Reply created 1 May 2017Dear Abigail. Thank you for posting this review on Homestars and allowing me the opportunity to respond in a public forum. I understand that you are angry and disappointed with the way the job went in your home and I appreciate that sometimes being told the honest truth can be hard to accept. You are correct that there were 2 issues that needed to be addressed under the kitchen sink. The first issue was a basket strainer that was leaking and in very poor condition. This was replaced and at the same time you were told that the wood counter top was in very poor condition and that it was allowing water to leak through. You were told to keep the area above dry. When you called back regarding water in the cabinet again, I sent a plumber immediately (same day). After checks, he told you that it was from the counter top and he advised you again to keep the surface dry. On the 3rd time you called which was almost 3 weeks later I sent a different plumber. He located a bad solder connection under the sink and repaired it and replaced a bad supply line (was not leaking just did not look good). He also advised you that the couner top was in poor condition and that water was leaking down from above and that you should consider additional repairs. When you called me on Friday morning, it was you that immediately told me that you were refusing to pay any more for any repairs. I said that if the leak was as a result of the repairs previously done, then I would do the repairs at no charge. However if it was water from the counter top or any other reason, then I would have to charge. You replied that if further work was needed then you would find some other company. I however would have to send a plumber, which I did at around 11am the same day. He met with your husband and again it was water from the counter top and not a plumbing issue. I have pictures that were taken of the counter top that very clearly illustrate the condition and show the degree of dampness and mold. I may post these on my Homestars Listing and can forward these to you if you wish. I also requested a signature acknowledging the condition of the counter top but this was refused. I understand that you are not a Plumber and that when you see water you immediately assume its a plumbing leak, and yes we did repair two separate leaks in the same area. This does happen on occasion in older homes where the overall condition of the plumbing, drains and cabinets is not that great. It is unfortunate that you found my tone to be rude ( possibly due to my accent) but all I was trying to do was to be honest and transparent with you. I'm sure that the general public that read this review and see a Zero by my name will question it as I have been in business for over 20 years and have never had a bad review on Homestars before. I wish you all the best with resolving your water issues and thank you again for this opportunity. One I seldom if ever get. Regards Michael Aviv
