    Furnace maintenance plan

Reasonable price for the peace of mind. Always very prompt when I call for an appointment. Monthly fee includes a free annual furnace cleaning/maintenance which would cost me about $75/year anyway.

    Furnace Maintenance renewal

Called for yearly renewal and I had to challenge the price as there was a better offer for new customer that came in through mailing. Renewal customer should always be offered the best price available

    The creation of a problem

My house had an old water heater (10+ years) rented through Enercare. The day that it failed, I asked Enercare to come over and help me getting it up and going. First I had some back and forth with Enercare's dispatch to get a tech to come to my house in under 3 days but finally I got someone over. Once the tech got into my home though, he refused to service the water heater and tagged me asking me to remove some 20 year old drywall renovations one of the previous owners had done to be able to fix the old water heater. (please note that the water heater was 10+ years old and was placed were it was probably by Enercare) Needless to say I cancelled my service with Enercare and got a brand new water heater installed. When arranging the pickup of the old water heater I was told it would be free of charge. This was later reversed and I also had to pay them to pick-up the old water heater that had been removed previously, I have to say though that the people picking up the old water heater were polite and well mannered.

Hi there - Similar to any contract, there are buyout fees associated with opting out of your plan early. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of your contract for more information.

    Furnace and gas fireplace maintenance

I have never been more impressed with service received from any tradesperson ever than I was with Tim, the gentleman who came out to do a maintenance call for our fireplace and furnace. (And having had a number of tradespeople through the house recently, I speak from a wealth of experience.) Tim was polite, professional, helpful and he (in my opinion) went out of his way to ensure he did a thorough job. He identified a problem with our furnace. One that has been longstanding but had never been addressed by prior maintenance/service personnel. Our furnace sounds the best it has in a long time. We now do not have to turn up the television when the blower on the furnace kicks in. I have and will continue to tell the story about the fireplace maintenance for a very long time. The fireplace glass was black. We had had it maintained previously through our maintenance contract with enercare. Tim said it was quite bad but that he would clean it up and we'd take things from there. He called me downstairs several times (always politely calling me Ma'am) to explain what he had found, or what he was doing, or what a potential problem might be. To make what could be a very very long story short, what he found essentially was that the components were not put together properly. As a result, the pilot light had been largely obscured and the burner was likely partially obscured as well. I asked him what the result of that would be and he said that it would cause it to burn dirty - thus causing the massive amounts of soot on the glass and box. Our gas fireplace looks and is performing the best it has in years. Tim went out of his way to not only to maintain the fireplace and furnace, he went out of his way to ensure they were working properly. He identified items that were missed by the personnel who maintained them previously. I would not hesitate to recommend enercare and Tim specifically. I can only hope when we have our maintenance done next year that he will be available. Please extend our thanks to him.

    Heating Protection Plan

Every year I get notice that my plan is up for renewal. I then call and arrange for the best rate. Originally my anniversary was in March every year, but it has changed to September, not sure how. The only notice that I got was to have my furnace inspected, which I followed through with. The inspector advised that I should get a new furnace as mine was 21 years old and not efficient. So I did so. When I called to cancel the Heating Protection Plan as my new furnace comes with a warrenty, I was informed that I would still have to pay the the plan for the next year...$300. I have tried to talk to them but there is no budging on their part. I even suggested at least transferring it to a cooling plan, but no deal. When I pointed out that I never agreed to the new plan, they say that they aren't under any obligation to tell me when it is up for renewal, even though they increased the amount of my charge. I am not aware of any other company that operates like this. As a matter of fact, I thought it was against the law. No company should be able to automatically renew a service, increasing the charge, without notifying the customer and getting their agreement. Stay away from this company.

    Hot Water Tank Heater

If you want to return your water heater - it was a very difficult task and with poor call centre setup. I must have been passed around 3 times and had to ask for a supervisor who couldn't even help me. I work in building industry designing custom homes and I do not recommend working with them again.
