to show up at the door. I tried to complain and say I would not recommend them and the service manager replies "It doesn't matter if you're happy, we have over 200 thousand customers".

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Mr. Maarse for your view. Aire One is a responsible company. Our technicians work hard for our customers (as you can see by how late the service technician came out to your home.), but they must follow environmental rules regarding refrigerant.

    Furnace Repair

I asked for an pre-season inspection of a previously working furnace. Now,$ 800+and three visits later it no longer works. The company is more interested in the $300 and refuses to even look at it until the ransom is paid. The amount is not yet due. After the first $500 was spent, they recommended it replaced. I have yet to redeive invoices, only bills. I got another company to look at it and it was a blocked chimney. None of the work done by Aire One needed to be.

    Answer from pro:

Hello Ann, thank you for voicing your concerns. I am glad that Aire One Heating and Cooling was able to respond to your multiple furnace break downs so quickly. We try very hard to keep our customers comfortable in their homes. Unfortunately sometimes with extremely old furnace equipment it is difficult to keep it running in top condition. This is why after the first two calls (second call was free) it was suggested to look into buying a new furnace. We have multiple financial options available if this is a concern and Aire One is always willing to work with its customers in this regard. Your comfort is our top concern.

    Air conditioner

My Mom and Dad used Aire One when her furnace stopped working, so when my husband and I moved into a new house with no air conditioning I asked my dad. He said that they did a good job for them. I called and the gentleman on the phone was really nice and arranged to have the salesperson out the next day. Bernard showed us what we needed and what we didn't need. His honesty was nice. Great install and it was fast too.

Thank you for your feedback Amanda. I am glad we could help you and your husband be comfortable in your new home.

    Preventative maintenance

I had Aire One perform furnace tune-up and Fireplace cleaning. The tech recommended replacing 3 parts on the furnace ranging in price from $120-$280 each. I wasn't prepared to drop an additional $600 on parts, but agreed to replace the flame sensor @ $280 which seemed like a lot for such a small part. While the tech gets the part and starts installing, I find that the part can be purchased online in Canada for $50. Ok, I understand that business has overhead, but that is crazy mark-up for a part that takes 10 minutes to install. I wish that I had read these Homestars reviews before calling Aire One. I will not use this company again.

    New Furnace & Air Conditioner

This company did an amazing job from start to finish. Customer service set it off for us and the install topped the cake. The administrator was so knowledgable about each product and our sales guy wasn't the typical door knocker you would expect, very down to earth and not pushy at all also did his very best to get us the best price possible. The installers did everything we wanted even though it seemed like a complex job, with no issues the job was done in about 5-6 hours and we are warm and toasty! Thanks again for our systems we love them and will be reccommending your company to everyone.
