After deciding to finish our basement, we obtained a number of quotes from different contractors, including Yan, who provided a very competitive quote for the job. While not the absolute lowest quote, it was fully detailed which gave us more confidence in their ability to finish the job without unforeseen change orders, and the design process involving Ludmila was a real value add for us. Ludmila was fantastic and came out to do full measurements of the basement and provided good advice as to layout in order to maximize our usable space and the 2D plans and 3D layouts allowed us to visualize the final space and make a few changes prior to construction. Once the job began, Michael was our project manager and he was also very professional, keeping us informed of progress and upcoming schedules and he was very responsive to questions from us and the tradesmen on site. As promised, the construction team was here for 12 hours a day, six days a week and we found all of the tradesmen to be very professional, polite and willing to answer any questions we might have. There were a couple of minor hiccups and change orders during the process and the hiccups were dealt with within the contract price and the change orders were priced fairly and incorporated without problems. The full job was completed within 3 weeks, a few days ahead of schedule. Clean-up was thorough and the few items on the punch list were addressed immediately. We'd be more than happy to recommend and work with Yan, Ludmila, Michael and the Capable team again!

My parents basement was turned into a 2 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, laundry room, furnace room and storage room. I met Yan 3 months ago for my free estimate (The Capable Group was the the 3rd contractor I met with), he was very friendly, professional and prepared. I got my estimate right there during our meeting. Yan explained to me the whole process from demolition, design, timelines and construction. The choice for me to chose the capable group was easy but before I commented to Yan to use his services I explained to him that this project must be completed in 90 days because my wife is expecting our first child around August 1st. And the reason we are moving to my parents home is for me provide care for my elderly parents so I needed to be comfortable, warm and safe for my Wife and baby. The whole basement (aprox 900ft) was completed in 8 weeks. All their timelines were true. We first meet their designer to talk about our needs and our design style. After a 1 day demo we picked our layout from 2 options, after that we began work with the Capable Groups Project Manager Mike. Mike is professional and very knowledgeable, he made himself available through the whole project. He addressed all our concerns and fixed any issues that came up immediately. We have been living in the space now for 2 weeks with no issues. I look forward to the future and have asked the Capable Group to help me renovate the entire house.

Capable Basements did a fantastic job with our basement project. It was done with quality and on time. Yann helped us to properly scope the project and had many beneficial suggestions during the quote stage. Ludmila understood our vision and helped to see it come true with design and colour selections. The standard material selection was excellent. We did not do any upgrades. Mike kept the project on track and we always knew what was going to happen next. The trades were professional,courteous and respectful of our home. The quickly corrected and requests that we made. We wholeheartedly and have already recommend Capable to our friends.

We just got our basement finished with the Capable group and are very happy with the work done. Between the designer, Ludmila, who gave us a number of great design options, Michael, the Project Manager, who steered the work through all the issues that cropped up, we are happy with the process. My wife and I initially hired Capable Group to just finish our basement. I went through the quoting process with 4-5 other companies and felt most comfortable with Capable. They were competitively priced and very detailed oriented in the quoting and design process. My wife and I also decided to get them to replace the hardwood and staircase on the main floor and upstairs in our home, as well as to renovate the master washroom. The project was completed in a timely manner and the quality of work was outstanding. If I decide to do future renovations Capable will be the company that I hire again after the positive experience that I had.

We were looking to finish our basement. After months of searching for the right contractor, the frustration was building. We couldn't find a contractor who was reasonably priced and who was really a one stop shop. Then we stumbled upon the Capable Group. And from the very fist phone call, I knew we had found the right contractor for our project. Yan, the salesman/owner was very professional and you could immediately tell he was experienced and knowledgeable. He answered all of my initial questions and so we set up an appointment. He made sure to mention on the phone that he would have a firm price for our project during our first visit! No other contractor was able to supply a cost immediately so naturally I was skeptical. But true to his word, when he left our appointment, we had a firm contract price for all of the work required. I say a firm price because the price quoted during our initial visit was the price we paid in the end for the work detailed in the estimate. There were no hidden costs. The price was reasonable, so reasonable that we decided to renovate our en-suite as well. The Capable Group has a interior designer (Ludmila) and a project manager (Michael) which you have at your disposal. Ludmila helped us navigate through the showroom to make our selections (paint colours, vanity, tiles, etc.). She has a great eye and is a major reason why our basement looks incredible. She also supplies 3D drawings of your basement so you get a great feel of what your end product will look like. Michael the project manager is amazing. From the very first visit, he made us feel calm and at ease and his recommendations were on point. We put our trust in him and he did not disappoint. Please take his advice when he makes a recommendation. His experience and knowledge is a major asset to your project. Again, he is another major reason why our basement turned out so beautiful. The trade workers are always on time, very professional, helpful and respectful of your property. And the work they performed is of high standards. I can't say enough about how hard these guys work and great of a job they do. And they are quick but without losing the standards in the process. The total process, from start to finish, was incredible. I can't say enough how great The Capable Group is and how they made our vision come to life.

