    Build new house & Good service!

    There are many builders in Calgary, but I think Hopwell was a good choice. Special thanks to Elaine and Janet from The Mahogany Showhome. From the first consultation, They knew very well what we wanted, and we received a lot of help in lot selection and model selection. It is unfortunate that we have to wait until the house is completed, but I believe that it will be built well, and I think I can wait happily. If you are looking for a good builder, I think Hopwell is the best solution.

    New Home Buyer’s Experience

    I wanted to take a moment to share my experience working with Hopewell thus far. While I must admit that I am not enjoying the process as much as I had hoped or expected, there are a couple of the staff members who have truly made a positive impact on my experience. Mike from Warranty and Matt from construction have been incredibly attentive and responsive to my needs and concerns. There have been some bumps in the road that would have made the entire experience a bummer, but the dedication and commitment of these 2 staff to go above and beyond have certainly salvaged my experience working with the company. During every engagement, they demonstrate exceptional knowledge and expertise in their field and take the time to explain everything in detail. Thank you

    New home

    My son paid a deposit of 19,000 approximately 6 months ago. Ground has still not been broken ! In the mean time , 3 other houses in the same area are framed which the lots were not even sold when my son gave them the deposit , by a different builder. I can understand problems with trades being behind but they haven't even started. I would never recommend this builder to anyone.

    Mahogany Laned - My expereince to date

    ***UPDATE*** A couple weeks I took possession of my new home, which ended up being about 4-5 months late. That said, the communication and updates from Hopewell through the latter half of the process were greatly improved from my original experience. Possession went relatively smoothly. The person coordinating the key transfer was friendly and helpful. All and all, I am happy with the house. ***ORIGINAL POST*** Last February I placed a deposit with Hopewell on a pre construction home in Mahogany. Both Breann and Carly in the sales centre were extremely friendly and helpful, but unfortunately this where my positive experience ends. Within a few weeks of placing my deposit, Hopewell went from telling me that the home would be ready in 7-8 months to telling me that it’s too early to know when it will be done. At first I was told that construction would start within 6-8 weeks, then it was 10-12 weeks, then 14 weeks, and now the latest is 20+ weeks. Every time the schedule slipped, I had to send multiple emails and phone calls to get a response. The lack of communication and has been incredibly frustrating. After escalating my concerns to senior management, I was finally provided with an updated possession date. They are now indicating that the house will not be finished until Feb 2022. This represents a 4-5 month delay from what they had originally told me just 3 months ago. I realize there is a lumber shortage but that does not excuse the need to manage client expectations when they place their deposit. It was well know that there was a lumber shortage when I purchased the home, and I was even told that prices were about to go up because of this. It’s also apparent that other builders have already started construction on lots that were offered to me when I was looking to buy. Hopewell, please understand the impact that these delays have on people’s lives and try to do a better job at managing expectations. As a reputable builder, I’m optimistic that Hopewell will do everything they can to recover the schedule as much as possible. I will keep this review up-to-date as thing progress.

    Excellent service, love my home!

    This is my third Hopewell home in 5 years and I just completed my final warranty visit with the team. I was so pleased at how quickly my inquires were responded to and how excellent the service team handled anything that needed to be fixed up from possession. All of the trades were very professional and completed the warranty work with great attention to detail. I'm very happy with my Hopewell home in Mahogany and would recommend the builder to anyone. Thank you for a great experience.

    The whole unit

    The house that we bought in Edmonton is falling apart, nails are popping through the drywall, corners are separating, ceiling is sagging down on walls, cracking floor tiles, horizontal and vertical cracks in the drywall, and that is the beginning, the warranty did not want to cover most of the repairs, but when they did some of the work, their trade had ruined the new carpets all over the house, drywall tradesmen never taped or cover the carpets while they applied drywall compound, nor while they were sanding the walls (whole house, not just some areas), painters never covered nor taped the carpets either, while they were painting the walls (whole house, not just some areas), I asked for carpets to be replaced, because prior to the repairs they were new, Hopewell cleaned(Just vacuum) the carpets twice, and Hopewell told me that that is the best that they can do. Carpets are full of drywall compound dust, and that dust is cancerous, my wife and I have to breath that on daily basis, and most important, the repairs are ongoing already for almost a one year and it is not finished yet.

    great builder

    Great company with amazing homes. When considering a great builder, look at Hopewell, they really know their stuff. The best neighbourhoods, best interior design and lots of great design options.

    Mahogany Laned - MAJOR CONSTRUCTION DEFECTS LED TO MOULD

    My wife and I purchased a Sabal/Hopewell home in Mahogany - Calgary in 2014. We dealt with the Hopewell through 1-year workmanship warranty with notable and inconvenient repairs throughout the home. In late September 2018 we noticed mould on an exterior wall and engaged both Hopewell and the warranty provider. The process has been horrendous. The repairs and mould remediation have consistently taken longer than articulated, were attempted without proper permitting by the City, and have resulted in our home being uninhabitable for over a year. Hopewell has consistently pressured our family by financial and other means to accept work despite failure to follow industry established procedure and best practices to avoid further endangering our family. Our home is not currently in a state to sell or live in, despite our best efforts. It is my opinion that a new home builder should be evaluated largely based on warranty and customer service, which extends long after the sales and construction phases. I would not recommend Hopewell for these reasons.

    Happy Hopewell Homeowners!

    I cannot begin to express how happy my husband and I are with the service we have received from everyone with Hopewell Residential, in particular, with Chalsey Bugeaud and Rachel Scott. From the moment we walked in to the showhomes they host, we knew we were home. They both made us so comfortable and answered every single little question that came up from us as first time home builders. We both remember leaving our first appointment with Chalsey grinning ear to ear. People have asked us if the process of building has been stressful and our answer is always a resounding NO! Everything about the process has been so easy, fast, efficient and informative. Chalsey and Rachel are an incredible team and we feel lucky to have had the opportunity to build our first home with them and Hopewell Residential. We have already recommended them to so many of our friends, family and colleagues due to the wonderful experience we have received. Thank you Chalsey and Rachel! We are so in love with our new home and you both played a huge part in bringing it to life!!!

    Excellent experience in a beautiful community!

    I moved in last summer and couldn't be happier. I was given a great recommendation by the sales team for the lot that I'm currently on and didn't realize how much I'd love this location. Mahogany is beautiful overall, but this lot looks over greenspace and is close to the beach club. It was a fantastic recommendation and I appreciated the sales team understanding of my needs from the beginning. The build was fantastic with a construction supervisor who took a lot of time and extra care to ensure I knew what was happening at every point and answered all my questions. Now that I have moved in, the service and warranty team is taking care of me. I had an issue with my dishwasher, due to a manufacturer defect, and it was fixed the very next day! Overall I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy AGAIN in Mahogany and through Hopewell. This is my third Hopewell home and I'd certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality home in a community that couldn't possibly offer more!
