I had a new SmartAir furnace and air conditioner from Reliance installed on September 27; I had some difficulty understanding how the thermostat worked, as it seemed considerably more complicated than the old one I had had for years. I thought it wasn't working right, that it had been wired incorrectly or something, and was regretting having given up my old one. Service technician Phil Latour (Team Member #950) came to my house and did an incomparable job of checking the installation and explaining to me how things worked. He took the covers off the thermostat and the furnace, so he could check the wiring of both (all of which proved to have been done absolutely correctly). He explained to me how the thermostat worked, and had me practise changing the temperature and so on, until I was clear about what to do and how to do it. He really went beyond the call of duty, washing the steps of my basement stairs, which had gotten all dirty when the furnace was brought down to the basement, and putting on the cover of my air conditioner for me. He was great! And now that I understand how everything works, I am very happy that I did make the purchase.