After a long search process for a contractor, we finally came across Yan from Capable Group. They stood out to us because of their great reputation, fair price, and the all-inclusive approach. At that point I couldn't stand pushy sales techniques and I found Yan to be the opposite. He answered all the questions and gave us an itemized quote. He guaranteed their price will not change (and it didn't !). He also guarantess their work for 2 years. They have a comprehensive contract that details the process, and ensured we understand exactly what to expect. I recommend reading it in detail! Step 1 - My wife and I are not expereinced in major renos so the designer was a huge differentator for us. Ludmila was responsive and patient with our questions and she helped us make all the key decisions up-front and make detailed 3D CAD drawings so we can see what our basement would look like even before the work started. We made sure our basement is totally clear before the next step. For us that meant no more access to laundry (an issue with 2 little kids) so we appreciated the speed with which they moved through the next step. Step 2 - Once the work started they worked quickly. You can expect them at your home 12 h a day, 6 days a week during the first part. Experts from each trade involved me in key decisions that could affect the design. As with any major project it is best to remain involved, and they really respected my questions and suggestons. The pace of work slows down when they put in walls and start focusing on details. At that point we got our laundry back. Then they took their time where it mattered most and their handyman come in at the end to touchup everything. Step 3 - They clean the basement thoroughly and at that point you can move back in. They were responsive long after that when we asked them to come back for more touchups that we noticed over days and weeks. Overall we were extremely happy with the results and the interactions we had. I would recommend Capable Group for your next project.

We just completed a major renovation with Capable Group and are THRILLED with it. They worked through our vision with us, and made it a reality. Pricing was fair, and it was a one stop shop. They stand behind their work, which I appreciate tremendously. Between Yan, Ludmila (the designer) and Michael our project manager, we have created a spectacular showpiece. It went from ugly, dark and dangerous, to BEAUTIFUL, bright, airy and completely usable space. You do not feel like you are in a basement anymore. It feels totally like a stunning new condo. We reached out to capable group to finish our basement and add some cabinetry and countertops to our kitchen. Yan and his team were amazing from the word go. They took the time to answer all our questions and helped guide us through everything from blueprinting and layout design to paint color and fixture selection. The end result is exactly what we wanted And matches the original design exactly. Overall we are extremely happy with Capable Group and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do renovations.

I cannot recommend Capable Group enough. Yan and his project manager, Michael, put the customer first. From the very beginning, Yan presented as professional, attentive to our wishes, and concerned to keep the costs as reasonable as possible. Throughout, the group were immediately responsive to all my needs and my concerns. They took a very stressful situation - mold and resultant structural damage - and assisted in coming up with a plan of action. It certainly helps that many of the tasks - engineer, plumber, electrician etc. - are all in-house, which allowed me to relax and let them take care of coordinating everything. This also creates a level of comfort and trust knowing that the various aspects of the job are governed by the same care and responsibility exhibited by Yan throughout the project. Yan presented us with a unique approach, in which an overall quote was provided which included our choice of basic tiles and fixtures. To the extent that we bought our own tiles and fixtures, we were then credited the amount it would have cost us to buy them through Capable. And the credit was eminently reasonable. They were content to include small extras at no extra cost. Oleg, for example, took it upon himself to take a classic old and rusted bathroom vent (which I had grown attached to) and clean it up like new. It is the small things that count, and the small things you remember. We have a wonderful bathroom!! And more importantly, I have a happy wife. Thank you to the entire Capable team. We will be using you again shortly.
