We undertook a major and complicated reno of our house in 2007 (we moved out, it took 1 year to complete). From our first dealings with Graeme Sperber and Somerset we were really impressed, and the whole job went very smoothly. First of all, they inspired confidence - they were much more organized and thorough than other builders who were asked to bid on the job. They got to work right away and respected our timelines. They immediately responded to queries and requests, and worked very cooperatively with our architect. We had a site supervisor who was dedicated to ensuring everything was done properly and on time. We were also very impressed with Somerset's choice of trades - plumbers, painters, carpenters, etc were all great. Somerset has also been very attentive to correcting/completing items post-construction as well. We would definitely choose Somerset again and we highly recommend them!

The renovation came with the usual stress but in the end was very pleased with the outcome and the quality of work. I found everyone I dealt with professional and hard working. I never felt I was being taken advantage of and had complete trust in the people doing work espcially Graham was always available on his cell phone when needed. Day to day responsibility fell to Jesus who was great and dedicated. The best complement I could give Somerset was that I used them 6 months later for an office renovation and would use them again.

6 years ago we did a complete top to bottom reno & addition using Somerset, and we had so much fun we decided to do it again when we found another property a mile away that suited us better. Building a home and working with a builder is a very intense experience, over a period of close to a year, and because we had such a positive experience the first time, we chose to go with Somerset again. On both occasions we found them to be honest, straight-forward, communicative, helpful and supportive. Overall, their trades are reliable, skillful, competent and easy to work with. This was a very hands-on project for us, we were onsite every day. There was never a question or an issue that was ignored or not dealt with quickly. Any problems we have encountered "post-construction" have been dealt with quickly, completely and without question. That's one of the reasons we came back the second time around. We are relieved to have come out of the building experience sane (twice) and still have a great relationship with Ernie and Graeme.

Somerset did an excellent job on our renovation at a very competitive price. Our foreman was exceptional as he treated our addition as if it was his own house. He paid attention to all details. I was also very impressed with the suggestions that Somerset made to improve the architectural drawings. Somerset employs high quality trades. The president met with me on a regular basis to review completed work and discuss next steps. Overall, I highly recommend Somerset.

We retained Somerset Construction based on the many positive comments from other people who had previously hired them. Somerset met and exceeded our every expectation. Essentially we gutted our existing 1950s era house and added a two story addition that doubled the size of our house from 1500 to 3000 sq. ft. New kitchen, new family room, 4 new bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, master with coffered ceiling and walk in closest, new hardwood throughout, granite countertops and slate flooring,new bay window, 9ft ceilings, the list goes on and on. Throughout the entire process, from design to post closing clean up, Somerset delivered top quality work, on time and on budget. We are thrilled with our renovation/addition and everyone who comes to see the final product can't believe how amazing Somerset did. Attention to detail, responsive to our concerns as the project developed, and perhaps most important to us, was the honesty and integrity which Somerset displayed throughout the entire process. We truly feel lucky to have retained Somerset. The best recommendation we can give is simply that if we build a new house, buy another house and renovate or simply do further additions or renovations to our existing house, we will retain Somerset with 100% certainty.

We had a great experience with Somerset. The type of addition made it possible for us to live in the existing structure and our site supervisor kept the site clean and secure through out construction. From day one the experience was positive and professionally handled. We added a two story addition with a master bed room ensuite bathroom, walkin closet, guest room, and on the main floor an open concept kitchen, family room ,dining area,powder room and side door entry. We had a time table for decision making so we never felt overwhelmed with the choices and decisions that had to be made. Having a site supervisor was great because the communication went through one person on site. Our site supervisor was clearly very experienced and a pleasure to deal with. For him there was only one way to do a job...the right way. In terms of project timing it went very well and we ended up within 5% of our budget plan. You often hear about people's unpleasant reno stories but for us it was a great process with a great result.
