    Backwater valve

I should have written this months ago. We were flooded in July 2013 like many other homes in Mississauga. Drain City did a nice neat job of installing a backwater valve. Jason explained everything clearly and the work was started and completed as requested. He also helped me to understand why the valve would be better and should go outside the house instead of digging up the basement floor. I would recommend them again (and already have!). The city inspector was impressed too and said that many contractors don't do such a neat job. (When you're shopping around, be aware of companies that will want to charge you more because you're getting a permit and having it done properly. I had one company that wanted to charge an extra $400 to come back another day and backfill because they would have had to leave it open one day for the inspector to check.) Jason and the team were polite and courteous, no issues at all. Consider them for your backwater valve installation.

Clearing basement drain, new plastic pipe out to city line

DrainCity left a huge mess outside in the front of my home where they dug to replace a small piece of plastic pipe. The service technician never came back to clear it up even though I sent pictures of the mess and was told they would come back and make it right. There was gravel and mud mixed up and left for months in a pile to freeze in the winter temps. After numerous calls and emails i finally gave up and asked another contractor to remove the rubble. I would not recommend them for this reason. The customer service is sub par at best. We felt completely ripped off for over $2000.

    backflow preventer

my basement was flooded with backed up stormwater during that toronto rainstorm early july 2013. i phoned DrainCity and in a short period of time they had sent two different estimators and then installed a backflow preventor in the ground outside my house. they were very professional and friendly and fast. they also forwarded me all the instructions and paperwork required to apply for the city of toronto's rebate program which, in theory, pays for roughly $1,300 of the $2,100 bill. so far, i love them and would recommend them to anyone. i say so far because the valve has not yet been tested with any major rainstorms, and i have not yet applied for the rebate. but i don't expect to be disappointed. if you need some drain-related work done, give them a call. they're great. you'll see. alan

    Backflow valve

Following on the July 2013 freak storm that hit areas of Etobicoke particularly hard in relation to flooding, we decided to install a backflow valve. Draincity staff (Jason, Dimitri & Dimitri) did an amazing job and were so helpful. We've recommended this company's services to family and friends, as well as many neighbours. We hope that others will consider taking this important step too. Thank you to Draincity! Elizabeth & Mervyn

    Waterproofing of basement

I contracted draincity to waterproof my basement - july 2 2013, they did the work on July 3-4 2013 and July 8th i came home to my house flooded with mud. When i phoned the company on July 8th, they said they didn't know what they could do about it but would get back to me that evening, they did not. On July 9th the tech - came to my house & viewed the mud flood in my basement & said it was an old gas line leaking into the house ( if this was true whuch it was not - they should have sealed the gasline). In futher discussions with the company they stated that they would not refund my money- they are rude and yell at their customers. THEY TELL YOU THEY HAVE A 10 YEAR GUARANTEE _YET THEIR WORK DID NOT EVEN LAST 5 DAYS. They honour nothing. i had to have another company come and dig up their work & they found that DrainCity did not attach the weeping to teh foundation drain or sanitary drain causing a massive watertable that entered my basement and would continue to enter my basement, causing deadly mould and destroy the foundation of the entire house.

    Installation of Back Water Valve

My husband & I contacted DrainCity when our basement flooded back in July of 2012. Water came up from the city line and when Viktor came out to see our basement he recommended the installation of a back water valve. While we were initially pleased with the work done by his crew, time proved us wrong. It quickly became evident that the $2600 we had spent was money wasted, as the back water valve does not function properly. Whenever it rains, water comes into the pit and fills up the pit. It doesn’t go away, even days later, and so we are forced to open the valve to let the water drain down the pipe. We have to leave the cap off the valve in order for water to drain down, rendering the back water valve completely useless. It cannot function when the cap is off. But leaving it on, especially during a rain storm (which is when you’d want it on the most) causes the pit to fill up with water and that itself will over flow into our basement. Even worse, is that I recently contacted DrainCity and Viktor about this problem and was told that if we wanted anything done to fix the problem we would have to pay for it ourselves. When I politely expressed my opinion that I felt DrainCity should honour their work, Viktor told me “Well, that may be how you think but we think differently.” DrainCity has proven to be nothing but unprofessional and I would definitely NOT recommend them or their services, for fear the job could go wrong, and they’d leave you high and dry, just like us.

    Water service and sewer upgrade

Scope of work: - Upgrade water service from city limit to meter to 1" copper. - Install new floor and sink drains in basement floor. - Replace clay sewer pipe up to city limit with PVC and install a backflow valve. The workmanship, turn-around time and cleanliness of this job were excellent. The work required several concrete cuts and holes to be made - these were efficiently made and well patched up. The crew were very competent and hard working. The job started on time and finished ahead of schedule, even though the scope of work turned out to be larger than originally expected. One incident occurred that we do want to note - the crew used electricity from the neighbouring house (an external outlet) without asking, which significantly upset the neighbour. However, the company showed redeeming care by later apologizing directly to the neighbour and offering to make up the electrical cost. Although the incident shouldn't have happened in the first place, we felt the company were thorough in attempting to correct the mistake. Overall, the work was skillfully executed, the crew (including management) showed great care for the job, and the value was excellent for the scope. We would not hesitate to recommend this company.

    Drain problems

When I bought my house three years ago, I was told that there was a minor plumbing issue (a missing piece of pipe to the second floor). Unfortunately that was not the case. Beside the missing pipe, a furnace contractor noticed that the plumbing in the basement was configured so that the toilet drain was flowing out to a floor drain in the kitchen. I got 5 different quotes from drain and plumbing companies to fix this problem. The quotes went up to $10,000. (This particular company wanted $300. to give me that quote. The plumber said it was to get people to pick their company because the potential client had already invested money toward the job. He was asked to leave.) I chose DrainCity because their quote seemed to be the most fair and clear. Each part of the job was itemized in writing and explained to me in simple terms by Dimitri. I was not charged for the quote or made to feel that the issues were dire or complicated. As the agreed upon work went along, other problems were found. This was my worst nightmare because I knew I could be held over a barrel. I wasn’t. Each new job was reasonably quoted, fully discussed and added to the invoice. In the end Dimitri and Yaroslav did more work for me than the other quotes and they were still the most reasonable. They showed me everything they had completed before they filled the areas back in. And, after digging up part of my basement floor (Yarsoslav was waist deep in the hole when I met him) and then ripping up the floor in the upstairs bathroom to replace corroded pipes, they left my place cleaner than when they started. Dimitri and Yaroslav were always punctual, extremely neat and they worked, without any drama, until everything was tested and working properly. Beginning from a situation I was dreading to confront, I certainly felt in the end that the best thing that could have happened, happened, thanks to Dimitri and Yaroslav. Recently, a water pipe burst in the winter cold snap., flooding my basement bathroom. I phoned DrainCity and Dimitri called me back within minutes (from a party). The pipe was capped closed by a good-hearted, handy friend in the neighbourhood. But the whole concrete floor had to come up. Under the concrete was old decrepit clay pipes that crumbled when moved. I wouldn’t have called anyone else but DrainCity. Again, Dimitri and Yaroslav got the work done for a very fair price with no drama. Can't brag enough about them... Susan, Toronto

    Drain and grease trap clog$200.00

I contacted DrainCity regarding a clogged kitchen and grease trap.. From my inital conversation with their representative Elena, they demonstrated professionalism and attention to my needs and worked to get me help asap. The plumber Dimitri was on time and demonstrated a high degree of professionalism. He took care to ensure that the work was done well, any mess cleaned up and provide advice for future prevention. This company and its employees have provided me with the best experience I have had with anyone in this industry. Highly Recommended.
