    Renter Beware

Currently faced with a $450 cancellation fee to cancel an assumed hot water tank rental (signed up for by the previous home-owner) which is over 7 years old. When I asked the term of the lease I was informed that it is indefinite, so no end date (how is that even legal?). I then requested to see the original contract (signed by the previous home-owner), which they sent me the digitized version of, however, they are unable to provide me with terms and conditions associated with that contract as they were on the back of the contract and this was never digitized. They sent me some other terms and conditions, and told me these are the one appropriate to my contract, however, I am expected to just take their word for it since they do not have the original document. Interestingly, at first they did say it was the back of my contract, until I pointed out the serial number of the contact on the front did not match the one on the back (meaning it was from someone elses contract) I wouldn't mind, but one of the reasons for me wanting out and installing a tankless is because of the illegal and dangerous install of the current tank (no mixer and venting incorrectly). This whole situation is frustrating as it feels like I am held to ransom. Basically I pay the outrageous cancellation fee, or they will keep billing indefinitely. I also want to point out, I did arrange for them to come quote on the new tankless system install, however, they stood me up twice with not even a phone call. There are reputable water companies out there. Unfortunately this is not one of them.

    hotwater tank

service tech showed up at agreed time, replaced a valve and cleaned up the leaking water tank. I was told that in an hour or 2 I'd have hot water. 4 hrs later NO HOT WATER! Called reliance and was told that the best they could do would be sunday btw 8-1. Very difficult to accept with the grand kids coming over for the night. I don't believe that they cannot provide service for a customer who "thought" that their problem was solved. If I could, I would leave Reliance.

    Fixing leaky pipes

The technician, Phil, was friendly, helpful and did excellent work. We highly recommend him. He provided us with information that we requested regarding purchasing a new toilet from Reliance. This is something we are considering.

    Prompt, Professional and Curteous

Friday morning, and I got to the office early. My wife texted me to ask if I took a really long shower before I left, as there was no hot water. I did not. After a little detective work, she found that the hot water tank had shut off, and the LED trouble light was blinking. I called the toll-free service number, and spoke to a very friendly CSR, who was able to book us a service appointment for the very same evening, once we were both home from work. The technician called us, and would actually be over a little early if we wanted, which was fine with us. Jason M. was very professional, asking a few questions before diagnosing a faulty sensor. In 10 minutes the problem was fixed and Jason was on his way. A short time later, we had hot water. Fantastic service!

    Water Tank service

My rating represents my view of Rliance in general an not the service that I received from the service tech who responded to my call. Service Tech Pat D. (DAA1576)Arrived when I requested service on my water tank. His level of experience was obviously very good. He was thorough and courteous. He ended up booking is an appointment the same day to have they tank replaced and talked us through a few options for our aged HVAC system.

    Hot Water Tank

We were having trouble with our hot water tank - it was cutting out from time to time. The gas sensor was, I believe, dirty. Not long after I informed Reliance Home Comfort, their plumbing technician, Bernie Cullen, arrived to fix the problem. He cleaned not only the sensor but the exhaust and intake system as well - all very quickly and efficiently. I was very pleased! Without our rental contract with Reliance, this service would have cost us over $100.
