Kitchen, Bathroom and Main Floor Renovation

We had been thinking of renovating/upgrading for the last four years. However, every time a contractor came in for design plans/estimate, we were discouraged at the size of the task. Valentini Kitchens/Home Design were highly recommended by a couple of our friends. From start to finish, we have been very impressed by their professional approach, QUALITY workmanship and positive attitude. Starting from Piero's initial comprehensive visits, detailed drawings, regular communication, triple-checked paperwork, well-planned kitchen/bathroom designs (which involved taking down a supporting wall) and excellent recommendations for flooring/fixtures/counter tops, the whole process was much easier for us. A couple of visits to the Valentini office/workshop gave us the comfort of a well-organized and established family-operated business. All of our special requests were accommodated and our difficult work/time schedules were incorporated. It was a great pleasure to observe Tony at work-his rare craftsmanship is hard to find these days and his meticulous attention to detail was exceptional. Tony's knowledge base and work ethic was incredible and his care and concern for our satisfaction was very touching. Tony's helpers, Paul and Luis, followed his high standards as well. All the professionals who worked with Valentini Kitchens were wonderful. We were always given notice as to when they were coming and the work that would be performed. They were very respectful of our home and clean-up was always neat. Marty and Frank's supervision was excellent with several visits and updates on daily progress. Gene and Dave were great co-workers, always very helpful. Frank, the electrician, performed a massive re-wiring job with the main floor/bathrooms and panel replacement. Besides high quality of work, he always double-checked everything with us. John (plumbing and gas) did excellent work and was very thorough. Tony and Mikhail did a flawless job of plastering and taping. Chris finished floors and staircase nicely. Raony did great with tiling-first thing everyone comments on when they enter our home. Andrew was great with tiling in the bathrooms. Joao was very diligent with painting the whole house. The end result has been a home that is so much more functional and looks fabulous. We had our extended family for our son's wedding recently and together everyone loved and enjoyed the house. Our most sincere appreciation to Piero, Tony and your fantastic team! We are 100% satisfied and happy and will think of you for many years to come.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you so much Bina & Dilip for the kind words to myself, my brother Tony (Anthony) and our entire staff... Words express so much and reading your review makes me love my job more day in and day out!! I am proud to say that we are continuing as a family business to continue the quality workmanship, attention to detail & service that has kept us going in our family business for over 40 years now and I know that our late dad " Mike " would be so proud to have read this review. When I sat down with the both of you that night & we went through the preliminary in home consultation, I knew that you had entrusted me from the minute we first spoke and I knew that I had a large task at hand to complete pretty much your entire home excluding your basement. I love the way everything turned out and I can't wait to bring in the photographers soon to show everyone how we transformed your 1980's built home that wasn't renovated ever into an updated show model home that you can enjoy for many years to come. Thank you Bina, Dilip and the boys (especially " Rishi " ) he was home everyday throughout the home Renovation process and was so kind to all our team. I look forward to coming over for a nice coffee and chat soon, Take Care, Piero and the entire Valentini Team!!

New Hardwood Floors and Kitchen Island

Piero and Tony did an excellent job for us taking up laminate and replacing with engineered hardwood floors. Every detail to exacting standards and fit was perfect. Tony created and installed a new island and quartz top which matched the existing cupboards and new floor perfectly. Working in downtown Toronto condo never easy - they were very professional; not a single complaint from neighbours or management company. Highly, highly recommend.

