Small office parking lot paving and Stone work

Jason was great to deal and very open to all my calls. He was very professional as I would expect and I particularly liked how much time he spent here during the work. The stone crew and the paving crew were great - I really enjoy the paving foreman he was such an artist in getting the work done. We have no problem referring others to Metro Wide. Thanks again for a great job and experience - the results are beautiful.

Quality job on asphalt drive and interlock walkways

In Spring 2015, Metro Wide Paving installed a new asphalt drive with interlock border, interlock front walk and stairs, interlock side walk, flagstone rear patio and basement window wells. We are repeat customers. Joe did an asphalt drive for us 10 years ago. This time, I called other pavers/stone guys for quotes. I decided to go with Joe Zappia at Metro Wide for the following reasons: a) Joe stands by his work We happened to get a bad batch of interlock stone from the manufacture (no fault of Metro Wide). Pitting started to appear in the stones over the winter. Joe was here as soon as the Spring 2016 paving season started and he re-did the walk ways. b) The work is great quality c) Joe starts the work when he says he will, his crew works all day, every day until the work is complete. d) Joe's crew are polite and hardworking. e) Metro Wide's prices are competitive. And he won't try to up-sell you to work you don't need. f) When the job was done, my yard was completely clean with no sign the crew had even been there....well, except for the great new walkways. I trust Joe's experience and recommendations. I would use him again and refer him to friends and family. We've done quite a bit of work on our house and dealt with many types....Joe is one of the good guys.

    Paved driveway and stone walkway

I was referred to the folks at metro wide by a friend whom had some work done a few years back. My call and questions were answered promptly, and they had a sales rep to see me for an evening appointment withing 48 hours. When he arrived the sales rep spoke English (what a relief! ) and took the time to address all my queations and thourgly explained the whole process. The pricing and completion times were solar to other quotes I'd received. What stood out with metro wide was there level of professionality, attention to detail, and quick service. My work was completed on tim3e and it lools great. Best of all when they left the job site was spotless! Not a single piece of scrap or mess or debris left behind. I would highly recommend this company. Job well done!!!!

    Driveway Paving

We have resided in our home for 27 years. In 2012 we chose to re-pave our 3 car garage driveway. After 24 years we thought it could use a face lift. Metro Wide Paving was recommended to us through a friend. Joe responded promptly, gave us a quote and date for service. On June 25, 2012 crew and equipment arrived and work was completed and payment made. The following spring 2013 we noticed cracks on the right side of driveway. We contacted Joe and reported the cracks. I questioned why is it that our last driveway lasted 24 years without any cracking and his cracked after one winter. He advised that the quality of the products are not as good as what was used 24 years prior. He promised to send his crew to repair cracks. Two men showed up with a propane tank and torch, heated the asphalt and closed the cracks with the softened asphalt using the back of a shovel.. The following spring 2014 the crack re-appeared, they were longer and deeper in depth. I again contacted Joe to report and he once again said he would send crew to repair. I told him that what they were doing was not fixing the problems only applying a band aid. He did come to the house and said a car must have parked close to the edge in one spot which caused the cracks, but that doesn't explain why the cracks run approx. 20 feet in length and are deep to the base. They came and again heated the asphalt and closed the cracks. Joe came by the house in January, and told us he would fix the problem and put a new surface on driveway at his expense. Once again after this past winter(2015) the cracks were again open and I again contacted Joe. Again he agreed to send his men. When they came, again at the beginning of June with propane tank, torch and shovel, I told them that we were under the impression that the problem was going to be permanently fixed and unless Joe was prepared to send them every spring just to heat the surface asphalt to forget it, that is just a waste of time. They agreed that what they were doing was not going to permanently fix the problem. He called my cell phone on the evening of June 6th. and was angry that we sent his men away. He was yelling and wouldn't let my husband or I get a word in edge wise. I told him we were out to dinner at a restaurant celebrating our son's birthday and would have to continue the conversation at another time. He said he would call on the following Monday. We are still awaiting the call. Bottom line, we are a dissatisfied customer of Metro Wide Paving.

    Answer from pro:

It is a shame when a client writes a review and gives us a 2 when we have responded to her every call!! We repaired the crack the first time- after the warranty had expired where the culvert was, no other cracks anywhere else on the driveway, only where the culvert was. There was a subsequent call, and the crew was sent out and they were turned away last summer, again, after the warranty had expired. A car had parked close to the edge and had crushed the asphalt, they told my men that they wanted a surface on the entire driveway. I did visit Mrs. Morra this past winter to look at the problems. A driveway that is over 3 years old now, an edge that has a crack, due to driving too close to the edge, a crack where the culvert is, and I told Beverly that this will always happen, even the previous driveway had cracks there!!! I promised her to seal the cracks, and they would return, and I promised to apply an asphalt sealant on the entire driveway at my cost- which I did not have to do, the warranty had elapsed!!! Beverly agreed this would be O.K.and than when my men arrived there, the tune had totally changed, all of a sudden she said I was going to re-pave the entire driveway!!!! Really??? The date of June 6th when my brother arrived to repair the cracks and crushed edge, Mr. Morra attacked our company, and said we were not worth anything according to him, this is after we were there 3 times to repair a problem after the warranty has expired. (we were there due to the respect we have for the person that recommended us) I was angry with Mr. Morra, I told him we were there to repair a problem after the warranty had expired, and how dare he rip our company after we have been so courteous. If he had no regards about our company, than I wasn't going to waste $ 500.00 to have a man re-seal the driveway at my cost. (Mrs. Beverly Morra could be heard in the back ground saying "No No, Joe is a good guy, and he has a fine company") She promptly got on the phone, apologized to me, and said she would call me back in the morning..................I never heard back from her!! Her 2 should not have even been recognized by Home Stars, and I will be contacting the office today to have this complaint deleted from our file!! It is over 3 years old, we attended numerous times after the warranty has expired!!! What have we done wrong!! This driveway will not have to be repaved anytime soon!!! Cracks can appear on asphalt, it does not mean they have to repave the driveway...........give me a break!! This will definitely be the last time I repair a job after the warranty has elapsed...............clients like this take the fun right out of being a nice guy!! Take care, next time I will have my guard up!!!

