    Alarm System Replacement

    We had our old system replaced, and can say that the monitoring is good (a couple of self-inflicted alarms where they called immediately), but the install was painful. Workers left a mess all over the house (bits of wire are bad for dogs), old equipment was left where it was ripped out, alarm sensors not consistently placed, etc. We held payment until the Sales person + head of install team came back and resolved our issues (i.e. made the install clean and consistent). Recommend that you hold back payment to make sure they do the job the way you want it.

    MONITORING - NOT!

    Several times my alarm was activated by a guest who stepped outside to smoke. Never did they call the house or my cell phone. I called them the last time and asked if they had received the signal at their end that the alarm had been activated. The lady said that they had, but someone had shut it off! ?!?!?! W H A T ?!?!?! SO I DON'T GET A CALL BACK TO SEE IF I'M OK???? WHY THEN, DO I HAVE A KIDNAP CODE??? I cancelled my service with them immediately!

    Wired residential alarm system

    When I signed-up with ADT October 2007, the Sales Representative they sent out showed up over 3 hours late to our initial consultation. This first contact with ADT should have been an indication of the level of professionalism and customer service I would receive from the company in the months to follow. Despite this first impression however, I signed up with ADT based on their reputation as "the leading home security company in North America." From the moment I became a client, I have received frustrating customer service, experienced multiple time consuming installation visits (totalling well over 30 hours in a fully gutted house), and have been given unsatisfactory responses to my account inquiries. To date, I have been in contact with my Sales Representative, her boss and the ADT local office on numerous occassions as a few of the hardware items I purchased and had installed were faulty and had to be removed. Getting money back from ADT is near impossible as they cannot credit your account but rather need to send you a cheque in the mail. I've now been waiting for a cheque for nearly 2 months. For anyone thinking of using ADT, all I can say is STAY AWAY!

    Alarm system

    They were prompt with an estimate and gave me lots of info about the system. They gave me time to make my desicion and were reasonalby priced. Great job guys.

    alarm system

    I bought an older home with an existing alarm system. The ADT rep did not explain anything regarding alarms systems and the system that I had adopted. Multiple technicians came to the house and the problems were never explained to me or resolved. I finally gave up. This company is poorly organized and unprofessional. I am looking for another service.

    HOME SECURITY

    ADT has numerous home security options. The sales rep went through all the options and we picked the system that suited us best. The installation was seemless. The techinician explained the system well. We feel secure with our decision!

    Home Security

    The installer fast, efficient and friendly. However throughtout our service time we had numerous fire and sensor false alarms while we were at work and was charged for each one. They call the house or other contact number and when they get no answer they send fire/police, however, when the alarm goes off it shuts off the phone line so of course no one is going to answer. $100 per false visit was unacceptable, but we had no desire to have bad credit either by not paying. Numerous telephone and email complaints brought nothing at all. I would suggest to use someone else.

    Home alarm Install through builder

    I don't recommend ADT, they are expensive, and their support service is terrible. On a 3year contract they only warranty the system for 1 year... It took numerous of calls, and hours of waiting on hold to finally find out how to cancel my service.

    instalation of wireless home security system

    I signed a 3yr contract (approx$450 per yr for monitoring) and specifically told the sales person that I wanted to own the system when the contact expires. He told me I could buy it from them in 3yrs. This wasn't written in the contract and I'm kicking myself because the contract says "equipment remains property of ADT" in small print. I've had no problems with the system...only problems with customer service. Now that the contract is expiring :), I'm trying to get ADT to tell me the cost of the system so they don't take it off my walls. They told me a year ago it was $599. They won't give me a price now and don't return my calls. The "Escalation Center" is supposed to call me now after I've already spoken to Dana, Natasha, Janet, Pearl. Two people in another province and various customer service people in the USA...that's where my calls were often transfered. Stay away from ADT!

    Installing Home Security System

    The area rep. for Dunbar was terrible (Tarpaul). Unprofessional in providing a quote on a notepad with minimal detail. I had to repeatedly request some documentation showing what the security package included since the packaged we were being offered did not match anything listed on the website. Tarpaul did not have a price list, rather she wrote down prices from memory which she kept correcting as we met with her. And hse kept saying "oops, I forgot this other cost". Extremely unprofessional. We asked her to review the existing equipment in the house to see if it could be re-used. She 'checked' with a technician and we had her provide a quote before we signed up. During the installation, the technician (who was excellent) advised that Tarpaul was wrong and we had to incurr $200 of additional charges. He gave us a slight discount for the inconvenience which we paid via VISA. Then a month later ADT charged us again but for the undiscounted price. When we complained they reversed the discounted charge, rather than the incorrect one!! Argh!!!!
