I called Milani to service our 3 year old Carrier Heat Pump that suddenly quit during this past summer's heat wave because of their high profile and visibility in our neighbourhood. The technician took a long look at the pump, and studied the pump, and called someone on the phone and then proceeded to say he was not familiar with the Carrier brand and had never seen one set up the way ours was. My husband provided him with our homeowner's manual to study. After 5 hours, he still had not fixed it and said he would return the next day to finish the job. Return he did, and after a further 4 hours of talking about how he had had his own business and then been called out of retirement to work on heat pumps and furnaces, he managed to replace a relay switch. He continued for another hour or so, still pondering over the puzzle of our Carrier heat pump, still saying he really didn't know what could be wrong. The $80 relay switch fixed the problem and we had air conditioning again. He left saying he would return yet again the following day to make sure it was working. When he called, my husband told him it wasn't necessary for him to return as the pump was working just fine. The technician then called back an hour later to request payment of his $875 invoice via credit card over the phone. He took over 8 hours over 2 days to do a job that should have taken no more than 1.5 hours at the most ... and had the audacity to charge us for it! Other than on our credit card statement, we have not ever received a copy of the invoice. We are extremely disappointed with Milani as they should have told us from the outset they did not have properly trained personnel to work on our system. The technician they sent out to us very poorly represented their company and we will never use them again for anything plumbing or heating related. We will recommend to all whom we know (and don't know, via Homestars) that Milani cannot be trusted to send out trained, experienced technicians who know what they are doing, and recognize what they cannot do. There are many other good companies out there. Avoid this bad one.

They do great jobs. I would introduce their services to my friends, relatives and any one who is looking for the services. I live in Richmond. Hope they have better business later on.

Previous owners of this house were smokers and ducts seemed quite dirty so we arranged to have them cleaned out. Technician said the vacuum couldn't be hooked to the furnace because there wasn't space so would do it a slightly different way with the same result. I assumed he knew what he was doing. He then proceeded to blow all the contents of the ducts through my home. My house now smells like smoke and the air is so bad anyone with asthma can't come into my house. I had to buy a 140 dollar air purifier and am trying to frantically clean the house of the smell and dust. This job was not done properly and the ducts still seem dirty. I would like a refund and will be pursuing this matter further. My family has used Milani's for years and I called them because of their great reputation. Never again!

The contractors were very disorganized and slow. They charged six and a half hours of labour to re-install a gas stove and sink. I would expect much better from a well rated contractor. I would not use them again.

A less than 10' of piping was required to run a gas stove. The day before, I had talked to their supervisor and he told me that "the job is a time and material work and no quotes will be provided", also "Our guys will round up the time to next 15 minutes" and confirmed "there would not be any surprises!" Well, there were!! He arrived a bit earlier and after assessment started the work. In the first half an hour he drilled a wrong hole in the kitchen wall, and no single word of apologies! Then, he figured where to drill, so went into right direction but he was not well equipped. His drill bit was missing a screw and it took 3 times more time and effort to finally open the way. Keep in mind, they are charging by hours, $98/hr. Now he found that he does not have all the materials needed, even not long enough hose! I was wondering what they carry in their big truck?! Took a list and left for over half an hour ($98/hr). Eventually job was done. He charged me for the time he was writing the receipt (10-15 minutes) and left me with a hole in the wall. All he worked (with all inefficiencies and even including his trip to get the parts) was 5:50 hours and he charged me 6:30. Considering that they are the highest price amongst others, I expected way more professional service.

Punctual, efficient, honest. What more can you ask from a tradesman. The technician arrived early, was prepared and hooked up plumbing to my new water cooler. He even took care to clean up after himself before he left. Would recommend this company based on my first experience with them.

This company came promptly to help clean our clogged sewer. They did a good job, we were satisfied with their work. They were friendly and did not make a mess. They were very personable

Milani recommended that we go with the IBC boiler which was 3 times as expensive as our previous system but at the time was told that it would be much more energy efficient than the boiler we had previous. After a 1 1/2 years of use we are still consuming the same amount (if not more) of kWh with the same usage pattern. Also before the work started we were told by the foreman that the installer would do a complete finish of the area. At the end of job several holes were left in the wall due to the re-routing of the pipes and told that existing pipes would not be covered in the finish. We ended up paying for some else to finish the patch work and re-insulation of the walls.

Toilet was old and running a bit. Called Milani. They took toilet off and told us the plywood floor needed to be cut out because of rot. Instead of putting in a small piece of plywood, they called in another contractor to estimate the job. We ended up pulling out the lino and molding for them They returned a few days later to put in one small piece of plywood, lino, and molding. A lot of work to change a toilet.....

I will probably not recommend it to friends. The company was slow in response and the worker appeared to be sloppy. Work quality is not that great. Also the cost is a bit expensive.
