    Antennae installation

Nice guy, answers his phone, really responsive. Let me know he was running a little late. He answered lots of questions that weren't really directly related to the installation. Definitely gets our recommendations. Lowered the price after the fact due to easy access and a flat roof, what more can I say.

    Removal of old TV dish

Because we no longer use the TV dish that was fastened to our chimney and because its cable was flapping in the wind against the roof and the wall of the house, making loud banging noises, my wife and I wanted everything removed. HomeStars listings led me to Dr. Antenna. I phoned him and he promptly phoned me back. He asked a few questions and said he would take care of everything and he would do it right away. (It was Christmas eve, and it was no emergency, so we agreed he would arrive a couple of days later.) He arrived when he said he would with his wife, who assists him with his work, and they turned out to be a lively couple. His name is Christopher MacDonald -- I neglected to ask Mrs. MacDonald her first name! -- and he did a bang-on job, removing all the debris. I heartily recommend Dr. Antenna -- he is obviously a specialist who takes pride in his work. Thanks, Chris! -- John Robert Colombo, jrc@colombo.ca and he arrived with his wife

Antenna installation, lost connection after a few days

I bought all the necessary materials, including a decent Channel Master antenna. Christopher said that he would supply cable connectors. He did a great job aiming the antenna. Unfortunately, he used twist on connectors on the cable ends. I asked him why he was using the twist on connectors, and not professional crimped connectors. He explained that these were just as good. I didn't believe they were, but he insisted. I got plenty of channels at first, and then they all started dropping out, until a few days later there was no signal at all. I asked Christopher if he could come back, and do a proper installation, as paid for. He said that he could, but I would have to pay him another $100. I decided against it. I went to a supply store, and spent $40 on proper tools, and connectors. I went up on the ladder, and fixed it myself.

Antenna Tower Repair and New Antenna Install

I called Chris at Dr Antenna on a Monday to ask his advice on an over the air antenna setup I was looking to do. I had an old antenna tower that was attached to the house I moved into a year ago with an old antenna that didn't work. I was looking to install a new antenna on my roof to start receiving OTA television and wondered what I should do with the old tower. He stopped by the following day to take a look at the condition of everything. He suggested that I keep the tower, remove the old antenna and install the new one up there. He noticed that the tower itself had come away from the house over the years and wanted to re-attach it so it was stable. He gave me a quote of re-using the tower for the new antenna or taking it all down and installing the new antenna on the chimney not as high up in the air. He indicated the old towers are highly sought after now and can be quite expensive but they provide the best results. Even tho this option was cheaper he thought this was the way to go. So we scheduled a Friday afternoon appointment and he came out with a partner and tightened up the existing bolts of the tower and installed three more to stabilize everything. He scaled up the tower, removed the old antenna and broken rotor, installed the new antenna and came down to test the signal. After a tweak we were able to scan in a total of 51 channels. This is quite a large number for the GTA and said he didn't even receive 51 at his house. All the major US networks from NY are coming in clear plus the Toronto based stations all in HD. He fished the coax into my basement and terminated it at location I wanted and tested everything before he left. Highly recommended.

    antenna repair and setup

I installed an antenna on my home, how hard can it be! After 20 plus trips up and down the ladder to the roof, I could only get 7 channels. I phoned Chris at Dr. Antenna and left a message. Chris got back to me in short order. I explained my situation, sent some photos of the antenna. We agreed on what I consider a fare price to fix my antenna. Chris was out the next day and worked his magic. I now get 29 clear channels. I am very happy with the work Chris did. He is very professional and knows his business. Chris was on time, I would use him again. Greg

Install an antenna on my roof

I planned to try and roof mount an antenna myself, but after buying the hardware decided I needed professional help. Chris came to the rescue. He came by the house the day after I called and gave me a reasonable quote, and came back 2 days later to install the antenna I had already purchase. The difference between having the antenna in the house on an upper story and having it on the roof was about 10 channels (I can get about 25 channels now). He tested my TV and explained everything to me clearly. He tidied up all my coax cable on both sides of the house (even the cabling that Rogers had left messy bringing the internet to the house). He's a nice and respectful guy and gave me a great service.

HD Antenna install and hook up

Chris did a fantastic job. Thanks to him Rogers will no longer get our business. Chris installed a HD antenna on our roof. After installation, we only received 15 channels. He came back (no charge), moved the antenna and didn't leave until he was satisfied we were getting all the channels we should. We now get 25 free HD channels. Great guy. Reliable, honest, and is very knowledgeable about antennas! Highly recommended!!

    HD OTA Antenna

Chris showed up on time, prepared, and ready to work. We followed his suggestions regarding the type of antenna that would work best for our location. They installed it quickly, it works very well, and they calibrated it to maximize the number of channels and quality of reception. Chris also explained which channels we should received and what makes reception vary (decreased power on American stations at night, etc). He was friendly and professional and we are very satisfied.

    Ham Radio Antenna

I approached Chris with a custom ham (amateur) radio antenna and tower installation. This was to be a 21 foot vertical antenna mounted on a 20 foot tower with a 10 foot mast attached to my house. Chris and his assistant did a very professional job of putting up the tower and antenna. They followed my instructions in order to ensure that it worked properly and made sure that the lead in lines were properly secured. The antenna has performed perfectly as a result, allowing me to contact stations with good reports in Europe, Russia, South America and through out Canada and the United States. The antenna has been well installed and I have no fear of high winds or other weather related problems. I would not hesitate to suggest Chris to others as I found his price to be reasonable for the work he did (you couldn't get me up on that high tower if you paid me) and he was friendly and knowledgeable. He arrived on time, did his work quickly without rushing and left the work-site clean. It was a job I could not have done myself and it was worth every penny to be able to enjoy my hobby more fully with a good antenna up high enough to really get the signals out and catch the good ones coming in.
