A roofer installed a new roof on my home in July 2011 and during the April and November 2014 wind and rain storms in the GTA, a substantial amount of shingles blew off mine and my three other neighbours' roofs who also had their homes re-shingled by the same roofer. Three other roofing companies advised me that the roof was not installed properly and could not be repaired. Since the roofer refused to take any responsibility for his poor workmanship, I was forced to initiate a Small Claims Court action against him. I contacted Dave Braughn of Independent Roof Inspection Services on December 4, 2015 to conduct an inspection on my roof; Dave responded promptly and had the job done by December 9th. On December 12th he provided me with a comprehensive report, which identified critical deficiencies in the workmanship and installation of the roof, supporting photo images, assessment of the roofing contract, and recommendations as to how best to resolve the issues and restore the safety of my home. I have no doubt the report provided by Independent Roof Inspection Services will be the critical evidence I need to prove my case in court. I would have no hesitation in personally recommending Dave Braughn and Independent Roof Inspection Services if anyone I know requires roof inspection.

Thank what falls from heaven Independent Roof Inspection Services (IRIS) can save home and business owners alike from bad roofing! We called Dave Baughn after our new roof leaked, its installer came and "fixed" it, but it still leaked. Dave and his crew came, inspected, reported. Our roofer returned again but this time, under Dave's sharp eye and gentle instruction, finally achieved a no-leak roof. Dave's supervision of our much less experienced roofer was aided by the excellent report IRIS had given us. It's succinctly detailed, and diagram- and photo-illustrated observations and recommendations were for our money a model of sound reporting. It showed and told readers what needed fixing now, how to do so, and what would later need replacing, why and when. We very satisfied customers can't recommend IRIS highly enough. [etc.]

I had put a conditional offer on a house and needed a professional to inspect the roof & mouldy attic before making a decision. I made some phone calls, but truth be told, most inspectors won't enter a mouldy attic or climb up on a roof. Thankfully the IRIS team was willing to do both for the sake of a thorough inspection. Despite the fact that the team arrived late, I am absolutely satisfied with their work. The company's reporting is detailed and they welcome follow up questions. Dave, the owner, is lovely to chat with on the phone.

The roof on my home was done in 2002, due to faulty shingles and inadequate ventilation, I must re-shingle the roof within the next two years or less. I have had quotes from roofing companies but I never felt I was provided with an unbiased opinion I was pressured rather then informed . I called IRIS their inspection was unbiased and objective. Since the inspection I have forwarded them (IRIS) roof quotes and IRIS was accommodating in reviewing the quotes at no extra cost. Given that the roofing industry in Ontario is unregulated I welcome companies like IRIS to walk me through the vagaries of this industry.

We've had difficulty with moisture around some drywall screws in the ceiling on the second floor of our "newish" house each spring for some time. We weren't sure if the issue was a leak or ventilation. Dave came by and inspected for us and determined that there were no leaks but that lack of ventilation (condensation) was the cause of the moisture issues we've seen. Not sure why our builder didn't vent the roof at the original build but we have since installed roof vents and are looking forward to dry ceilings this spring!

After heavy snow from this past winter, I wanted to know what had happened with my dual flat and peaked roof, but my house is too tall and I do not like heights. When I saw IRIS inspecting my neighbours’ roof, I thought that is exactly what I needed. After I contacted IRIS, they immediately came and examined my roof, and attic, too. After the inspection, I received a very detailed report, which included photos of my roof and the sites to watch out for and repair, along with the expected cost for repairs. This has been incredibly useful when trying to obtain a contractor as I know what the problems are and how much a quote should be, as well as to know when in the future I will likely need to replace shingles and the flat roof.

For a commercial solar installation it is critical that we have an unbiased opinion on the remaining life of a roof prior to installing our equipment. We have used Dave at IRIS for over half a dozen projects and he is by far the most thorough and honest roof inspector that I have come across. He is very professional, prompt and answers all of my follow up questions. A pleasure to deal with and highly recommended.

Dave was extremely professional and personable. I appreciated his honesty when answering my questions regarding my roof. I would recommend his services to anyone. Overall i was very impressed. In addition, he always responded to my email in a very timely manner.

David quickly and thoroughly inspected our new roof and confirmed major deficiencies in a concise report, photos included, after we noticed some visible problems. Luckily this was caught before project end - Contractor had no choice but to remedy all items to both our and David's satisfaction. We highly recommend him especially if you have any doubts that your roofing project is being done properly.

Very good advice, pinpointing por wormanship done by another contractor. Dave is very knowledgeable and help me to temporary solve a leak, among useful advice. He followed up to verify everything worked and gave me a profesional assessment of my roof.
