Hello Dave. Thank you ever so much for your detailed summary of our project which we completed for you at the end of May 2021, seven (7) months ago. Glad to hear that the drainage system has handled the unusually heavy rains this fall that caused flooding elsewhere, and that you and your family and friends have been enjoying your transformed outdoor living space, particularly beneficial during the pandemic. It was lovely to hear from you in June of 2020 to start the planning process for your backyard transformation to occur the following year, after having completed the refresh of your front entrance porch and walkway in 2019. Given the prevailing materials shortages due to the pandemic, we purchased your chosen pavers, wall systems and slabs in 2020 and secured the materials at our staging yard over the winter. Thanks to the favorable weather and ground conditions in late 2020, we were able to excavate the patio area and install the base material, giving us a head start for your project originally scheduled for the following year. For HomeStars readers, I will summarize your paver choices depicted in the attached images … Paver manufacturer: OAKS Landscape Products. MAIN PAVER: Oaks’ RIALTO paver (three sizes). Colour: MACKINAW. ACCENT PAVER for Sailor Course*: Oaks’ MONTEREY. Colour: ONYX. Size: Small Rectangle 8” x 16”. (*Accent pavers installed in a Sailor Course pattern, where pavers are laid end-to-end to create an approx. 8-inch-wide contrasting perimeter band.) From your images, HomeStars readers will notice the gorgeous outdoor fireplace/pizza oven at the corner of your patio. I would venture to say that the overriding goal in paver selection, was to find a colour that would harmonize with the stone accents of the fireplace/pizza oven that you had specially ordered from the United States and which had not yet arrived at the time of paver selection. As you mentioned, we hit a bit of a roadblock in accessing a sufficient quantity of your preferred main paver. The manufacturer had discontinued that paver colour option. Luckily, after reaching out to more than 50 dealers in Ontario, we found sufficient quantity at a dealer in Winona. Hurray! And, as readers can see from the images, the match with your fireplace is spot-on – extraordinary! I should also direct readers’ attention to the image of a grassy area at the south side of your home. In this transitional space between the new walkway beside the deck and your existing walkway that wraps around the front of the house, you opted for the installation of SYNTHETIC GRASS. We installed approx. 140 square feet of Rymar Durablade 95 (S-Shaped) Synthetic Grass in this area.
