Kitchen and family room planning and remodelling

I never review companies but I was so impressed by Andros Designs that I had to tell everyone else how professional they are and how much more I enjoy my home. It is now an organized and peaceful retreat. I love coming home from work, cooking a meal and then sitting in my family room and loving that there is a place for everything. Tanya, one of the designers of Andros designed our kitchen and then I contracted her to do some interior design work. It was a pleasure working with her from the beginning. My kitchen/family room is a little awkward and I didn't know what to do with it. When she came to measure my kitchen to finalize the design she gave me a few ideas for the family room that just made sense! At that time we discussed her hourly fee and she proceeded to purchase all of my furniture, rug, coffee table, paintings, lighting fixtures and paint colours. The best part was that Andros was able to do all of this work for me. I didn't have to go find another contractor or spend countless hours on the web looking for things. Lenny was a wonderful contractor to deal with, his service was great...my favourite part was that everyday I came home he would clean up and mop the floors!!! I will take photos and post them on here later....thanks Andros, you are a gem!

    Bathroom renovation

I am a past customer of Andros Kitchen & Bath Designs. In 2001, my husband and I decided to renovate our kitchen. We chose Andros because they did everything from start to finish. We were very happy with our kitchen. Everything ran smoothly and efficiently. The designer was always helpful and the contractors were amazing. Last year we decided that we're going to renovate the bathroom. I have to say that I am very impressed with Andros. Again, they didn't let us down. We have a beautiful bathroom that is modern and beautiful. I would recommend this company to anyone for any project. We will be calling them again to do our built ins, in our family. Good job Andros!

    Kitchen Renovations

I recently went through a large renovation project with Andros Kitchen & Bath Designs. I was referred to Andros by my neighbour who also had done work with them in the past. I was nervous to renovate because I've heard many horror stories from other people. When I went to Andros and met with Sonya the designer, I was immediately impressed with her ideas and knowledge. The company has won many design awards and now after completing my kitchen I know why. She designed my kitchen with great accessiblity and we went through all of my cabinets in my new design to make sure all my items were placed in the proper location with ease of accessibility. Now I LOVE to cook in my kitchen. The renovation itself was nothing less then incredible. Frank, Lenny and Slav (and the rest of their crew) were on time, clean and professional. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for design and/or renovations combined.

    Kitchen Reno

Unpleasant experience. Lack of PM, faults in design and work, attempts to add extra charges (even to fix their errors). Few things had to be fixed on a fly... I guess once in a while it's a lemon and we got unlucky to get it. Overall, I am happy it's over. Hopefully, things will be learned and improved.

    Complete kitchen renovation

We selected Andros after seeing a few other kitchen design firms because we felt we had the best rapport with Anna Rentzos. Everyone has heard the horror stories about major renovations, so we proceeded cautiously. This project involved the almost total gutting of our existing kitchen. This was not a simple cabinet and countertop replacement. There was drywall work, electrical and plumbing involved. There was structural framing work involved in turning our pantry closet into an alcove to recess our new fridge, as well as widening the entry into the adjacent dining room, which required a new longer and deeper lintel beam. Given the amount of work involved, we needed to make sure that whoever we selected could handle project management for all the work - we wanted one-stop accountability to avoid the "not my problem - his problem" syndrome if things went wrong. We felt we found this with Andros. The design process took almost 2 months due to a combination of us changing our minds and Anna coming up with new ideas that we had to digest. This is where you have to put in the time - changes are much easier and less costly at this stage than if thing come up during construction that were not anticipated. Finally we signed off on the design and our project was scheduled to start in early November. True to their word, work began on November 5. Lenny (Anna's son) and Frank handled most of the demolition and construction work and there were no issues. Demo and new structural, drywall and electrical took about a month. Porcelain tile flooring came next. Flooring may be the only slightly weak point with this company – tile work was acceptable, but there were some areas where we felt that the tiles could have been raised to compensate for some un-level areas in the sub-floor – the installer just followed the sub-floor se we ended up with gaps along the bottom of baseboards in a couple of areas, and we have to install a quarter round, which we were hoping to avoid. They did do a good job with our travertine backsplash, however. The Canac cabinets were about a week late, through no fault of Andros. Finally the cabinets arrived (with pieces missing, including doors, hardware, etc) and Jerry did a fantastic job of installing them, including a lot of on-site custom work he had to do for fillers, crown mouldings, etc. We found that Jerry pays great attention to detail , which is very important at this stage. My advice about cabinets would be to ask the hard questions if you are planning on selecting from the Canac cabinet line (they do handle other lines) – we had some quality problems including missing pieces as mentioned above, as well as 6 doors that had to be replaced, which took over 2 months. The replacements are slightly darker than the originals and have to be replaced again. Canac did step up and replace them without complaining, including providing some dummy panels on our peninsula for free, so I have to give them credit for that, but this is a series of events we would have liked to avoid. Our kitchen was pretty much complete by just before Christmas, so all in all, just under 2 months of construction, which we think is quite good for the scope of the work. There are a few odds and ends of finishing work left to do, which does not prevent us from using the kitchen in any way, and these small items have proven to take a long time to get completed. But we really can’t complain since they have to schedule this small stuff in among other major projects. We are extremely happy with our kitchen and have received numerous compliments from those who have seen it. We have attached a few photos so you can judge for yourself. We would highly recommend Andros (in fact, we already have to family members). The only reason we gave them a 9 instead of a 10 is because of the tile flooring and the whole Canac problem, but really, nobody’s perfect, and we found any issues we had to deal with through the course of this project were handled professionally by Andros. We are planning a master bathroom renovation next year and will definitely return to Andros.

    Kitchen Renovation

When my husband and I decided to renovate our kitchen we decided to proceed with Andros Kitchen & Bath Designs because of one simple fact: They took care of the whole project! Our designer did an excellent job at designing our kitchen and organizing our renovations! We purchased our cabinets, appliances, flooring & backsplash tiles, sink, faucet and all accessories from Andros. If I ever had to do my kitchen again, I would go with a company that took care of everything. Andros' project management team coordinated my project at a timely fashion. There wasn't a day that passed that thier wasn't one of their workmen in our home.

    Kitchen Renovation

I am VERY unhappy with the end product and I am currently look at other options to redesign and finish this project. The counter top " Luxury for Less". After only 2 weeks of normal use in a home with only 2 people in the kitchen. We have found the counter top to be well below our expectations. In fact I have never seen a countertop that will mark as easily as this product. Andros kitchens was not helpful and told me the marks "could be buffed out" they will get back to me on what to use or I can pay someone to do the work. Let the buyer beware.......................... don't pay up front !
