    Seasonal garden care

The Garden Girls took care of the weeding, replanting and reorganizing the flower / plant garden I inherited from the previous owners. They took it from overgrown, heavily weedy, mess to something more in line with my own preferences. The Garden Girls were incredibly knowledgeable, professional and paid great attention to detail. I'm very, very happy and looking forward to working with them again next year on a much anticipated vegetable garden.

Louise it was a pleasure to help you sort out your likes and dislikes of the garden you inherited. We like when a new owner starts to enjoy the space as their own. We are eagerly awaiting helping you plant and nurture your first vegetable garden.

Decorating for my daughter's upcoming wedding

Summer 2013, it was the week before my daughter's Bridal Garden Tea Party and I desperately needed help! I could not keep both the front garden and the back garden in tip top shape for the bridal shower so I sent a "cry for help" to Darla, my ultimate and most trusted garden professional. Darla and the Garden Girls pulled weeds, planted flowers and trimmed my trees. They kept the grass as green as ever by watering it all day so that it looked perfect on the day of the shower. It was indeed a beautiful bridal shower in the most beautiful surroundings. Thanks Darla, Lucy and the Garden Girls, without you I could not have done it!

    Answer from pro:

Yasmin, The Garden Girls were so happy to help you get the last few things ready for the bridal shower. The pressure of knowing we would take care of the outside I think brought you great comfort so you could focus on getting other things ready so you knew things would be perfect for your party! Thanks so much for having us help out.

    Garden Maintenance

They arrive with such eagerness and enthusiasm you think that it won"t last but it does! They like what they do and they are so good at it. Delightful help for the garden and me. And, after the garden is polished, waste carefully placed for pick up; they are off - still smiling. I just love them!

    Answer from pro:

Gerry, what a great way of describing what we do. How we arrive ready and actually excited about making your property look better, feel better so you can enjoy the view. The fact we are eager, joyful, and still smiling when we leave. Thanks so Much!!

    Gardening

My wife and I are seniors and we had the Garden Girls do work for us for the first time this past spring, summer and fall. Over 4 visits they did a winter cleanup , planted our flowers, weeded the gardens. They were a cheery, hard working, knowledgeable group of 4 or 5 women and easy to work with. The Garden Girls are our "go to" group and we recommend them highly. We also had the Garden Girls design and install a river rock border along the side of our house. Without their hard work it is questionable whether we could keep our property looking as good as we would like. We are happy to have found them.

Hi B& N, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It was so nice to be able to meet you and work on your property. Your son bought you the lovely present of a Spring Cleanup and we were so glad to return to help you keep your gardens lovely. Who would have ever thought we would find out your were one of my mom's teachers from over 40 years ago. Its a small wonderful world!!

    Garden maintenance

We hired the Garden Girls to trim some plants that had gone crazy over the summer. They were very knowledgeable when they came for the quote, and overall they did a good job at a reasonable price. However, the lack of communication was an issue for us. They didn't tell us when they were coming, and they also didn't wait for us to respond to them with instructions on what we wanted trimmed and what we didn't. They claim that they sent an email which I never received, which I can't confirm, but I did receive every other email from them. Overall the quality of work and knowledge were good, but communication could be improved.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for your comments Allen. I am glad you felt we did do a good job at a reasonable price. I have to say as we worked we discussed the outcome of our work and "Taming of The Crazy" you felt you had, is how we approached your cleanup and weeding. In our initial consult visit you showed us around and we discussed all of the work that could be done and exactly how we would do it. We quoted a range of time time to do the work. With budget considerations you had, we replied that we would do our best to get around the whole property however if we couldn't do everything we discussed then where your priority be was the only answer we were waiting for.( IF we could not get all the way around, I do not like to leave things unfinished) I did email the expected day we were visiting on Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 3:40pm letting you know we could fit you in the next day (as we had an opening while we worked in your area). We attended your property, and were able to complete everything we discussed except some possible transplanting. We didn't do this as you had planted new plants in a the empty area that we discussed. They were in a manner that we could not add the plants that we had discussed possible splitting 2 or 3 hostas. It would have required rearranging plants you had planted and that was not within your budget, and timeframe. Also it is something we would have had to discuss which we had hoped to do after you got home and seeing it all cleaned and "Tamed". I am disappointed that you did not get the email, but I was completely thrilled with the "Tamed" outcome, We always try our very best to stick to budgets, properly finish jobs, and communicate clearly with the hope our customers will have faith and trust that their gardens are in good hands!

They came in to help clean up our garden in the spring. Were friendly, professional and efficient. We would definitely recommend them to friends or family and hope to have them back to our garden again next year!

    Garden maintenance while overseas

We needed someone to look after our gardens while we were overseas for four months this summer. I contacted a number of companies on Homestars. Darla was very quick to respond, happy to be flexible with number of visits, amount of time spent in the garden, what to prioritize, etc. She was more than happy to try to work within a prearranged budget, and the hourly rate was very competitive. We hired The Garden Girls and went away. I was a bit nervous to leave the gardens because we landscaped the front in 2011 and it is still getting established. There is a lot of bindweed in the front and we really needed it to be kept at bay. I really shouldn't have worried at all. Darla kept in contact with me, sent us photos of the garden after some of their visits, and was extremely understanding when due to our not-entirely-observant house sitter I thought they had missed a visit. The garden looked immaculate upon our return- better than it ever had when we're in charge! Darla also managed to keep under budget, which was greatly appreciated, even while waging war on the bindweed (and it is really bad). I can say with confidence that we would recommend The Garden Girls to everyone we know, and we're already planning to enlist their help for when we're overseas again (for a shorter time) next summer. Thank you so much, Darla and the other Girls!

Thank You Angela for such a wonderful and thoughtful review. We are so glad you took the time to mention how we calmed your worries, how we kept up communication with you so you knew how your gardens looked and how we attained and achieved a budget ( and coming under)! You do have a difficult situation with the binder weed. We are so glad you felt taken care of, and we always like to leave things better than how we found it. We loved when you asked on behalf of your husband what kind of fertilizer we had used to make your gardens grow. Of course we just used our knowledge and regular visits and the garden responded with growing in healthy and happy! We will await your next trip and our return to your garden. Hopefully we will have a cure for binder weed!!

    Vegetable Garden Weeding and upkeep

Our family has a very large vegetable garden and with our busy lives and my father turning 90 I decided to hire the Garden Girls to weed and maintain our vegetable garden. They have done an incredible job!! they certainly know what they are doing as with this cool, wet summer our vegetables are thriving! I would highly recommend them for any garden work. They have truly made a 90 year old VERY happy!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Lina for the opportunity to help in your family vegetable garden. We were so lucky to have met your Dad and have a wonderful conversation with him about his garden and how he liked to have things. It was such a shame he spent the rest of the growing season in the hospital. I know it gave him a great sense of calm knowing things were taken care of so he could focus on getting better and coming home which I hope he did. I still need to learn his method of tying the tomatoes!!
