Replacement of mast and stand pipe during the ice storm

A true gem. Mike fixed our stand pipe/mast after a tree ripped our hydro line down during the ice storm. He also had an ESA inspector certify his work so when Hydro does finally get around to fixing our line it is as straight forward as possible. During a time when there are so many people being taken advantage of it is truly amazing to encounter such a hard working, honest, capable and compassionate man.

    Knob & Tube Removal/Pot Lights/Updating Electrical

We wanted to write this note to thank Mike and his team. We just used Mueller Electric to remove remaining knob & tube in an older Toronto home we recently purchased in Moore Park, and also install basement pot lights, exterior lighting, and several other items to update the electrical work in the home. His team was professional, worked hard, and got the job done on time. This is our second time using Mueller in the last month, the first time being their help with adding a wall receptacle for a wall mounted LED tv. We look forward to having them be our go to Electrician team for future needs. Thanks Mike!

Knob and tube removal/ complete update

Mike did a great job removing the knob and tube from my house. New outlets were put in, smoke detectors wired and pot lights put in. Mike did excellent work and was really nice about adding extras like dimmers and removing a pipe for me that was in my attic. He really takes a big picture approach to customer service which I really appreciated. He brought in the inspector with no problems and he labelled the box for me. He even helped me to properly vent my bathroom/kitchen fans to the outside. Overall, I was very satisfied with his work and attitude. He always answered my calls promptly and was good with communication. He was very trustworthy so I would highly recommend him.

Complete electrical rewiring + added outlets

This is loooong overdue - 2 years in fact! Two years ago, we had Mueller Electric rewire our entire 100 yr old house and were COMPLETELY satisfied with them. This was/is our 1st home and we were planning to blow in insulation, so we wanted to rewire the house first. This was our 1st renovation project. We did a LOT of research as to what to ask, what qualifications were required, etc - we had a spreadsheet of the different companies to record the answers! We had 5 different quotes, including one from a company recommended by Mike Holmes (which was most expensive and didn't provide anything extra) and others through Homestars. We found out about Mueller Electric from a neighbour. Their price was mid-range, but most important, Mike was very very thorough in his assessment prior to giving us a quote and describing the work. He was the ONLY contractor (out of 5) whose walk-through included using instruments/tools and looking in great detail at our wiring. Every other contractor just did a general walk-through. In fact, before he stepped into our house he had looked at the outside wire connections and suspected it was 60 amp connecting to the city - not the 100 amp we believed we had. Mike was the ONLY contractor to notice this. We thought we might be wrong and asked a few other contractors, even had an ESA inspection done. Well, after we told Mike that the ESA said it was 100amp, he arranged for the inspector to come by and he stripped a piece of wire to show the inspector that it was not 100amp. The ESA inspector agreed and subsequently changed the report. All of this was before we signed up with Mike and gave him a single penny. So, we signed up with Mueller Electric. Mike's crew was great. They worked hard each day. We were very inquisitive and liked to know what was going on - they answered questions throughout the process, pointed out wonky wiring stuff, gave us no attitude and were easygoing (but hardworking). Most days, there were the same 2 or 3 workers, with an occasional additional hand (including 2 coop students learning the ropes). They wired in dimmers, a bathroom fan, 3-way switches, GFI-receptacles, and other new outlets. We had bought ceiling fans (with remotes) for the 3 bdrms and they even assembled them from the boxes and installed them; ditto for all our other new light fixtures. In our kitchen, they rewired so we could run the microwave, toaster, and kettle at once. We can't say enough about them and would and have recommended them without any hesitation. Mike was easy to deal with and answered and returned calls promptly. He is high energy and might be a bit intense for some, but nothing bad. I am surprised by the other person's experience. Mueller Electric's services were very well-priced, especially with the knowledge and expertise that Mike brings. No additional costs, no hassles. Written detailed contract provided. Thanks Mike and crew!

Complete Home Rewiring - Knob & Tube removed

We hired Mueller Electrical Contractors to remove all knob & tube wiring within our home, do a complete rewire, including adding new electrical for our kitchen & bathroom renovations and upgrade the electrical panel to 100 amp service. We dealt directly with Michael Mueller who quoted us $8,517 to complete the job. A 40% deposit was requested and paid before the project began. His crew showed up on the day/time promised to start the job. Before walls were enclosed the City of Toronto inspector showed up to do an initial inspection of all electrical work completed to date. The inspector identified numerous issues which neecded to be resolved before he would signing off. At this point I recieved a call from Mike screaming at me that he "almost lost his licence" and "would never take a job in Etobicoke again". Before we knew it, Mike pulled 90% of his existing crew off the job and replaced them with more senior staff. The senior crew had to rewire about 80% of the work that had been completed at that point. I recieved a subsequent call from Mike again screaming at me that he was loosing money on this job and vowed never to work in Etobicoke again....Well thank goodness. I would hate to have him treat other customers they way I was treated. If he had provided competent electricians in the first place, he wouldn't have found himself in that position. Thank goodness we aquired all building permits for our project. I'd hate to think what may have happened if we hadn't had an inspector present. At the end of the day, Mueller passed the City inspection, however they neglected to complete rewiring of lighting in the master bedroom closet - instead electing to disconnect the service and leave the light fixtures dangling by thier wires. They also neglected to properly label the new electrical pannel. We discovered this several months after completion when my husband went to change an exterior light fixture. He THOUGHT he had switched off the appropriate breaker - but it was still LIVE. Investigating further, we discovered that the electricians had randomlly assigned labels to the new breakewr pannel. When I informed Mike that the crew w had not properly labelled the pannel and that my husband could have been electrocuted as a result- his response was "it's not our job to label the pannel" and was not accounted for in the original contract. We could do it ourselves or he would be happy to provide someone to come out and map it at an additional cost......What repuatable electrical contractor doesn't map their work? I would not use or recommend this company to anyone.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Melanie, I can only say that I'm not really sure how things got so out of control. But I'm really sorry for the bad experience that you have had with our company! I had gone through a Large Bankruptcy due to an office manager Embezzling several hundred thousand dollars! Everything is back on track and if there is anything you'd like me to do make matters better for you and your husband Id be happy to come out personally and do it at no cost to you... Best Regards MM
