Totally horrified at the horrible service and serious errors made by this company in getting my 77 year old parent's furnace working again when temps are dropping below 0 at night!
In a nutshell, 6 days...yes 6 days to get their furnace working again, under warranty, after Enercare (yeah, they sure do "care") screwed up ordering a new motor. AND....not sure if its in the fine print of their "maintenance and protection plans", but PARTS ARE NOT DELIVERED ON WEEKENDS!!! So all you protection plan subscribers, make sure your HVAC unit breaks down early in the week (read: sarcasm) if a part needs to be ordered!! Thank God they had have a fireplace and that the daytime temps were still warm enough to keep the house at a liveable temperature (around 66 degrees C). If this was middle of winter, they likely would have had to abandon the house and try to keep enuf heat just to keep pipes from freezing.
My parents have been paying the monthly fee for Enercare's heating maintenance and protection plan for many years. They realized on a Friday morning that furnace was not working, called and technicians arrived within 4 hours same day. They pull furnace apart and find motor is dead. Supposedly order is placed for new motor. Parents hear nothing Friday. Starting Saturday, they call 4-5 times a day to get nowhere. They are told parts are not delivered on weekends. WOW thanks God this was not middle of winter!!!. Finally, Monday, get a rep that admits an error and that part was not ordered. Said part should arrive Monday or Tuesday morning latest. Nothing Monday. Tuesday morning, nothing. Call back and say it will arrive 3 pm Wed. Unfreggin' believable. So we wait now for the part to arrive. Hopefully techs will come right away so they have heat Wed night!!
Absolutely pathetic. What makes this even more of an issue is that my parents are getting up there in age so something like this, including the stress of dealing with useless customer service reps and getting no where, has much more impact on them. I am not sure what a young family with babies would do in such a situation...go to family, friends or hotel?? Seeing my parents deal with this is upsetting to say the least.
Needless to say, they will be cancelling their plan. Frankly, the money they have spend in protection plan over so many years, they could have paid for a new motor three times over.
If I could give a negative rating, I would.
