When we made the decision to purchase an older home, we new we wanted to have it completely renovated. We researched a few companies and was impressed with the design of Rectangle. We read all the reviews on this very website Homestars so we decided to work with Rectangle and was very excited to get started. We had no doubts based on the reviews, they have great design and excellent quality however we must have drew the short straw when our project manager was assigned to us. Without getting into all the details these are the issues we had, some of the general issues we had are: 1) We felt we had to follow up with the PM to frequently to ensure that everything was completed as expected. 2) I believe there were additional expenses that could have been avoided if the PM was on the ball 3) We must of have had a rookie plumber as we had issues with the plumbing fixtures in every room, either leaking, no cold water, no hot water, installed internal components backwards etc. 4) Final year end warranty walk-through - absolutely no contact or follow up from Rectangle to schedule the walk through as they said they would. Either way, we aren't totally disappointed with the end result, in fact we love it. However, I would have expected a project manager that had more experience that did not require someone to followup on a daily basis with them. Do we like their design: Absolutely Do we like their customer server: Absolutely not If you get a good project manager, I'm sure you will be happy with the end results, however based on our personal experience, we just can't recommend them, unless you feel like being the PM yourself.

RECTANGLE handled the complete renovation of our townhome, 4 summers ago. We interviewed several contractors and chose RECTANGLE based on their modern style, endorsements from previous clients, and the willingness of Shane and his staff to work within our budget. The 'look and feel' of our home suits us wonderfully.

While looking for a home in the inner City to accommodate our growing family, we came across two that almost fit the bill but were a little too small. Ironically both of them had been completely renovated by Rectangle. Not able to find something that fit our needs exactly, we decided to bite the bullet and find something in the right neighbourhood that was ripe for a complete renovation. Knowing we already loved their work, it was an easy decision to select Rectangle as our reno partner. Shane came to the house before we made the final purchase to give us a sense of what could be done which was invaluable. They recommended changes to the floor plans that maximized every corner of space that we never would have thought of. While the outside of the house looks the same, the inside has been completely transformed, but looks like it has always belonged. From start to finish the entire team was a pleasure to deal with and kept us involved every step of the way. I had my own ideas on a few things and they were always willing to research and accommodate our requests. They finished the project on budget, on time (which was very optimistic and tight), and most importantly, did an amazing job. We'd have zero hesitation recommending Rectangle to any of our friends and would use them again in a heartbeat.

After a lengthy process of interviewing renovation companies and checking references, in Feb 2012 we started our work with Rectangle. They fully renovated the main floor of our 1959 bungalow, and we are extremely happy with the results. We felt engaged along every step of the process, and found the entire Rectangle team very easy to work with. They are very professional and timely in their communication and issue resolution (nothing major, just the normal surprises you get renovating an old house). We have (and will continue to) refer them to friends and family looking for projects like this.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Obviously building a house is stressful, especially with a kid on the way, but Rectangle made it as easy as humanly possible. Very good craftsmanship, good communication, could always reach them when I needed...And they listened to our feedback. Have used them twice and would do so again.

I first heard of Rectangle through a referral and I really liked their design/build concept. After going through their website and seeing their work I got inspired to have them get their hands on a new home I just bought. Rectangle redid everything in this house from the exterior and the interior including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and restructuring of the house to create more open space. As you expect, there were some hiccups to deal with along the way but Rectangle handled everything in a timely manner and the communication between us was great. I liked Rectangle's work so much that I am now in the midst of creating a duplex project with them as an investment in the Marda Loop area.

Our experience with Rectangle has been thoroughly positive. We are thrilled with our custom modern home. From the outset, Rectangle was enthusiastically engaged in a collaborative effort to reflect our vision of our home within our budget. From their ability to create distinct and inventive designs, to their follow through with the building process, we have been satisfied customers. The process of building a custom home is time-consuming. The quality of the people you work with plays a major role in your overall experience, and the final outcome of your project. In our view, Rectangle has an excellent core group of committed and creative people. They have been easy to communicate with, and responsive whenever issues have arisen. We would not hesitate to use Rectangle again (and currently are, on our garage/gym project), and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build a quality custom home, that radiates first class modern design.

We built a new house with Rectangle and they had great modern design ideas for the house that we had envisioned. They were professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. We love the house we got in the end of it all and found the whole building process fairly smooth and enjoyable. We would highly recommend to build with Rectangle.

Originally we hired Rectangle to give a very old house that we purchased a little bit of lipstick. Once we thought it through the house was completely gutted and the Rectangle team was busy designing a new space. I really like the modern and sleak looking Rectangle brand. The team at Rectangle did a wonderful job with the design. They presented multiplel ideas until we could all agree on the best use for the space. They made use of exisitng window openings to save on costs and hired teh right kind of trades for a renovation project compared to a new build. We have been living in our house for 2 years now and we coudl not be happier with the finished product. Thanks to Shane, Brittany and the entire Rectangle Team.

After having initial meetings with a handful of architects we decided that Rectangle Design was the right company for our upcoming home renovation. Our home was a four level split with an unusable crawl space and many tiny rooms. Some of the other builders we spoke with didn't want to tackle a reno on our home, trying instead to talk us into tearing it down. We found Rectangle Design after seeing an article in a magazine which stated they specialize in modernizing older homes. We didn't necessarily need more space but we needed more usable space...larger closets, functional kitchen, larger areas for entertaining, more natural light and generally a better flow. Rectangle got it (and us) right away. I thought I had some good ideas and Rectangle always seemed to come up with better ones while still keeping things affordable. Their entire team was great to deal with from the beginning, right to the very end. Even our neighbours who had to put up with most of the construction noise etc. had nothing but raving reviews about how courteous the crews were. When it came time to choose fixtures, they made it quite painless. Our building time was as promised as well. We have been extremely impressed and feel so fortunate to have had such a great building experience with Rectangle...a creative, organized bunch who take pride in the end result. Rectangle Design does modern style perfectly. Sleek lines and funky, functional spaces without being stark or cold. Every project they do is unique and artistic in its own way. We love our home now!