Valentini Kitchens told me what a good contractor is

I had tried to hire Valentini Kitchens for twice. When I first called Piero, he was busy for some ongoing projects. I had to take the second choice and hire the Filipino contractor suggested by my agent. That was totally a bad decision and it turned out that I had to go back to Valentini Kitchens to finish the renovation job before it was too late. My condo was small, about 800 ft^2. Contractor Elmer started to work in late March. The contract was signed until April 30th. It looked like a good plan, but once he started to work, I found it was nothing but bad. HIs work can be only be said unprofessional. He didn't work every day, because he was working for other people at the same time. Sometimes he didn't show up for several days, even a week. When I called him, he answered positively and promised the next day he would come, but he was still absent more that he worked. He worked in this way until June and totally disappeared. I thought he died from accident or something. Of course he didn't die. He just deserted his job. I had to call my agent to reconnect with him. The next is the good part. Fortunately I still kept Piero's number. I called him immediately after Elmer took away his stuff from my home. Piero was still positive, although he was the backup. I was lucky that he happened to be available then. Piero was very serious to my request. He and his partner, Marty showed up at my home the next day. They did the inspection, made a plan and estimated price in just two days. They sent the painters, Hugo and Jesus right on time as they promised. The painters worked meticulously. They kept my home clean all the time. The Joe the handyman came to work on electronics and flooring after the painting work was done. Joe is a talented in so many areas that he did the all the different jobs perfectly. By the way, he is a funny man too. Every time when a job was done, Marty came inspect and asked me what else they needed to do to make me 100% satisfied. The painters did come the second time to improve what they had done. Piero didn't come so much as Marty did. But he answered my call every time I needed and my requests were sent to Marty on time. The quality of the former contractor's work was much lower, they tried to make it up whenever it was possible. It was actually much more difficult than it sounds to be. Valentini Kitchens worked in a week more than the Elmer in a month, and the quality is better. I learned a lot from both contractors. Wang's made me know what bad jobs a contractor could do. Valentini Kitchens is exactly the opposite, they let me know what good jobs a contractor could do.

    kitchen (s)

Our story with Valentini Kitchens goes WAY WAY back. My parents worked with the late owner Mike in 1972 to put in our household kitchen. My family enjoyed that kitchen for years. As a matter of fact my parents sold their home to my sister when she got married in 1996 and instead of replacing the kitchen (because it was in such great shape) she refinished the cabinet doors and changed the hardware to update it and is still enjoying that kitchen today!! Now that's quality - when you can say you used a kitchen more than 40 years and it still looks awesome! They changed the countertops twice - also just to update the look and because they get worn, but the cabinets themselves are still in beautiful working order. Now I can't remember how much they paid for that original kitchen but whatever it was, it was worth every penny. Fast forward about 30 years and there I am putting in a new kitchen of my own. I did some research, but it was soon clear the best choice for me would be the same as my parents had done. We went to Valentini kitchens in 2003 and Mike began helping us with ideas. Piero came on site and brought us some great ideas and styles. Being a designer myself I didn't think I would need much help, but to be completely honest I ended up scrapping my floor plan the minute I saw Piero's. After all they are the "experts" and are doing kitchens day in and out. I've never regretted it. As a matter of fact the only thing I have ever regretted was not going with another suggestion of Piero's which involved removing a wall. At the time it just seemed too daunting, but in hindsight Piero was absolutely right and we should have removed it as per his recommendation. Installation was done by Tony and "perfection" is an understatement! They installed the complete kitchen in about 3 days and the work was meticulous. Simple things like all door hardware being at the exact level, and caulking beads that are neat and tidy (things that not all companies pride themselves on and then you have to live with the outcome). They were at my house when they said they would be every time and the work was carried out extremely neatly with no mess left behind. I could reach them anytime I needed them and no question or detail was overlooked. I would very gladly recommend Valentini kitchens to anyone looking for expert advice, quality workmanship and professional service. Without a doubt "two thumbs up"!!!

    Kitchen Renovation

There are so many excellent reviews for Valentini's outstanding work, and we certainly agree with all the praise. Everyone on the team does a meticulous job, and after living with our new kitchen for half a year, we have yet to find a flaw. We have often been very disappointed with contractors in the past, so it was a real joy to finally experience a job done right. This was a complete rebuild, including the floor and a wall in our 90 year old house, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Highly recommended!

