    move Toronto to Vancouver

So glad we chose Great Canadian Van Lines for our second cross-Canada move in five years. Yet again our move went off without a hitch! Our final total came in under estimate, within the time frame provided and with no damage to any goods or homes. In fact the only breakage came from me during unpacking! Every aspect of the move was efficient, organized and hassle-free, with quick email estimates, confirmations and answers provided by Kathy. Amar and his crew were amazingly efficient, professional, organized and helpful during the Toronto pickup in 34 degrees dealing with 3 flights of stairs in our Victorian semi, and also at the destination in Vancouver, where they negotiated our spiral staircase with ease (not to mention dealing with parking after Vancouver’s parking permit office left us high and dry!). Please pass on another big thank you to them! Your professional service made our move as smooth as it could possibly be. If we decide to move again, you will be hearing from us!

Take the Money & RUN - Long Distance Move - damaged goods - poorly managed company -

Company does not communicate TAKES THE MONEY & RUNS- MOST Important as we are unpacking we are finding DAMAGED GOODS, Drivers rush you when they unpack so it takes time to see the problems - called Management "RICK" - not once not twice but 3 times & would not return my calls , they will probably respond to this review with some excuses - DON'T BUY IT - STAY CLEAR - I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Pine bedroom set is all damaged as well as Fabric Chair - straps were placed so tight, imprints into furniture - NICE JOB FELLOWS!!!

Hello Spence, Sorry I'm not sure who you are as you not indicated that. I have been away for the last 10 days so if you did try to connect with me , please give me a call and I will look into it. apparently the driver tried to make a delivery on the long weekend, you needed at shuttle on delivery and being the long weekend, no trucks were available. Your Shipment was brought to Vancouver and then transported back up to you within the transit guidelines.

    Cross-country move

I hired Great Canadian Van Lines to move from Calgary to Toronto. After looking into a UHaul, this company was actually cheaper when I took into account the price of gas refills, hotels, and food along the journey. The men who helped pack up my place and move my belongings from the Calgary location were great! My landlords were so impressed with their care and curtesy (they made sure to let apartment tenants go ahead of them in the entrance areas, and took extra care not to ding up the elevators or glass entrance doors), that they asked for business cards to provide to any tenants in our building looking for a moving company. And my landlords are picky people! My furniture was delivered on time, and the guys who delivered it did a super quick and efficient job of getting it in our new place, as my husband had to catch a flight out of town, and we were under a time constraint.

    Move from BC to ON

Great Canadian Van Lines rescued our move after previously contracted movers walked off the job. Within less than 15 minutes GCVL located a driver and packing team. Shawn told us he would look after us - and he did. Our move was only 2 days behind schedule and everything arrived on time and intact. This is what customer service is about - going beyond expectations.

Thank you for your review and we're glad we were able to help you out with your relocation. We hope you are enjoying your new residence and can be of service to you in the future. Best Regards, GCVL Staff and Management

    Move across Canada

We recently moved from Ontario to a small island in British Columbia with Great Canadian Van Lines. This was a tricky move as it involved ferries and shuttles. We interviewed 10 moving companies but GCVL were the ONLY company that would give us FIRM details, numbers and a timeline. Now that the move is completed we are thrilled that everything went exactly as promised. No surprises. The crews at both ends of our move arrived on time on the dates we had been scheduled. The movers were fantastic. They were courteous, kind, friendly and fast. Absolutely all of our belongings arrived quickly and nothing was scratched or damaged, except for 2 cereal bowls which I had not packed properly. That's pretty amazing considering this stuff went right across Canada! If you are considering a move, you will be so pleased if you use this company. It makes what could be a stressful situation absolutely EASY!

    Moving from Calgary to Ottawa.

My daughter needed to move from Calgary back to Ottawa a.s.a.p. Great Canadian Van Lines was the first company to respond to our request. They were very quick with an estimate and the service was super. The driver communicated with us all the way on his trip to Ottawa. The delivery was when he said it would be. The staff were extremely helpful and careful. I would use their services again.

    Move from Ontario to Alberta

We had researched many moving companies as this was a really big move for us which included vehicles as well. We really appreciated the service we received from Rick as he was really fast at setting the move up and professional. We asked him several questions and he provided thorough and honest answers. He was always available when we needed to speak to him as well. The price was exactly around the total we expected. I know we would use them again for sure.

Thank you for your business Shaz. Rick

    Move from BC to Alberta

We had a great experience moving with Great Canadian Van lines from BC to Alberta from the estimate up until the point of delivery of our stuff. Employees from the company especially Shawn who came to do the estimate for us and arranged for the whole move and Jai the driver were very friendly, cooperative, and good at their work. We got our stuff on time as promised. We had no issues regarding any of our stuff. Jai did the packing and unpacking for all our stuff with great care and suggested us few things which worked well for us. We thank Great Canadian Van lines for making our move so much easier.

    Long distance move

Untrustworthy... I recently booked a move from Mississauga, Ontario to Winnipeg, Manitoba. After some online research I decided to go with Great Canadian. They were helpful at the beginning, answering all my questions and giving decent estimates, all thru one of their agents called Rick. On the day of my move I had a truck show up on time to load my stuff. The truck however was not a Great Canadian truck, it was under another company, Victoria moving company if I recall. I didn't mind that they were operating thru subcontractors as long as they were doing what was promised. My stuff arrived in Winnipeg on time, and as per my request went into storage for a few days (this time under a different company, Riverbend movers). So far so good, until i call to arrange a drop off then the storage company tells me that i should come asap because some of my stuff has been damaged due to a water pipe break. I drive down there on the same day to find 2 mattresses, a sofa set and two boxes soaked. After a short unsympathetic talk with the people there they tell me to contact Great Canadian and ask what their insurance covers, after two days of unanswered calls and a complete change in attitude, I finally get a reply that they were not responsible for the damage that had occurred, and that I should follow up with Riverbend and see what they have to offer in compensation. Needless to say after 8 weeks and more than $5,000 in damage, I have yet to receive a reply from either companies, I keep emailing and get nothing back..

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for advising us of your concerns. With moves of this nature there are two types of insurance involved Cargo and Warehouse. The water damage to your goods occurred due to a pipe bursting at the warehouse and so your claim will fall under Warehouse insurance coverage; which Wayne from Riverbend Movers has identified in his email to you. He will provide all the contact information for the representative from the insurance company so you can deal directly with them. Unfortunately Great Canadian cannot get involved with another companies warehouse insurance claim and their insurance company. Thank you
