    Air Conditioning Blower Motor

Joe Varrette the Service Technician was very helpful and knowledgeable. Reliance was very quick and easy and having the Home Protection Plan was worth it. Highly recommend this Technician and Company.

    new furnace & air conditioning

I ordered a new furnace, tankless hot water heater & air conditioner, the service and install people were amazing, couldnt have asked for more efficent professional people but after the equipment was installed that was the end of the good service. I was promised a $650.00 rebate that was to be mailed 2-4 weeks after install, that was March 18 it is now August 3 and still no rebate. I was told it would be at least another 3 weeks & I should understand because they had a higher amount of rebates to send out. Do you think they would understand if I took an extra 3 months to pay my bill because I had other bills? NO EXCUSE...

    Moving

This company is a complete joke. Forcefully required to stay with them and they absolutely made my moving experience to our new home as horrible as it could be. When I called Reliance to move my property, they advised that they needed the new home owners information; I explained to them that this information is private and confidential. They refused to close my account on the old house until this information was given. I then proceeded to contact my lawyer only to be advised that Reliance is supposed to call them (which is something normal that happens) and that they were being difficult. I called Reliance again, only to be rejected again by this ridiculous, unprofessional call centre. I now had to reach back out to my lawyer to get them to contact Reliance directly. I will be actively looking elsewhere on how to get Reliance out of my life for good. Pathetic customer service and I refuse to recommend anyone to do business with them.

    Installation problems/concerns

First, the consultant Rob was great, talked us through options and we elected to a rental agreement for gas heat and new A/C. Install date was scheduled for 3 days later a Thursday 15th, great. Well after that it all went out of shape. The crew phoned just after 9am to say they were on their way, they turn up at 11.30, a trip that should have been 1 and half max. They start work and stay until 6 pm saying they will return next day to finish and will call me at 9am to tell me what time. No call, so I call them at noon. Ahh they say, still working on another job. Huh? what about finishing us first? Be there at 3 pm they say. I ask can you finish by 6pm as we are going out. No is the reply. We will be there Monday to finish and they will call Monday at 9am! Monday we get ready for them to finish but no call. At noon I phone them get told the office will call me to re-schedule. at 3pm I get that call , the installers will there at 10 am Tuesday. they turn up at, you guessed it, 11.30am. At 9.30pm, yes 9.30 that evening they finally finish and tell us the office will arrange for Union Gas to hook up the new meter which usually takes about 3-5 days. On Friday 29th, still no sign of meter, so I call and ask whats going on. Get told will check it out and call you back on Tuesday (as Monday was holiday). Get call on Tuesday saying I have to phone Union gas. I ask why not tell me that 2 weeks ago? Dunno was response. So now I have to phone and see if Union gas will accept a request from me for the meter to be installed. From not arriving at stated times to a complete failure to inform us of changes to installation days or even basic info such as requesting the meter I am NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL. I will add however, the consultant Rob did all he could to help but the installation procedures need to be overhauled. I am sorely tempted to tell them to come and take it out as I am far from satisfied. James in Goderich

Hot water tank leaking and pilot light

We had this company come out three times before Jason mitruk came. One time they replaced one thing, then it's your furnace is to old etc etc. It would work then stop and the leaking got worse and worse. When Jason came in he found the issue and fixed it. And it's been fine ever since. I wish we would have had him the first time

    Residential HVAC replacement

Stay away from Reliance. They advertised they would size my system specifically for my home. They offered a $650 rebate from OPA for their combined certified energy star units. They never performed the claimed heat/loss calculation on the subitted OPA rebate. They put the wrong size units in, caused $3k in damage to my home, installed a downdraft furnace when it is a updraft unit, installed the filter upside down and never came back to assess any of the above issues to simply pass it quickly to their litigation law clerk. I am still dealing with this 2 years later. Reliance wants $15k now stating I agreed to a rental. Beware of this. They ask if you would like to defer payment for 16 months but as rental agreement and switch and bait you as their primary focus rather than simply doing the job advertised. I even paid for a 3rd party heat/loss calculation myself to confirm the wrong AC unit and proper combination of furnace, evaporate coil and outdoor unit which Reliance says ways an unnecessary expense. Really? I found out from the 3rd party expert that there are many factors that need to be verified about construction and placement of the home for proper sizing of an HVAC unit. Reliance asked me the the sqft of my home and I said what the real estate agent sold as my home. I find out that conditioned living space is not the same as real estate sqft just to start. Beware they have misrepresented me and apparently have no problem misrepresenting themselves to the government OPA authority. How many more homes have they used there advantage of selling the OPA rebates as members of OPA and pocket wrongful profits in not performing an adequate heat/loss calculation. The reason for the OPA rebate is not just the $650 but to provide incentive to diligently install efficient HVAC systems to better our environment , save on the need to build more generating plants and reduce our electricity bills. Reliance agreed to this with OPA to become a member as it states on the OPA Save Energy website for eligibility to be part of OPA as a contractor "AC Installation Optimization Training (mandatory)", "With this course, you’ll share and learn best practice installation to help you develop the techniques to ensure that you’re giving your customers the maximum savings from their energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment. Shame on Reliance for not following through with their commitments. So beware of a company likes this that has a clear policy when the going gets tough send it to litigation. In the end I do not think Reliance as company did this intentionally. Problems occur with anything, it is how we deal with the problems is what makes a great company or not. And in this case very poor.

    Furnace and AC Upgrade

After finding out our furnace was entirely rusted and an air conditioner component leaking, Victor Lee from Reliance Home Comfort came to the rescue. He worked with our schedule (later in the evening) and priced us several options including renting and buying, along with maintenance. The technicians were great, courteous and diligent in their work. Everything is working better than expected thanks to Victor and the team from Reliance. Highly recommend.

    Air Conditioner Installation

Russ and Brian were great. They came when I was expecting them, installed in good time, and cleaned up any mess that was made. I would recommend them to anyone.

    Thermostat /Airconditioning

As we moved to a new place, we had to get the old thermostat replaced and also look into the airconditioning which was not cooling uniformly at all floor levels. Andrew Dyer was the technician. He was very polite and patient. The thermostat he replaced at first didn't work. He had to go collect another new device and return, which he did on time. However, regards the uniformity of cooling, he suggested cleaning the internal duct system fully (as we had only done the regular duct cleaning) and to check the ceiling insulation. This however cannot be done immediately. Meanwhile, for now, the thermostat is good and cooling is fine.
