    Old house partial renovation

We worked with Mark Ashton on a pretty intricate old house partial renovation where we finished our basement, replaced all plumbing right out to the street, rerouted and expanded HVAC, completely rebuilt an upstairs washroom and added another in the basement, and added an island and dishwasher on the main floor of our tiny kitchen. This project was complex with a lot of dependencies and we were living in the house throughout, so it presented a lot of challenges. Mark and his team & network did an amazing job of getting things exactly the way we wanted, and though the project took longer than expected due to some surprises discovered along the way, we knew that there was always a focus on quality work. When certain subcontractors messed up (it happens), the problem was always corrected to get it right, with no extra costs - they stand by their work which is important. Having their experience and suppliers to draw from was an asset, and led us to a better end result than we had initially imagined. We're happy with the result, and our house is much more liveable now, thanks Ashton Renovations!

    Kitchen renovation

We bought our home in the upper beaches area back in 2016. Ever since we moved in we knew we wanted to redo the kitchen, it was a mess, it just took so long to finally decide to do it as it is such a huge investment. For our dream kitchen to come to life, we needed a lot of renovations: - Structural changes to the wall in the dining room and the load bearing wall that ran through the kitchen. Mark and his team put in the extra work to ensure the structure and foundation was to code and safe. The beam that replaced the load bearing wall was supported on the main floor as well as in the basement with appropriately placed support posts. - Chris spent a lot of time ensuring that our warped floor was level before we even considered flooring and cabinets - something other contractors have overlooked in the past. - In addition to the structure changes, the Ashton team also tackled: flooring, plumbing, electrical, drywall, hvac, installation of a new oven hood (finally!), dishwasher, a brand new sink and most importantly - our new cabinets. The trim work was impeccable and the painting was performed with precision. - The cabinets are the staple piece of our new kitchen. They are made of plywood with high quality hardware. Not only are they robust, but also look very sleek. Most importantly, Mark, Chris and the rest of the Ashton team were an absolute pleasure to work with. Also to mention, our first baby was on the way so it was stressful having a house under construction. Mark is very trustworthy and gives you the sense that you are in good hands. He explains the process well, keeps you informed on progress and was always available when we needed him most! Chris is a fantastic general contractor - he does great work. He also makes you feel comfortable and that you are in good hands - this is especially important because kitchen renovations can be stressful. We would highly recommend Ashton Renovations to anyone that wants a fantastic kitchen with intelligent design and a great customer experience. Thank you Mark, Chris and team for everything you guys did for us!

    2 Bathrooms and a kitchen

We worked with Ashton Renovations to redo our kitchen and two bathrooms, along with other projects around the house that weren’t full rooms. Our house is over 100 years old and has no right angles anywhere. We’re very happy with the way things turned out, and would recommend working with Mark and team. Things we appreciated: • Mark is a trained designer and had a good feel for our style • He was able to make strong recommendations for products/finishes • All of the contractors and suppliers in his network were easy to work with and did quality work • We were well informed on the price of the original scope and the cost implications of decisions we made along the way • His level of service remained high right through the very end of the project • Everyone on his team is respectful and friendly, which seems to be a reflection of how this company operates • We love our house Things we learned: • The homeowner is the most motivated person to get the job completed. Therefore, they can be expected to push the hardest • Questions are important… if you have a concern, address it right away • Everyone can contribute to a creative solution to a unique problem

L and K Connell Complete Kitchen Reno

We are more than satisfied with our brand new kitchen- we are thrilled! The end result is far better than what we had imagined. The quality of the workmanship is stellar. Mark steered us to suppliers who gave us just what we wanted. Every single member of the crew was personable, capable and very respectful of our home and our dogs. Mark was able to accommodate our request to do the gutting of the kitchen while we were away which gave us the best possible start to our project. The whole process took longer than we would have liked (just over 4 months) but now that it is finished the wait was worth it. We spent more than we had planned but this was mainly due to our own choices Mark has a calm demeanour and put us at our ease from the initial visit. This was crucial for us since we had never hired a contractor before. We had always done our own teardown and hired family members for carpentry, etc. In fact, this was the biggest hurdle we had to get over in order to proceed. It was easily done. We have complete faith in Mark, his brother Chris and the entire crew and recommend them without reservation. Thanks guys!