    Recreation Room Renovation

Thank you so much Piero, Tony, Olivia, Danny, Gene, Frank, Anthony, and the rest of the team for transforming our basement to a modern living space. The great attention to detail and the care put forward along every stage of the project was evident starting off with Piero's fantastic designs of the project so meticulously drawn to ensure that we all understood the job and end result was captured right up front. The job site was kept clean every day and we were never concerned with the mess and dust of construction as the team took the effort to seal off the area from the rest of the house. The team was very friendly and supportive of any questions we had and you could see by the camaraderie as the team has worked together many times before. They were a high performing team right from the get go. We are very pleased with the the quality of the materials -- the hardwood flooring, cabinetry, countertops, doors, etc. and all was installed with expertise and again, care. The team's commitment to completing the job with excellence was reinforced at the end with a big clean-up that was performed by Piero, Olivia and Mickey ensuring the new living space was literally read to move in, with fresh new painted walls! We are truly very appreciative for the wonderful transformation and absolutely love our new rooms -- bathroom, cantina, exercise area, bar and the high tech media room. We will be enjoying this space comfortably for many years to come!!

    Kitchen & Main Floor Renovation

We purchased our current home 5 years ago with intentions to one day renovate the full main floor. In early 2015, we decided it was time to take the plunge and start doing our homework and plan for a renovation. For sure, we were excited but a little uneasy as well, as we knew this was a significant renovation, at least from our perspective. Speaking to most people, going through a major home renovation can be a very stressful event and this wasn't just a kitchen reno, it was a full main floor renovation, opening up walls and reconfiguring the kitchen and family room layouts. After meeting with a number of kitchen designers, contractors and cabinetry builders, without a doubt, we knew that after our first consultation with Piero, he was our guy. On Piero's initial visit, which was to provide a rough estimate, he spent about 5 hours going through meticulous measurements and calculations, as well as, provided a draft sketch of what the kitchen and family rooms would look like, while considering of our limited design input and his expertise. While things did change a little from those initial penciled drawings, it was close! In follow up meetings with Piero to finalize the renovation requirements, what I greatly appreciated was his willingness to try and work with us to bring the cost a little closer to our budgeted figure. We looked at every line item and Piero would bring other great options to the table. To provide some sense of the scope of work involved, the main floor is approximately 1,900 - 2,000 square feet. Kitchen, family room and powder room were fully gutted. Walls between kitchen and family room were opened up to provide a more open concept environment. All flooring throughout the main floor was replaced, along with trim, baseboards, doors, etc., and painting was completed throughout the house. The renovation started September 1st and was completed by mid-November. I'm not sure how many people can say this, but our reno was completed exactly as promised, on time and on budget. Our family hosts Christmas Eve, and it was incredibly exciting to share (and show off a little) our new kitchen with everyone!! I've described our kitchen to a number of people in this way, it truly is beautiful and a very functional piece of art!! Throughout the project, every couple days, we would get a schedule (status) update from Piero as to what would be happening over the next few days, so we always felt we knew exactly what was going on. We were in constant communication throughout the renovation. The people Piero had involved in this project were just incredible, starting with his brother Tony (master kitchen builder and installer) and Danny (and son Anthony), who was the on-site project manager looking after many aspects of the renovation, including the initial demolition to completing the trim work. Tony (Piero's brother) is extremely detailed and precise and notices everything. Tony made the artwork of the kitchen come to life!! Tony is exactly the kind of person you want working in arguably, the most important room in your home. If Tony was the kind of guy you want working in your kitchen, then Danny and his son Anthony are the guys you want managing the work on the rest of your house to ensure it's done correctly!! I can't tell you how many tasks Danny also took on himself, sometimes, I would come home for lunch and in just a few hours, there was a huge transformation to the house, whether it was the walls being opened, or new light fixtures installed, it was done! Even while living through the renovation in our basement (although, still sleeping on second floor), we can honestly say, throughout the whole process, we had so little (if anything) to complain about. Every person who stepped foot into our home was a true professional through and through, and they treated our house with great respect. They were tremendous to work with, even very considerate to take on some small items that could easily have been considered extras, but did it because it was the right thing to do. We would like to thank all the trades that stepped into our home: Gene (demo and wall removal); Joao (painting/plastering); Chris (hardwood); Andrew and Lawrence (tiling floors/backsplash); Gus (plumbing); Enio (electrical); Olivia (design and final cleanup); and to all the others who worked for/with these great people. The biggest complement to any designer and/or contractor is how others feel about their work. We've had coworkers to the house and family members and many have asked for Piero's contact information. Ultimately, people want to work with good genuine people and that's exactly what Piero and everyone at Valentini kitchens are. We have a bathroom renovation coming in the near future, and we look forward to the day that we can reach out again to Piero and Valentini Kitchens to say, please make our bathroom a beautiful and functional piece of art!!! Cheers, Ida and Anthony

