Over extended business with inaccurate bells and whistles - AVOID!

We have been with this company for over 6 years and have always been satisfied clients. Over the last two years, service has declined substantially and it appears that this company cannot handle its over extended business. Lots of bells and whistles with this company - none of it accurate. They are the last to arrive in our area, if they show up at all. Their Fancy GPS alerts are inaccurate by hours and hours. Emails of concern to the company go unanswered. Issue tickets may be responded to, but well over a day later, if at all. You cannot access their office or leave a message with an issue. We will be leaving this company after many years. Hopefully the greediness of these businesses will dissatisfy enough other long term clients to act. It is sad for customer service when there is a definitive problem and the owner simply offers a refund to clients, without effort to rectify the problems.

    Answer from pro:

I'm sorry to read this, especially from a valued long time customer. On some routes I simply 'reversed the order' of service delivery around so those at the end of routes may also experience faster service. This is of course is going to make some people unhappy and others happy but changing routes around is sometimes necessary every few years . Your comment about 'greed' is quite frankly insulting. This business has absolutely nothing to do with 'greed'. If it it did....I'd charge much more like my competitors do but I don't. I keep my prices low in support of my many seniors that rely on us. Thanks of course I am sorry to see you go. If that's your decision. As no address is supplied I can't investigate your address and attempt to make changes to improve. Ken

    Driveway not Cleared

There was a storm over night Sunday and snow continued into Monday. It is now Wednesday and my driveway has not been cleared. I have emailed and received no acknoledgement from the company. I have called and the mailbox is full and not accepting new messages

    Answer from pro:

Our apologies Sarah that you feel you were not cleared in the time you wanted.' All drives were in fact cleared yet some streets had late City Graders go though some areas or simply missed streets completely.'all should be resolved now. Thanks Metro Team

    Lack of service

Required to call and email company numerous times each time it snows to have my driveway done. Last night, my 3 neighbours across the street we're done, and mine totally disregarded. The company does not respond to emails, and phone calls. There is no way to get in touch with them. I was required to drive to their offices to state my issues. I'm still waiting to have my driveway cleared. Most frustrating.

    Answer from pro:

We have. Very efficient 'ticket issue' program that is responded to quickly 'when used' by a customer. Simply click on the 'issue tab' on the website, it is dispatched to the driver and usually the issue is quickly resolved for people. Metro Tean

    Snow Removal

This company is ok the first year with the owner personally emailing you with updates. However following years good luck getting service! No shows, no way of reaching them by phone, tractors breaking down and no customer service department! This is our third year and this is our last year with them! If Ken Dale is good enough to send out all the beautiful snow alerts, he can also reach out to his customers when they are need of snow removal. Christmas day with all that snow...was a NO SHOW!

    Answer from pro:

We serviced ALL clients ON Christmas Day starting at 2 pm as quoted. Snow did NOT stop falling until 4 pm Christmas Day. I usually respond personally to each and every email during storms.'sory you were not pleased. Ken

    Terrible Company

I cannot believe how terrible this company is. We decided to try Metro Snow and Ice this season as our snow removal service. We were warned against them but with their promises stated on their website, we decided to try them out. What a big mistake! This is a company we will never use again and if they remain in business, we will be sure to pass on the word on how terrible they are. Here is a list of some of their promises on their site and how they stack up: 1st There Guarantee: This is a crock. On our short street alone there are at least 4 different companies being used and ours is ALWAYS the last to be plowed (IF it gets done at all). 4cm Snow Start (not 5cm) : We have not had a storm where we got only 4cm as opposed to 5cm+ so it's hard to know if they would actually go out on only 4cm. Bi Monthly 'Anti-Icing' : This has yet to happen, 3 months into our service contract. GPS Email Alerts to Clients : We (or any other friends that use this company) have never received GPS alerts, EVER. Email Alerts & Bulletins: This is especially frustrating. They do send these emails but they are filled with false information and empty promises. They will tell you they are coming out at a certain time and show up hours later or not at all. They send emails asking their "valued" customers to not complain as much and not call! They tell us that they will only take complaints up to a certain time! I cannot believe that this is what they call customer service and people still use them. They send emails saying they are coming for a "Courtesy Clearing" at 5am and then decide to just cancel it about 4 hours later because the owner was a bit "trigger happy" sending the email?!? One time they sent an email saying they would be coming out at 7pm to clear laneways. Then follow up with an email saying they changed their minds and they will now be coming out at 4 am ?!? The emails are filled with spelling errors and are often confusing and incoherent.

    Answer from pro:

Apologies if you are not satisfied your first yet using. Snow clearing company. Metro is the ONLY form that even attempts to communicate with customers before, during and after storms on an ongoing basis providing information on clearings. With most companies you are simply 'flying blind' throughout the winter season. We are always happy to refund the balance of the service contract if you fee[l you can be better serviced elsewhere. Can’t even bother to show up

There have been about 6 snow events and they haven’t even shown up after three of them. Hey constantly email telling their customers to stop complaining and only email once. Don’t call. Don’t be angry. They rarely if ever bother replying to emails. They NEVER apologize for not showing up. Been customers of Appleseed which turned into Metro for nearly 8 years. This will be our last.

