Mike did a great job forming concrete sidewalks around my parents garden and joining up to their garage and forming a new driveway. He was courteous, creative and reasonably priced. He started when he said he would, started and finished the job neatly and cleanly. I don't think that you could find a better contractor than Mike Scott.

Mike was great to work with. His estimate was reasonable and he started the work immediately. He and his crew were respectful, friendly and hardworking and they did a great job. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting concrete work done.

After contacting all the top 10 concrete Contractors on Homestars for estimates, I chose M Scott Home Improvements for my concrete work that needed to be done at my house (which entailed Breaking old concrete from my backyard patio, walkway between my house and neighbors to the city sidewalk and walk way in front of my house). Mikes estimate was very competitive among the others on this site and his past reviews on the site helped cemented (no pun intended) my decision to go with Mike. All the work was done within a week and the clean-up was quick and efficient, There are a few touch ups that need to done and Mike has assured me that it will be looked at and completed to my satisfaction.

I all a few contractors listed in home star.All were pleasant and came to give me an estimate for the removal and replacing of a concrete driveway.Mike Scott 's estimate fit my budget so I asked him to do the work.one week later to my surprise and joy the men were here to remove the old concrete.They were efficent and very pleasant.My new driveway is now in and I am extremely please with the results.I have already recommended Mike and the team to my friends and family.Thanks also to home star without them I could still be looking for a good contractor

Nancy and I needed cement done around the house(new private sidewalk from house, new sidewalk along the side from city sidewalk to the end of the building, new patio area and garage entrance). Waterproofing was the main concern. We had estimates from other companies and while Mike was not the lowest his proposals seemed the best. He didn't use scare tactics saying that he would find foundation problems which would cost us a lot more as one fellow did. The first day his crew had a coffee and then it was non stop work. It took about four hours to drill, move and dispose of the concrete, built the barriers/foundation for the new cement and clean and sweep. When it came time to lay the cement we had a few variations and that was not a problem. I was also given advice about the proper way to lay flagstone for our next project. Mike and his crew were friendly, helpful and really nice guys. Mike is licensed and charges HST but his crew is covered by WSIB which shows that he cares about his crew unlike other companies. .Neighbours compliment us about his work. Last summer M. Scott poured a new cement floor in our garage and straightened the building. We were very pleased with the job, and this year we had them waterproof part of our foundation. Despite the messy nature of the work and the considerable rain, the work was neat and completed in a timely fashion - even earning comments from our neighbours. The pointing and parging they did was also done extremely well and neatly. M.Scott does an excellent job, is fast, efficient, neat and on budget. We would use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them to our friends. (Although the price listed seems high, it is the total for all three jobs.)

We are extremely happy with our new chimney. The job was completed in a professional and timely fashion. The price was very fair and worth every cent. We were so pleased Mike and his team were back this year to do some addition concrete work and once again, a job well done. Mike came quickly to view the project and quote a price, which he honoured. He was willing to take on a job that other contractors had dismissed as not worthwhile. Once work started, it progessed steadily, even though we added sub-projects, sometimes with very little notice. Mike was flexible about this, and the extra time and cost associated with these changes were fair and reasonable. Throughout, Mike was informative about the process and the expected outcome. His crew was prompt, pleasant and hardworking. The end result is very satisfying--the basement is waterproof, the new floor is smooth and level and polished--our friends are all impressed.

I live in the Beach, and phoned Scott Home Improvements re: a concrete walkway that had settled and allowed water to seep into my basement. Mike answered the call, came promptly by to inspect and a gave a realistic estimate at the same time. The next day, his crew came and the job was done to specification. Mike also participated and made sure that the job was to perfection. So far ....no water in the basement. A job well done!

I live in East York in a house that was built in 1921. The concrete laneway (2.5 feet wide) between my house and my neighbour was graded incorrectly, cracked, and was leaking water into my basement. My basement floor had a 4x6 area that was bare earth and needed to be covered in concrete. The rear wall of my house had vinyl covering a former 30 inch doorway (which had been replaced by a new french door in a different location). I needed a contractor to replace my side of the laneway (since my neighbour wouldn't agree to having his side fixed), fix my floor, and replace the vinyl with brick that matched the house. I asked some friends for recommendations, looked on HomeStars and made some phone calls, and chose Mike Scott - and am very happy with the decision. Mike was great - down-to-earth, professional, matter-of-fact and friendly. He and his excellent crew always arrived on-time, left the work site clean, and did a fantastic job on all three of the areas that needed to be fixed. He was also great at dealing with my neighbour who was being quite difficult - the laneway was so badly cracked that there was no way that only my side could be replaced, but my neighbour was insistent that he didn't want any work done because "he didn't have a problem" (even though he was likely going to have a problem in short order). Mike ended up replacing the entire walkway, grading it appropriately, and then did a fantastic hand-textured surface to prevent slipping. He handled my neighbour brilliantly and didn't charge extra for the additional work that was required as a result. The neighbours and friends who stopped by to check it out were impressed with the workmanship. Mike's team did a great job on the bricks - the color matched perfectly (minus years of accumulated grime) and the mortar joints were neat and clean. The patch on the basement floor was perfectly integrated to the remaining floor. Mike was also very responsive with after-sales service in response to some queries my neighbour had after the fact. I would recommend Mike and his team again, and if I decide to proceed with a replacement for my garage slab, will hire him again.