    Main Floor Bathroom Renovation

Dealing with Valentini Kitchens was a pleasurable experience from beginning to end. Based on the reputation of their reviews here on Homestars, they did not disappoint!! Everything that was agreed upon was clearly written in the contract and the payment schedule was fair and reasonable. Piero and his brother Anthony are the two caring and trustworthy professionals who run this great family owned company. They have built a reputation of delivering beautifully finished projects, our new magazine worthy bathroom being one of them! Last spring 2015, our sad, dilapidated main floor bathroom was completely gutted and transformed into a thing of beauty and we couldn't be more pleased! A big thank-you to Piero who took care of the planning/designing and always kept us informed through all the various stages of the project. Another big thank-you goes out to Anthony for the beautiful cabinetry and meticulous installation--- PERFECTION is all we can say! We would also like to thank the various tradesmen who did their part and worked diligently to make our project a success: Louis and Paul- bathroom vanity built; Dave- demolition; Danny and Gene- framing/drywall/tile work/trim and finishing; Frank- electrical work ; Gus- plumbing; Joao- painting/plastering. Valentini Kitchens took care to complete our project to the highest quality possible and treated us like family! We will definitely be calling them for our next big project---- the kitchen and we have already recommended them to family and friends. Thanks again, Leon & Filomena

    Kitchen renovation

So we had decided on a main floor renovation and our original kitchen designer/builder fell through. So it was mid-October of 2014 and reached out to a bunch of well-reviewed kitchen companies. He came over in the first weeks of November after we had gone through a few different quotes and concepts. What stood out from the start was that Piero came in to do an in home concept design. He spent the better part of the evening working on it, by talking to us, going over placement of shelving and appliances and working out with us what an island could look like. No other company invested that much time and thought into creating a vision of our kitchen previous to signing a quote. Mid November he had us come in for a review of his drawings and get the quote. After humming and hawing for a few days we agreed to go forward. We picked Valentini mainly because the attention to detail in the drawings, that they were a family company and looking at their previous work/reviews had a sense that they had been doing this for a while and put allot of thought and preparation into what they did. He let us know that his brother (Tony) who builds the cabinets was more detail oriented that he was. Boy what he right. If Piero is the vision guy, Tony is the guy who makes it all happen. He came a few times to measure and re-measure as they built the cabinets. Now solely not the responsibility of Valentini, we had an issues with plumbing, a HVAC exhaust that was going to be covered by the cabinet next to the fridge, an extension to our central vac so it would have a toe kick plate under the sink, and a few other details that he had solutions for and had the guys to make it happen. They had our kitchen installed by the end of January and a few odds and ends that carried over. The actual install went smoothly, the three of them didn't really speak just knew what they were all doing like a hive mind. There was a small issue with the quartz counter but they had it fixed the next day. We added complications with our going back and forth on quartz countertops, crown molding that we wanted unified through the whole house, window/door/baseboard trim that we wanted to align, and we later got a backsplash installed and had gas line and exhaust vent issues. They either handled it or worked with us on a common approach and solution. After living with it now for most of the year, it at the end cost more than we'd have initially envisioned but we got to customize and pull the space together so at the end of the day we are really happy with it and are comfortably looking forward to many family meals prepared and shared within our new kitchen. If only the pendant lights would show up in the pictures (not sourced from Valentini, solely my issue agreeing with my wife in a timely manner).

Kitchen, bathroom, hallway, flooring, and lighting rennovation.

3.5 years ago we had Valentini Kitchen come in to do renovations. We still love it years later! What stood out for us is that they had the work done when they said they would and that the quality of their work was outstanding. We entrusted the work and our home to them and they completely backed it up. Should we have an opportunity for renovations in the future, we would use Valentini again without a doubt (and have provided them as a recommendation to others). Thank you Piero and the team for making a difference in our home!
