We hired Firemen movers for a move in the winter. The people within the company are very professional and very nice; they were able to provide a reasonable quote within a short time frame and that was greatly appreciated. I was excited to be working with them and trusted them implicitly (they're firemen after all!!). Lorne informed us that there would be 5 movers on the job and that it would take between 8-10 hours. On the day of the move, however, only 4 movers came and the job took a lot longer than expected (17 hours total). Unfortunately, one of the guys fell ill, so we were down to 3 movers and one guy got injured...really unfortunate. Another mover came later on (which was great) and we wrapped up in 17 hours. Things were damaged - light fixtures, furniture, walls, ceilings etc. I wasn't mortified by this as I know things like this happen when people move and especially when the movers are exhausted. We were compensated for some of the damaged goods (thankful for that) but the memory of it all still remains (not a good memory, unfortunately). It was all so chaotic. I've been thinking about what to write here for a very long time. I like this company, I really do and feel bad saying something negative but here's the bottom line: this is not a "moving" company in my humble opinion. This is a company who's hired some well built (and nice) firemen to move things. When a problem would arise, the guys really didn't know what to do. I'll give examples: our queen size mattress box couldn't fit up the stairs so, it was left in the living room. Our dresser couldn't fit up the stairs...it too was left in the living room. Not once did anyone "think" about how to get these items to their proper location; we had our handyman on site who was helping and he and my husband had to figure these things out. Both pieces were moved to their rightful locations by our handyman and my husband - and that was another out of pocket cost to our handyman (which is OK but he's not the moving company we hired). So, my disappointment rests in the fact that when I hire a company and pay a lot of money, I expect them to not only "do the job", I expect them to think while on the job and not just be mechanical about it. It's not OK for my things to get damaged. It's not OK for my dresser and mattress box to be left in the living room with an explanation of "well, what do you want, they don't fit up the stairs"...because they did fit up the stairs, you just have to think about how to get them up the stairs (which we did). It's not OK for a job to take 17 hours and for everyone involved to be frustrated, exhausted and at the end of their ropes. In the move, we also lost a big bag of our clothing - it just disappeared. No one could find it (and 5 month later still is missing). Can't blame the guys for this but..."sorry we can't find it"...(sigh). I have to say that there were a few things that were moved into my parents' home that evening and that experience was good and seamless (thank God). It is for these reasons that I would not hire Firemen Movers again - I'm sad to say that because I really wanted to have a positive experience like so many others attested to on Homestars but this is my truth. Maybe it was the act of moving - I can't believe people do this all the time - or the moving company or both but this wasn't a good experience for me or my family. We'll be really hard pressed to even think of moving again. On a happier note, the administrative team and owners are organized, easy to reach, easy to talk to and a real pleasure to deal with.

If there was ever such a thing as an enjoyable move, this was it. We've moved several times over the years & were determined the next one would be done by Firemen. From start to finish, this was the least stressful, thanks entirely to the crew. They were fantastic-on time & under budget with witty & charming personalities to boot. I also want to thank Doug for his expertise, his attention to detail & his obvious commitment to the company's clients. This truly was a moving experience!

We have used Doug's team on two occasions. These guys are professional, courteous, organized and hard working. If you asked me what they could have done better or differently, than I would simply say nothing. I cannot recommend these guys enough - they are the best at what they do. I never had a single concern from start to finish with these guys. We will continue to use you guys both personally and professionally. Keep up the great work !

I had booked Firemen Movers because I was going to be moving to a new apartment and had a few pieces that were going to be a nightmare to move (kegerator, piano, vintage keyboard). I also really, really hate moving. Before that moving day even came up I realized I would need movers at work for a large (800 lb+) machine we had ordered, so I called to see if they could handle that as well. Sure enough, they took on both jobs, and I was very satisfied on both occasions. The movers were friendly, organized, hardworking, and professional. Communication leading up to the move (and during the move, regarding how to handle certain pieces) was clear and effective. Definitely will use Firemen Movers next time.

Second time using Firemen movers...and this time was as great as the last ! The guys were great, very professional, helped take things apart and put them back together. Not a scratch on anything. Although I don't want to move for a while, I would use them again in a second !

I highly recommend Firemen Movers. It was a pleasure to work with them from the initial contact by email through to the final followup phone call. It was a large move with two trucks and five guys. Rob and his crew were outstanding. It was a cold day in January and we had to deal with challenges remaining from the ice storm and from new snowfall. From the time they arrived promptly in the morning until the end of the day, everyone was cheerful and helpful. The total time quoted by Doug was very accurate and there were no hidden extra costs when it came time to settle the bill at the end of the day. I won't hesitate at all to recommend Firemen Movers to anyone and, in the future, they will be my go to company whenever I'm in need of a mover.

I was very happy with the crew,Jesse, Ahmad,Kyle and Andrew. It had to be the coldest day of the year and they were courteous and very hard working and never complained. Everything was moved with care and nothing was damaged. I would highly recommend this company.

This was a difficult move - 7 fully grown cedar trees planted in half wine barrels & frozen to the ground. Firemen Movers were on time, courteous, listened to me about how to move the trees safely so no one got hurt, and we all worked together as a team. Jamie & Andre were AWESOME! I'd use Firemen Movers again in an INSTANT!

I have had the "pleasure" of moving over 35 times in my life - internationally mainly, using small companies as well as some of the world's best known names in moving. I love the concept of Firemen Movers - it's a great idea and they do not disappoint. From my first discussion and meeting with Lorne to the end when the team drove away from my new home Firemen Movers' service was top notch. Jamie, Rob, John and Mark - you were all professional, polite and clean - yes, clean really matters when you are handling someone's belongings!! I enjoyed the banter throughout the two days of packing and then uplift and thank you for your patience positioning furniture (although I think I want my sofa taken down to the basement now please....). Not one item was broken, scratched or damaged and no marks on my newly painted walls and ceilings in the new house. I truly believe you are the best movers I have ever used and would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone seeking reliable, careful and professional movers. In fact, I already have to a few people... Honest and value for money with a smile. THANK YOU for making my move as stress-free as possible. I will use you next time I relocate- if you can take me back to Australia!
