    Moving around the block

Their estimator seriously underestimated the size of the move, requiring the movers to have to make a second trip. We were quoted an amount to pack the entire house and told the more we packed, the lower the cost would be. We packed about 3/4 of the house and were still charged about 90% of the estimate. When asked for a refund, their only response was they had a signed estimate.

Moving and Packing from Kitchener to Guelph ON

They guaranteed the cost of the move within 10% but it exceeded that (leaving an allowance for the extra pick up of 40 minutes). I paid $1,200 to have them pack and the job of packing was unacceptable. Some items were broken but they made no attempt to replace any broken items. The clothes in the wardrobes were just thrown/jammed in. They took the money from my credit card before checking to see if the job was satisfactory. The deposit was $150. however, at the time of booking they wrote down my credit card number on a piece of paper, therefore they didn't have to check with me before submitting the rest of their balance. They also transported a new sofa from a store to our same condo during the same move (which took an additional 40 minutes according to the driver) and also did some damage. They made no attempt to take care of it. I paid $200.00 insurance which I feel was a money grab. I have pictures to prove all of this. I attempted to get a hold of the fellow that booked our move a couple of times during the move with no success. I would hesitate to recommend this mover.

    Costco Mattress Delivery

Belligerent truck drivers. First attempt of delivery was promised 30 min. Warning, given 10, missed delivery. Second attempt, belligerent driver refused a minor request to assist moving original mattress to our garage. Third attempt, third driver refused to assist even though the dispatcher approved assistance. We paid for "white glove delivery", what we received was substandard service with a heavy dose of rudeness. We still don't have that mattress delivered because we refuse to accept this type of service.

Terrible moving day experience with AMJ Campbell - Mississauga

From begin to end this was a terrible moving experience. 1. They were a hour late, offered no explanation or apology 2. Although we were very prepared (ie: moved all boxes to the garage for easy loading), they moved slowly and inefficiently (took 2 extra hours) 3. Did not bring enough supplies to complete the job; reused wet and dirty mats 4. Did not wear shoe protectors (this was a winter move); made a mess of all carpets and floors 5. Damaged the wall in 4 places 6. Were unable to move all furniture, as quoted 7. Joked about damaging our property All in all, this was a very stressful experience. I paid for movers to relieve stress, not add more of it. In the future, I will either look elsewhere or get family to help because this move was more trouble than it was worth. I followed up with the company to make them aware of the unprofessional service I received and I did not receive a reply.

    movers

After hearing (and reading) mixed reviews about many moving companies in the GTA, I settled on AMJ Campbell (Markham location) to move us from Richmond Hill to Toronto in December. The total cost of the actual move was neither the cheapest nor the most expensive of the 3 quotes I got. I chose their "partial pack" option, (they packed -- and later unpacked -- all my china, crystal, glass, mirrors, framed pictures, lamps, breakables), since I was worried about my ability to correctly pack these items. This option greatly increased the cost of the move, but it was worth it. All in all, everything went very smoothly. The salesperson, Lynn Tipping, who came to my old house to give me the quote, did a good job answering all my questions both by phone and email. The packers (Tom and Basil) were mature men, professional, punctual, friendly, and very efficient. The 3 movers (I wish I could recall their names) were also stellar. The move itself took 2 or 3 hours less than the salesperson originally estimated, so I didn't pay as much as I'd expected. I don't think the guys even ate lunch -- unless they ate in the truck between houses. Anyway, I'd highly recommend AMJ.

    Small Office Disposal and Move

I have used AMJ Campbell for years. Never the cheapest but I don't mind paying for quality. I booked AMJ-C for a very small office breakdown and single executive desk relocation. The move was overbooked, over 6 workers on hand watching 2 who were actually working. They had wrong info and had to be constantly re-directed on what the job entailed. The goofed around and ended up throwing out sections of the one desk we wanted to keep. After 2 months, all they came back to me with was they knocked one hour off (an hour that should never have been charged in the first place) and $100 for the parts they tossed. Very surprising. as this

