Moving House from Toronto to Victoria

Bill (a subcontractor) and his crew in Toronto took extreme care in wrapping all of our furniture and took the same care in moving our boxes (which I had packed) onto the truck. They were friendly and helpful. Everything was treated with respect. Our goods arrived in Victoria in a very timely manner and it was the same at this end - the two men unloading and unwrapping treated our belongings like they were their own. I think it depends on the driver/owner of the truck but we certainly were impressed with Bill and both of his crews. Thank you!!

    Moving

We moved with Great Canadian Van Lines this summer and the move was amazing! I'm not one to go on these type of sites to write a review (it usually is the people who complain) but with the exceptional service we received we had to thank Great Canadian. Thank you to everyone involved in our move from our driver Bill to the office staff at Great Canadian that kept us informed. We will recommend Great Canadian Van Lines to all our friends and family. Thanks again!

    Move from Ontario to B.C

We had household goods moved by GCVL from a storage locker in Waterloo Ontario to a storage locker in Vernon B.C. We were highly satisfied with the service from start to finish. GCVL staff person, Rick was always prompt and professional in his communications with me. He worked diligently to get us a date for moving our goods as August was peak period. Actual cost of moving was even lower than the estimate. Very reasonable, did not break the budget. Easy to understand quote and pricing, straightforward. Our driver, Amar was excellent. Very competent guy who inspired a sense of confidence and trust that he would get the job done right. We were fortunate that he picked up our goods in Ontario and off loaded them in B.C. too. He kept in contact so we knew when he was scheduled to arrive and gave us weight and cost of shipping within hours of loading. Amar managed to make it all work in the end from not initially being able to get in touch with us when we were out of cell range to getting the truck into a tight storage driveway and getting the goods into the storage unit. We would highly recommend GCVL and would use them again in future.

Toronto storage and Richmond possessions moved to Kamloops

After storing my household possessions for almost 6 years I decided it was time to get everything into my new place. That meant moving boxes of personal belongings from Richmond to Kamloops and stored items from a warehouse in Toronto to Kamloops. It is a big job and it went smoothly with no damage or mess. What I really valued was I knew when things were arriving and was able to prepare to receive them. Movers were friendly, courteous, fast and efficient. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

    Moving company

We have used Great Canadian Van Lines twice for our moves. Everyone involved in our moves have been professional and courteous. The drivers and their movers always made sure everything was covered with blankets and rolled our carpets on our stairs and wood floors. I would not hesitate to recommend GCVL to anyone wanting a fantastic moving company!

    Move from ontario to bc

Booked our move with this company as a returning happy customer. Was told by Rick that our stuff would arrive around the 25th of the month, requestioned him about the dates after receiving the quote, was reassured of the dates, after our stuff left we were told it would not arrive until the end of the month. Rick denied having any of these conversations with me, and have yet to resolve the matter.

    Answer from pro:

I have attached all email correspondence with Chris. The original date of the 25th , with an arrival date of the 9th of May was originally discussed, this date was changed to the 18th as Chris wanted out before the Long weekend. The 18th was booked and a new schedule was confirmed for this truck loading until the 21st 22nd then departing schedule, which would get him into Vancouver right around Month end ( which he did arrive last night in our yard April 29th ) This corresponds with times give. I have full email thread of our Correspondence. The Trucks take a minimum 7days to cross Canada with out stops. My original schedule for him on the 25th April (as the t truck was loading for a few more days and departing at Month end , is the same time line as the one loading on th 18th and leaving 22nd...it would have been impossible for the truck to make it here by the 25th . Chris , your response to me was, why would I load early if the truck is not leaving yet? My response was because ti take serveral days to load the truck , the 18th and 25th were days you requested and days were able to load.and you were given departure and arrival dates..I had no reason to tell you anything different. That was our schedule and we have made those dates. see email.<rick@greatcanadianvanlines.com> Apr 22 (7 days ago) to Chris Hello Chris. Sorry I was away on the weekend. based on the the two options we had was loading the 25th, the truck would depart at month end , that truck would not have got into Vancouver until about the 7-8th then over to the Island 9th ish. The earlier truck that you wanted on was still going to be loading over the long weekend and departing around the 21st 22nd which he did, so pretty impossible to get to Vancouver as early as the 25th ...he should arrive right around the month end and thats the one i told you he should get over to the Island around the 1st....see email Hello Chris, I can change your move to the 18th , let me know ASAP so I don't loose that spot... Chris Moynan <ckmoynan@rogers.com> Apr 9 to me what would the delivery date be then? I just have to run out to do a quick errand Rick Valiant <rick@greatcanadianvanlines.com> Apr 9 to Chris it would get in before month end or the 1st if that is when you get possession I could hold it until then Chris Moynan <ckmoynan@rogers.com> Apr 11 to me Hey Rick, will they bag the mattresses and if so how much for the king queen and twin CSM

Move from Mississauga, Ontario to Calgary, Alberta

It’s been two months since my move from Mississauga to Calgary and Great Canadian Van Lines made it worry and stress-free. From my first contact with Veronica and Chris at Bronte Movers in Oakville (brokers for Great Cdn Van Lines) to Rod and Lana at the Vancouver dispatch, to the driver Dan and his helper Craig, the customer service was top notch. The team that picked up at my place in Mississauga did an amazing job. I was so impressed with how well everything was blanket wrapped, taped up and secure. Even my bicycle was wrapped. On the Calgary end the driver Dan was terrific. He called ahead and kept me up-to-date. On delivery, Dan and Craig were very courteous, friendly and professional. They worked hard and unbelievably got my piano up the flight of stairs! Thank you so much for making my move a smooth one! I highly recommend Great Cdn Van Lines for your move.

move from Alliston, ON to Baddeck NS

In November, 2013 I moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia. Earlier, I obtained a quote for my move of $6000. The actual cost was $18000, 3 times the quote. Great Canadian Van LInes comment was "it was just an estimate". The crew did not use runners and tracked mud all over the carpets I had installed 6 months earlier. The truck was not big enough, so an number of items, including my son's bed, did not come until nearly 2 months later. I had a plastic container with my late husband's original water colour paintings. They dumped them in a cardboard box, put a laundry basket on top of them, charged me for the box and left the plastic box behind. Many of them were damaged and are not replaceable. They did arrive on time, but other than that, everything was a disaster. I put in a complaint to Better Business Bureau but their only comment was that the man who did the estimate was not their employee.

Move from Ottawa to Victoria, BC

We were very pleased with our move from Ottawa to Victoria. The Great Canadian Van Lines driver, Wade had excellent crews at both locations. Everything was well covered in moving pads and the furniture arrived with no damage. We just finished unpacking all of our boxes and nothing was broken. Thank Wade and his crews for providing excellent on-time service.