    Kitchen Renovation

Ashton Renovations (Mark and Chris) did such a great job with our Kitchen and Dining room renovation. We have, and we will continue to, recommend Ashton Renovations to family and friends. We had a newborn and a 3 year old, and, for some reason, we thought it a good time to renovate! Mark and Chris took great care in making sure everything went smoothly and managed our demands to move quickly, where possible. Mark offered us great design advice along the way and took the time to carefully explain our budget and how each decision would affect our budget plan. Chris was always on hand to make sure the quality of work matched their high standards for safety and craftsmanship. On every job, there is always some unexpected turns (in our case, a decade old exterior wall leak), and while there were tense times, we always trusted their judgement and commitment to doing the job right, the first time. We plan to invite Ashton Renovations back for a quote on our garage/secondary suite design, if they are interested (and we get the permits ;))

    Answer from pro:

Thanks David When we returned to take some photos of your renovation, we were happy to see how nicely it turned out now that all the tools are gone and the construction work is done. Glad the ceiling…

Complete Kitchen, Bathroom renovation + whole house flooring, paint and exterior windows/doors

We recently completed a whole house renovation with Ashton Renovations. The core project took approximately 4 months and then a few months for final finishes after we moved back in. We completely gutted the kitchen, bathroom, all the wood floors are new, windows and exterior doors all new on the main, paint throughout, updated plumbing and electrical. The results are outstanding and the quality is excellent. After interviewing several contractors, we actually lost confidence that we could get this job done within the budget we wanted to spend (and the scope we wanted). Mark's relaxed but organized, flexible and consultative approach to renovation projects restored our confidence, and is what made this a success for us. We liked his approach to project management, and his process/steps right away and helped make it easier for us to understand what to do. I also appreciated having his guidance in materials selection sources that was within our style, quality needs and budget. The whole team is easy to work with, friendly and are passionate about what they do. Having never renovated before, it took a little longer than we anticipated with some delays (unavoidable) - make sure to assume more time than you think and expect some challenges. We are already planning our basement renovation with Mark and can't wait to get started!

    kitchen and 2 full bathrooms

Worked with Mark and his team over a year long process. Fully gut renovated a large condo kitchen and two bathrooms. During the process Mark was always realistic with budgets and expectations. He was very good at assisting and building on our ideas to make each room better and more functional. In the end the only items that went over budget were when we decided on more expensive material options. The Ashton team was exceptionally good dealing with our condo building staff and management. They were always aware of keeping the work area and building common areas clean.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Chad. Doing the project was a lot of fun, and it really does look beautiful. Mark Ashton

    Bathroom & Kitchen Reno

I hired Ashton Renovations last year to complete work left incomplete by a previous contractor, so when I needed a contractor again, I went back to Ashton Renovations. Recently I moved, and did renovations at the same time. Most times, not a good combination, but I had no choice. The team at Ashton was professional from beginning to end. Mark guided me through the start of the renos just after I’d moved — a very stressful time, for sure. Chris was equally supportive, and the quality of his work is outstanding. They both appreciate and understand client concerns, and do what it takes to address and resolve them. Working with Ashton is not like any of the stories you hear about contractors — they’re absolutely reliable and committed to providing a quality customer experience. I was relieved to be able to depend on both Mark and Chris.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for your feedback and kind comments. Both Chris and I hope you enjoy your new home for a long time. If there is anything you need please don't hesitate to call. Mark

    Unique condo bathroom

Five stars (more if I could give them) for Ashton Renovations. I adore my bathroom! I had a one-of-a-kind ceramic sink that I wanted to install, and their design was perfect. A tiny condo bathroom now has a luxe, individual look. Mark returns calls and emails promptly. Every person he sent (plumber, painter, electrician) was competent and friendly. The stone companies he works with, Charisma stone, had beautiful materials. When I had a last-minute change of mind on one of the choices, Mark rolled with it. Kind, mellow and competent. What more can you ask of renovators coming into your small condo space? If you want a cookie-cutter fast job, this isn’t for you. But if you want something individual, that will take time but please your whole soul, Ashton Renovations is the best.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for your kind comments Molly. Your bathroom was fun to do. I especially like the personal touch of the sink. Mark

Main Bathroom and Master Bathroom Renovation

We had a positive experience with our powder room renovation in 2017 and chose Ashton Renovations a second time to demolish and fully renovate our two upstairs full bathrooms. We had the confidence that the workmanship and quality of building materials would meet our needs. We appreciate Mark's knowledge, experience, assertiveness and his assistance in choosing products (e.g., tiles, cabinets, plumbing fixtures). We are very pleased with our two fully renovated bathrooms. Mark and his team are very polite, personable, efficient yet respectful of our home, and effectively communicated and managed expectations with regards to their daily schedules and tasks.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for your kind comments Margaret. We are happy that you are pleased with your new bathrooms and hope you enjoy them for many years.
