    Furnace repair - Enercare

Called Enercare as my furnace stopped working. Called Enercare from the people answering the phone to the technician who came out to fix the problem we are really grateful. Mike Amirrapab the Enercare technician went above and beyond to fix our furnace in a timely way. He assessed the problem, found out the part might take a day or two to arrive and searched to see if the Enercare supply at their offices in March Markham may have it. They did. He left and returned to fix a problems that might have taken more than a day if we had to wait for the part to arrive by courier. Mike was truly outstanding and very helpful to me and my family. Thank you!!!

    Fireplace annual service

The technician from Enercare was Ralph. He phoned ahead and arrived about ten minutes later. He was friendly and provided thorough service and gave me useful information about how spiders can be a nuisance with gas fireplaces. I was relieved to know that there was little evidence of these critters in my fireplace. Ralph dusted and vacuumed the unit and it looked very clean and passed the CO2 test at the end of the service call. Thanks Ralph

    Furnace and Ac UNit

Would just like to say that I had amazing service from you company. Right from the start of the initial visit to completion. I have my inspection on a Monday and my furnace and AC were installed by the Wednesday of the following week. Kevin Crowe and Kurtis Roy did an amazing job with the installation and took through step by step how my new services work. They also created so much more space in my furnace room for me using their experience. I totally recommend this company.

    Furnace repair

Enercare got my furnace working quickly. From the initial call to the arrival of the technician and the subsequent repair it was a great experience, as usual. They are professional in all they do, respectful of me as their customer in terms of time, convenience and my home. I have been with them for many years (service plans and products) and will stay with Enercare because they are top notch in all respects. I have faith in the organization and its people.

Avoid Enercare and its Quasi-Criminal Business Model

We purchased a new home in Toronto. On the Agreement of Purchase and Sale was a clause that the hot water tank and boiler were rented. We assumed the monthly charges would amount to $25-$50. When we received our first bill from Enercare in the amount of $202 we were floored; $2,400 per year to rent a device that stores and heats water sounded ridiculously steep, much more, in fact, than the monthly cost of the natural gas itself that heats up the water. We called Enercare to assess our options. We were told that we could continue to pay the rental fee indefinitely, which amounted to $60,000 over the life of the equipment (or the cost of a luxury car) or we could purchase the equipment and forego the associated servicing. We were floored again when Enercare produced a bill for $14,400 (the cost of a compact car). This is what they thought was a reasonable sum for a water tank and a boiler. Because the contractual relationship was attached to the house that we bought there was no third option. We could either pay Enercare $14k in the short run or $60k in the long run. We assessed our legal options but figured that, given Enercare's business model (which is built on the back of fleecing the public), they would have a full legal department. Don Corleone could never have dreamed of a business like this. We swallowed our pride and cut Enercare a cheque in July 2018. In October of 2018 we turned on our heat and discovered that two of the rads do not work. After bleeding each rad three times for a total of three hours we concluded that the radiator really does not work. So we paid a King's ransom for dysfunctional equipment (yay Enercare!). I didn't have high hopes, but I called Enercare to see if they would honour the dysfunctional equipment that they charged a fortune for. And of course they did not. They did, however, offer to send a technician to our house to assess the equipment for the low cost of $129 and afterwards would produce an estimate for the cost of the parts and labour needed to fix their sub-standard equipment (which is less than two years old). Stay away from this company. It is legalized fraud blended with incompetence. There are details that I am omitting, namely the dozen or so phone calls and hours involved to process the buyout, but that pales in comparison with the extent of the criminality on display.
