Rocco is an architect who doesn't sit idle! He's always on the move when it comes to his clients' needs. He is fast and precise in what he does and would make his clients understand what they need and what's good for them. My Wife & I thank him for the service he provided us against many odds! The project involved drafting renovation plans, securing building permits, and completing progress reports through the project. Rocco proved to be a tremendous asset and his knowledge and insight into the design and permit process was evident throughout. Rocco was highly responsive, provided solid recommendations, and completed the work faster than expected. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire Rocco and his team for future renovation projects.

Rocco was recommended by my contractor to develop our site plans and oversee permit approvals with the City of Toronto. It could not have been a smoother or quicker process. In less than 7 weeks we went from our first introduction and site visit to approved plans from the City. He gave great advice which we could choose to accept or ignore and even provided responses to our questions when he was on vacation. Working with Rocco was the easiest part of renovating our detached three-story home.

Working with Rocco was a pleasure. During our preliminary meeting, we were amazed at how quickly and accurately he measured and drew our entire house in what seemed like minutes. It was immediately apparent that he had been doing this for awhile and was good at what he did. He then produced quality plans and worked with us to come up with a great design that met our needs. He was also able to secure the permits in a timely fashion. Throughout the whole process his communication and responsiveness to emails was fantastic. We highly recommend his services.

My partner and I hired Architalcan Design based on a referral, for a massive redesign of our property, including retail and residential units, a main floor and 3rd story addition as well as a basement extension. Rocco and his draftsperson took care to understand our vision and our needs, and to balance this with the City by-laws and history of the building. Rocco resolved issues and responded whenever we reached out, whether he was in Canada or Italy, to ensure the plan was properly executed. When we were faced with challenges by the City, Rocco advocated for our project and worked with the City to get the permits through the entire process. When we were faced with challenges during the basement excavation with our initial contractor, Rocco came to our rescue to recommending first rate builders from his rich source of professional acquaintances to get the job done and done well by the best. The best part of all, is that Rocco made sure that we could stick to our vision even when times were tough throughout the project, that is the true art of being an architect.

Rocco knew what to do for the general/detail plans and was quick to respond to the City reviewing staff with the modifications necessary to allow them to issue a permit. I would deal with Rocco/Architalcan to obtain a permit again without hesitation

I have heard many a frustrating story from friends and neighbours about home renovations and building permits. With Rocco - you avoid any and all trouble or angst!! Rocco helped me to design my basement renovations. He prepared all structural, underpinning and design drawings and took care of all the city applications and permits. The entire process was complete within 3 weeks of engaging Rocco! He understands your needs and creates initial designs that meet them. He is quick and responsive to incorporate any tweaks or changes in the drawings. I cannot say enough amazing things about Rocco! He is a pleasure to work with. He is personable, professional, responsive, efficient and he gets things done in record time!

I worked with Rocco at Architalcan Design to design and apply for a permit with the city of Toronto to move our staircase. Rocco was extremely responsive, professional, and knowledgeable. He always responded right away, even responding to my emails at 10PM and weekends, when I would have questions or sent him updates. He was one of a few structural engineers that I called and I instantly felt that he was the best fit (at a very reasonable price). Due to some concerns about the scope of the renovations from our contractors (HVAC, water lines etc.), Rocco made multiple updates to the drawings and charged very fairly for the updates. He was patient and listened until the drawings were exactly what we wanted and our contractors had no more concerns. The process of applying for the permit was a breeze, since Rocco took care of the communication with the City and application process. Even with COVID, we received approval from the city within a week. I would highly recommend Rocco and Architalcan Design to anyone looking to do major renovations and structural changes to their house.
