We were very happy with our experience with Mud Monkeys. We hired them to waterproof part of our basement - they did a great job, we were very pleased with the work. Once that job was complete we discovered more water problems in other areas of the basement. We called them to see if they could possibly work on the rest of the basement - this was during the absolute busiest time (one of Toronto's wettest summers on record!). This is when they bent over backwards for us. They came back in less than a week and got the rest of the basement finished in record time so that we could start our music school in September. While they were working we had summer music camps going on upstairs. They were very courteous not to make noise while the camps were on. (Thanks Shaun for slugging in out on the jackhammer at 8:00am!) We cannot thank them enough for doing such a great job and having such amazing customer service, especially Nick, Darby, Shaun and their team. Thanks so much!

I called Mud Monkeys in the spring to look into the drainage issues around my house as the water table was regularly rising above the basement floor, forming a river from the foundation wall/floor seam, to the floor-drain across numerous channels, a serious issue even for an unfinished basement. Darby showed up promptly to inspect & quote, and while I was dead-set on doing exterior waterproofing when we first met (thinking that was just how it was meant to be done), he pitched the option to do the interior + entire floor for ~$1k more. This actually made a lot more sense, given my basement floor was incredibly uneven (~6" height variance in spots), preventing any potential future finishing. Darby also suggested that my cinderblock columns could be replaced with steel posts with new foundations for a nominal fee, something I had not considered, which really cleaned the space up. Work commenced a couple of months later, everything was dug out by hand. I work from home most days, and considering the type and scope of work being done, the crew was as polite & non-intrusive as you could ask for, and did fantastic work cleaning up when the job was done. The crew was also very helpful dealing with a few of the things you might expect to encounter, but forget to ask about (IE: helping move in/out heavy appliances, and also dealing with/documenting proof/chasing down a city inspector who repeatedly no-showed for inspections). All in, I have zero hesitation in recommending, and utilizing Mud Monkeys again should the need arise. The finished floor looks great, is quite level, and we've had a few heavy rains since the work has completed without the slightest hint of moisture penetating. PS - Floor photo's were taken while the floor was still drying, the color did uniform out! :)

I asked a neighbour for a referral for a basement water leak and I went with this Company. The owner is efficient cost effective and I had a short wait and most expedient and dry as a bone service. I have only great things to say about this family owned company who take such pride in a service well done. I'm very confident with this recommendation

Darby and team helped dig out the basement in our 90+ year old home to add over a foot in ceiling height. Right from the start, Darby was patient and helpful with his advice. We didn't have the biggest job compared to some of the major tear downs in our neighbourhood but he took the time to answer all of our questions and was prompt on emails. We found him to be very trustworthy and once we had booked the job, the team was great and worked around our schedule as part of a bigger home renovation we were completing. The team was flexible as our plans changed and during the dig they were very neat and kept on schedule (which is great given our other renos were well behind schedule). Darby even sent his team back to repair some of our lawn that was damaged in the winter because of the storage bin (we had no where else to put it). Highly recommended - we told our friends about MudMonkeys and they ended up going with Darby and team for their underpinning project.

This is the second time I worked with Mud Monkeys and I am as happy with the service as before. I would recommend Mud Monkeys with no hesitation. Darby and his team are very professional and also very good at what they do. He is one of the most trustworthy contractors that you would come across. I had previously done exterior water-proofing and this time around we wanted to lower the basement. The full work was described to me in details at every step of the project and all my questions (and worries) were answered. The team showed up everyday with positive attitude and cleaned up as much as possible before they leave. They started the job on the agreed time and finished right on time.

I was having water pouring through the brick wall into my basement storage room for many months. I got 5 separate quotes in person from different company's, before hiring Mud Monkeys. Darby Braun the owner came across as honest, respectful, and very kind. I felt that I was in good hands hiring his team. I was anxious to have the waterproofing job done before our new puppy arrived. Nick made sure that the job was booked before the puppy arrival. The work was explained to me step by step. The workers were courteous and very respectful, they kept the property clean, and were able to finish within 2 days. A few weeks later another area needed to be waterproofed, and Darby had the additional work done right away and at no additional cost to me. I would absolutely recommend this company to other neighbours or friends who are having water leakage issues. Mud Monkeys showed up on time each day, worked hard, and always kept the common area between houses clean. The job ran smoothly, and now when it rains I don't have to spend the day in the basement trying to soak up the water.

From the initial assessment to the finished product these guys were a complete, professional pleasure to deal with. They were all very pleasant, polite, knew what they were doing and cleaned up at the end of the day and end of the job. It's important to note that they were also honest. I had one contractor tell me that they were going to have to rip out my deck, jack up the house, put in a new foundation and wall, etc. He said it would cost around $35,000 - $40,000 to do. Mud Monkeys dealt with the leak for under $3,000 and finished the job in two days. I recommend them highly! Jon

Very good experience. They dug down my leaking north wall, installed weeping tiles, sealed the wall, and refilled, dropping by twice to top-up the gravel surface. Pleasant, competent, and trustworthy.

Darby, Nick, and the rest of the crew were fantastic to work with--professional, courteous, considerate, honest, and just plain nice to be around. I would absolutely recommend them and have already done so to whoever mentions that they're considering a basement reno.
