    Fall Furnace tune up

The technician, Eric, was very professional. He came to my house to do the annual furnace tuneup. He explained a problem that the furnace had with the exhaust. He identified the problem and fixed it without any additional cost.

    Reconnecting ductwork

We called to have some ductwork reconnected to our furnace from our nursery that was missing. Gus arrived and took a look. Said it was fine but was looking at the ductwork from the kitchen. When my husband said that was from the kitchen he basically said it was Fine and to put a space heater in the nursery. This is for a newborn baby. A space heater is not a solution. When we showed him that air wasn't even coming out of the vent Gus told my husband it was because it had so many turns it wasn't blowing the air as strong as it should be. When we showed him a bag over the vent wasn't even moving he basically said the job was too small for him. Atlas should not send someone out if they aren't willing to do the work. That is terrible customer service. If someone shows up then the job should be done big or small. You would think getting heat to a newborn baby's room would be important enough. Guess not. . We had to hire another company that actually looked and replaced the ductwork that was missing entirely! I would never recommend or use this company ever. OCTOBER 2, 2013 Phil thank you for your call today. As I mentioned on the phone I was not expecting such a proactive response. I really appreciate the time you took to speak with me about my experience and how your organization could make it better. I think this is exceptional customers service and I was surprised and happy to receive your call and your offer to do some service work to show me how effective your company truly is. Thank you again.

    install

I was happy with the service. They took time to answer all my questions and concerns and gave a written estimate and guarantee. I was reluctant to deal with others as they seemed shaddy but these guys did a very professional service.

    Atlas Care winter ready

The gentleman, whose name is Chris Wilson, came on Thursday September 26th, 2013. He was very nice and professional. He did an excellent job explaining the what and why of all he was doing and made sure we were in tip top shape when he left.

    water heater anode

My uncle had trouble with his water heater and told me that to avoid issues, I should have my anode replaced. Both he and I had never heard of this, so I did some research online and found it is a common part that helps to minimize rust in the tank, and it should be replaced regularly. There are lots of videos and links online about how to replace them, but I thought I’d let the experts do it. When I asked AtlasCare about it, they said (via email), and I quote “by the time you need to replace the anode that it is also time to think about replacing the tank itself... we would have to come out and inspect the unit and contact the manufacture to see if we can get this part, so we would set it up as a diagnostic the cost for this would be $129+HST." Holy Moly! They tell me I should probably replace my tank but are willing to first charge $145 for a diagnostic? I don't think they know what an anode is, either! I'm going elsewhere.

    Furnace clean, inspection, maintenance

Technician arrived on time. , used covers for his shoes , was polite. , and helpful. Was very thorough and did a good job. Took photos of problem areas and suggested duct cleaning which had never been done , nor furnace clean . I am new owner. Tested gas insert fireplace and cleaned and restored . Very pleased with service . Parents have used Atlas since 1983 for both gas furnace and air . I will continue to do the same.

    Replaced Air Conditioner

Wouldn't you know it but on the hottest week of the year my 45 year old AC unit decided to die. And with a 21month old baby in the house it got even more heated in here. Daniel was excellent in explaining how things worked gave me several good recommendations for a new system. Its not that I got a very good AC system now but I was very impressed with the technicians that did the work. They laid red carpet everywhere and covered everything in my furnace room that could get dirty. They did a great job and handled my house as if it was their own. When they left they left the house in just as good a condition as before they arrived. I would definitely recommend Atlas.

    Air Conditioner Service

Late in August, during one of the the few heat waves of the summer, I came back from the cottage to discover that my air conditioner was not working. I called AtlasCare but unfortunately it was going to be a few days before a technician could show up. So after checking on Homestars, I called another service company with somewhat reasonable ratings and they showed up the same day. That tech diagnosed the problem as a saturated moisture sensor which he left to dry out. He returned the next day and said that the sensor still hadn't dried out but he managed to bypass the sensor and continue his diagnosis. He told me that the 14 year old system needed to be replaced as it was leaking refrigerant. He said I could do a leakdown test to identify the source of the problem but it would be throwing good money after bad. He also indicated that the rough replacement cost would be in the range of $5300. I thanked him for his efforts and requested a detailed quote - which I have never received by the way. I then called AtlasCare again to get a second opinion. It took a few more days but for the tech to arrive because of workload. The tech who showed up was named Kyle. He confirmed that the initial problem was triggered by the moisture sensor but his diagnosis showed that there in fact was no leak and the system did not require replacement. Apparently only a slight amount of water could trigger the sensor but there was no major problem. The system was operational when he left. It continued to work well until cold weather prevailed and we shut it down. The initial service tech had indicated that it wouldn't run for longer that 10 or 20 min before the problem would disappear. Wrong again. In summary, I am very pleased with AtalsCare service. I have used them in the past and have always been satisfied. The other folks I called were cheaper and showed up quickly perhaps, but they gave me the wrong advice. I guess you get what you pay for.

    Air Conditioning Installation

We had a challenging situation because our old home was fully renovated before we purchased it and the ducts off the furnace were shrunk to create more headroom. It was a bad decision made by the previous owners because it created less airflow and less return air. We had one very experienced company refuse to install an AC because the owner was sure the coil would freeze due to reduced air flow. Fraser from Atlascare had a solution, by creating a couple more small ducts running off the plenum (forgive my lack of technical knowledge). He was realistic but optimistic about what could be done. It wouldn't be perfect on the second floor but it would be much better. And he was confident the coil wouldn't freeze. Dave and Grant did the installation. They were professional, courteous, quick, and very respectful of our home. This was done back in July and so far we've been very satisfied with the results. We certainly paid more for Atlascare but in our challenging situation it was absolutely worth it. Highly recommended.