    Move from Toronto to Calgary

There is one, and only one thing I have zero tolerance when I hire a moving company. Theft. This is why I gave this company ZERO. Here's what happened: I requested a quote from AMJ Campbell in mid-October, 2014. A sales representative, Ian, responded and said he would like to come to my place and gave me a quote. When we met, he seemed very polite and professional. I got a quote from him for about 7k (move from Toronto to Calgary). It was not cheap comparing to other companies; however, since AMJ Campbell is a "silver" partner under Atlas, I thought it must have some good reputation. I decided to go with them. 7k included packing so 2 packers came to my place in early November, 2014 to pack my stuff. My wife and I were busy cleaning in the living room so we didn't have a chance to go into our bedroom or the 2nd bedroom. Everything was packed, loaded on the truck in 2 days. Everything seemed very smooth, until we got our stuff in Calgary in mid-November. First, a few things broke during the transport. I could understand that nothing is bulletproof. However, the deal breaker was that I found my newly purchased Hugo Boss sunglasses were missing, and only the empty case was left in my drawer. In addition, my GoPro camera was gone, and only the original camera case was left. My wife and I opened every single box but couldn't find the two items. I then realized that these two items were in the bedrooms before they were packed. My wfie and I stayed in the living room during the packing and had no time to check on the person who packed the bedrooms. When I realized what happened, I could only think of one word, DISGUSTING. I called Ian, who was the sales rep. I spoke nicely but I had to tell him the truth. Ian, on the other hand, was somehow pissed off about this. Instead of feeling sympathetic, he just told me to file the claim with Atlas. He acted like he had no responsibility at all. Guess what, Ian, you have no right to get angry with me. I payed 7k because I thought the sales rep and the team would be professional and responsible. I did not get any of those. On top of it, a thief in their group took my stuff. I am sure there are people take pride of what they do in AMJ Campbell, but Ian is definitely not one of them. Shame on you, Ian and the thief (whoever you are). If AMJ Campbell can't admit and realize there is theft problem in their team, I will strongly recommend people to stay away from them. I started the claim process with Atlas, but I haven't heard a single word from for more than 2 weeks except for they got the claim. I emailed the contact person, but there was no feedback. Please tell me how I can be slightly satisfied.

    Moving

our experience started off very well with AMJ Campbell Van Lines.. Virginia came into our home, ran down what services they would provide. She was very helpful & knowledgeable. The quote she gave us was dead on. She made sure we had plenty of boxes, paper & tape to pack. On moving day, we hit the jackpot with Kim & Sid as our moving guys. They were punctual, pleasant, efficient and super organized. All our belongings were loaded in a careful manner. Today, they delivered our furniture, appliances and boxes in the same manner. Both these guys went above and beyond to make our move to our new home as stress-free as possible. I would recommend these two fine gents to anyone moving. Not planning any moves in the near future, but we will certainly be passing on our recommendations to family & friends. Again a great big thank you to Kim & Sid! You guys rock!

    Moving

I gave this company one star, and this may be generous. We moved from Alberta to Cranbrook British Columbia, a simple 4 hour move. First they came out and gave us a quote, that went well. AMJ moved our home first. Two people packed the house and four came in and loaded the truck on a Thursday. We took possession of our new home on Monday, they charged us $1200 for the one day delay but, the truck broke down in Sparwood and they were delayed a day but we did not get our $1200 back, they just avoided any talk about that. When they unloaded at our home they had four men and a small moving van, they said that they could not get their truck in our driveway, another $360 for 4 hrs of a u haul that I can rent for $59 a day. I must say the damage was minimal. Next they moved our business, remember they sent out a man to look at everything and give us a quote, and the day before they came they called and I said, this is a heavier move than the first, the shelving alone is a four man lift, I said this over and over to them. We drove back to Alberta to meet them at 9am on Friday and they showed up at 10:30 with excuse after excuse and only two men, I asked if this was it and they said yes. I also asked if they could deliver Monday and they said according to their chart it was only four hours and delivery had to be Saturday, so we drove back to B.C that night. The next morning we were a half hour late and they were furious. They began unloading the truck and dumped one big shelving unit off the truck ramp shattering it and totally destroyed four others, their language was extremely inappropriate, and when my husband asked why there were not more people to help he was told they can't get help on Saturdays, would this not be a reason to maybe move people's things on a more appropriate day? The driver took pictures of the broken shelves and gave us a phone # that no one answered for a month and I left 8 messages. Due to this being a business we needed to get things fixed to get back in business. The cost to fix the damage was $5000 and that was only what I needed to get fixed to get open. When I finally reached a person they said we will work with you to get these things fixed and paid for. I submitted all the receipts and then they back tracked like mad, basically they didn't care. They said we didn't have permission to go ahead, now they won't look at anything. Stay away from AMJ, they don't care about the customer. PS, it cost us $12000.00 more than the quote plus the $5000.00 to fix our stuff, could have rented uhauls and paid perfect strangers a fair wage and came out ahead. Yes I am mad, this was Nov - Dec 2013 and I still get infuriated thinking about how little they care. Do yourself a huge favour and keep looking. There are lots of honest movers who take pride in their work and treat people with respect......unfortunately is NOT AMJ.

    Movers

I will not recommend this company to anybody making a move. The quote came in estimating a three man crew to do the move in 11 hours. We were promised a truck with an attached trailer to contain all of our possessions. We prepared by having most things boxed or taken apart. The movers arrived at about 9 am. The estimate predicted about 6 hours to load up at my previous home and 4-5 unloading at the new location. At about 1 pm, the movers realized that they were running out of space which slowed their work down drastically trying to maximize the space on the truck. My wife and I had to make multiple trips with our personal vehicles to try and make the move happen on time. They ended up leaving things at my former neighbour's house including their garbage in a wardrobe box which I ended picking up when the neighbour complained that it hadn't been picked up. The movers, while quite young, were hard workers and probably frustrated with the lack of space in their truck. Had the trailer been there, the move would have been much faster and complete. The remainder of my belongings were delivered five days later.