    Answer from pro:

We have in fact cleared your property each=h and every time. Just not as fast as you expect us to be there for you. I do reply to each and every email. Sending many emails simply puts your emails in. Spam/Spoofing file and are not received. Ive stated this to customers many times but they insist on emailing every hour over and over again. Use the 'Issue Ticket; system suggested and things are resolved;bed much quicker during events. Metro

Unreliable and frustrating UPDATE FEB 2

Your driveway will be missed consistently. You will be phoning the company and will a) be unable to leave a message bc voicemail is full or b) leave a msg and get no call back when you specifically ask for one. You will get emails that are borderline rude and aggressive from the president of the company, the tone of which makes it sound like customers have no right to complain about poor service. I've hired metro for the past few years and I believe they've taken on more than they can handle. I will absolutely not be renewing my contract next year. I could handle a few missed clearings, but the customer service is absolutely lacking and that's what will keep me away. UPDATE: I've politely requested a refund because I was so dissatisfied with the service this year. I was told it would take 10-14 business days. It has now been three weeks and my repeated email inquiries are being ignored. Next step is for me to visit their office. After that, it's Better Business Bureau. Unacceptable customer service.

    Answer from pro:

Rachel, Every customer has the right to complain at any time. And we encourage feedback. Just not in a rude, aggressive or belligerent manner. I've been nothing upfront about this policy every year since 2005. Thanks bud sorry you may be leaving next year. Ken

STAY AWAY FROM WESTEND METRO SNOW REMOVAL....

Christmas day- ruined. They showed up at 11:30 pm, my plans were cancelled. 2018 01 08- still no one. Car on the road! Sent emails- no response. "After" office hours- so no one there to answer the phone. Sending emails- and will pursue compensation. Contract is meaningless. Yup- Neighbors driveways (with other snow removal contractors)- cleared twice today.

    Answer from pro:

We cleared every driveway on Christmas in the westend starting at 2 pm. All were visited by 6am Boxing Day. GPS reports bear this out. We're happy to refund any client according to the cancellation policies if you're expectations are higher then that held in the service contract. Thanks Metro Team

Owner is great with his emails, but bloody awful on snow removal!!

One of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. Owner demonstrates huge level of disrepect to us, his clients. Nothing but excuses. Had to shovel the snow myself at Christmas...TWICE!!! No apology or any offer of compensation! Yes, your driver was sick, but where were you?? Sitting by the fire no doubt. You should have gone out to cover for the void. Any smart business owner would. Had to plow my car through the end of my driveway once again TODAY to get into my garage. (Jan/8) After emailing us that clean up would begin at 7am, they finally arrived at 7:20 PM! The driver by the way blew the snow right at my front window!! I’ll check for damage in the morning!! Ken Dale , the owner is great with stories that none of us really care about! FOCUS ON YOUR ROUTES!!!! FORGET THE FLUFF!! Your clients on my street are disgusted!

    Answer from pro:

It's really sad when someone makes their review 'personal' such as above,as this is a large company with many moving parts. When someone basically is 'rude, insulting or belligerent' as this reviewer has resorted with us by phone or email or even here , its a fine example of why our 'no abuse policy' is employed. I sent all men out 'on Christmas ' to clear. Difficult for any company over Christmas Day , yet most came to the plate and worked hard until late Boxing Day. We don't mind polite criticism and constructive feedback back as our right, we draw the line at rude aggressive people at attacking and yelling at the staff who are giving up their Christmas Day to address needs of customers. I make no apology here for simply deleting or cancelling rude, aggressive clients whose level of 'expectations ' are unrealistic, demanding or exceed the service thresholds in the contract. That's why I'm 'upfront' always about....don't abuse my staff. Pretty simple and my choice as a business owner. Many companies now are employing this exact position now and simply firing rude customers on the spot. We work hard doing a job that most people either 'can't do unfortunately ' or 'choose not to do' for whatever reason. And we do this for a very small, affordable cost. As per the 'fluff', most of my clients, (many shut ins and seniors' appreciate the information, the 'connection with them' and I will never stop engaging with them through my emails and contacting them. They've been with me for many years, I cherish them, look after them and value them. Thanks Ken

    Poor service..none responsive...

I paid half up front, got 3 snow removals but they never returned to remove snow plow dumps after each storm as promised in their lovely email updates. The owner came by late fall had a great chat with his wonderful highly skilled people. Never again.

    Answer from pro:

As you stated I personally visited your property and spoke with you. We DO return after city graders, do 'car clean outs' the following day but obviously not as quickly as you would like. Ken