    Paving laneway parking pad

I have a double spot behind my home in a laneway that was unpaved and a safety hazard in winter due to pooling water that freezes, effectively creating a skating rink. In summery of 2014, I called three companies and two called me back, one of which was Joe's. He came out, did an estimate and I could tell right away I made a good choice. He was friendly and frank about the issues and the cost (narrow laneway, bad grading) that would affect the project. I went ahead and his team did the work. Over this past winter, I noticed there was still pooling/freezing happening, and as soon as the ice and snow were gone I called Joe about the problem. He responded immediately and was very attentive after that. His team came out on a Saturday morning to fix the job, which looks great, and solved the pooling issue. To me, the true sign of a good company is one that fixes problems after you have paid the bill and said goodbye. They know their reputation depends on doing work that stands the test of time. Metro Wide Paving is one of those companies. My neighbour has his driveway repaved and is unhappy. I told him he should have called Joe!

    Driveway asphalt paving

We hired Joe and his team from Metro Wide Paving based on a neighbours recommendation. What a mistake. Had to chase after him because he kept postponing our job. When they finally did show up, they did a terrible job. We have a basement window along our driveway and while the workers were doing the installation I went out to see how things were going. It's a good thing I did because they were about to pave over the lower portion of the glass block window. I had to argue with the workers to stop and redo it. As for Joe, he was nowhere to be found. Probably out lining up his next project. Never again will I use this company.

    Answer from pro:

I am not sure which Joe you are referring to?? I am the owner of Metro Wide Paving Ltd, My name is Joe Zappia. When ever there is a problem with a job, I personally see to it that it is taken care of, and the client is satisfied. I was never aware of this project, or of your complaints. I will say, the window you talk about, if it is too low, it would not be the first time that we have had to buiild the asphalt higher to ensure that the water slopes away from the home!! Sometimes we add an asphalt edge, sometimes we build it up with bricks, sometimes we install masonary borders. It is our objective to ensure the water slopes away from the home. Because the asphalt was installed over a small portion of your glass block window, does not mean that it was a poor job. In the end, you ended up having what you wanted, and there are no problems with the driveway, The proper amount of asphalt was provided right? That's why you paid us upon completion?? Yes, I do line up alot of projects because we are an A+ paving firm, and have been so for over 27 years!! I can understand being upset with the way the job was going, but in the end you got what you wanted. How you give us a 0 is beyond me. You still have a driveway that functions as it should, and you were satisfied, that's why you paid us. Also, I am sure we told you six weeks from the time the project was secured we would have it completed. I think your rating is harsh, and nowhere near reality, others I am sure will agree with me, we did not rip you off or misrepresent. In closing, if there is an outstanding problem with your driveway today, please contact me directly at: 416.605.8776 and I will be sure to attend to discuss your concerns, that is how I conduct my business, but from your review, it just sounds like you are upset that we put your job on hold, nowhere do you indicate we ripped you off, or shortchanged you on materials promised. I can live with that, If your project was seriously a 0, we need to re-attend so that I can re-pave your driveway, and make sure we are at least a 5!!! Please advise if this is the case.

    Driveway paving

This company came recommended to me by my neighbour. The team was reliable, professional, honest, and courteous. The price was competitive within the industry. They offer free estimates and were very prompt in providing service. Easy to see why they have been in business for over 25 years.

    Driveway paving and interlock

We would like to thank Joe for his professionalism, honesty and patience during the times that we are in the process of selecting a right company to do the job. He was not pushy or harrashing us with frequent phone calls after he gave us the quote. The driveway was done as we requested and expected. There was going to be a delay on the schedule due to the weather but he was able to get it done on time . He also did our interlock patio 2 yrs ago and we were happy with the result. The costs were a reasonable price and we recommend Metrowide Paving to anyone who needs their services.

    Paving private laneway

As part of a group effort with my neighbors, I embarked on a project to have our private lane re-paved, as it was in state of total disrepair. We called up to 10 different companies, of which only 3 actually called us back. MetroWide was one of those companies. Joe came to quote the job, and then we didn't proceed until a year late. (due to a court case over the road). We eventually hired MetroWide in May 2011, and they completed the job on time and on schedule. We had a couple of concerns during the project, however Joe was always quick to communicate and remedy the problem. His crew worked hard, and they did a professional job. Joe was personally onsite at least 2 out of the 3 days. I believe he takes his company's reputation very seriously and I thought they did a great job. We did have them come back to do some extra work, and again Joe was fair and we negotiated a good price. He is willing to work with you, and listen to your concerns. I found this company to be honest in their dealings, and they will not rip you off. Joe even gave us 6 pilons to keep for our lane, for FREE. I would recommend this company if you want fast, reliable service at a fair price, and if you want someone who will actually return your calls!
