received quote of $68,00.00 once job is completed, received an invoice for $68,000 Roof Whisperer admits to missing a 0 in the quote, but still demanding $68,000 RF has initiated legal action in order to collect $68,000 story as reported by Sean o’Shea of GlobalTVAnswer from pro:
Hi Anthony, It is unfortunate for both of us what happened. I did have a long conversation with you over the phone before we sent the quote. I did explain in details about steps needed to be taken and the Project on your house was going to be expensive in tens of thousands of Dollars and that was going to take couple of weeks. Yes we admit the error in typing and We apologize for that but that does not mean that someone should take advantage of it.We have not received any kind of payment from you nor you have taken any steps to resolve the issue. We were forced to take legal actions because we as contractors only have very few options to collect payments. We did install a great Roof System including gutters, soffits, fascia, Insulation, Atiic ventilation, skylights, flat roof , shingled roof, new roof deck and fixing vapor barrier. Hopefully We can allow the Courts to come to a fair resolution for both parties. Thanks again

Review left on 5 Jan 2016Rating: 5 out of 5Minor leak from the roof
Water was dripping through my washroom's exhaust fan. I looked in the Internet for help finding a suitable company. I called three companies, none had any live person to respond to my call. So I left a message on each. Two of them returned my calls. The third never did. The Mr. Roof and the Roof Whisperer gave the same quote. But the former couldn't promise to do the work for at least a few days. The Whisperer could do the work the next day. so I booked with them. I'm glad I did. Arthur, owner of the Roof Whisperer, came the next day with his assistant and investigated the leak. It was coming through nails holes on the roof. They sealed the holes around the exhaust and other adjacent area. It has not rained or snowed since the repair so I cannot say how effective has been the repair. But Arthur seems like a nice man with professional outlook. I trust he has done a good job.Review from Michael Heydon Michael Heydon
Review left on 2 Jan 2016Rating: 5 out of 5Eave troughs
Following the melt of the first winter snowstorm, I had a huge water problem due to old eave troughs. When Arthur heard about the living-room flood, he had Olti come to look at it an hour later. The crew came at 9 the next morning and installed amazing new eave troughs and downspout. Problem solved. The work was clean and really nice-looking, but most importantly, it fixed the problem. The crew were professional and, bonus, really nice guys. My next door neighbour asked them to replace his as well. They emailed pictures of his place, got an instant quote, that was very reasonable. He accepted and they did the work then and there.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

I recently had to have an emergency repair to my roof for a missing shingle which was causing a severe leak through my bedroom ceiling. Given inclement weather, and a refusal by the initial roofing company to send someone out to repair the roof, I found The Roof Whisperer. They agreed to send a crew of two out to my home at the end of the day to assess and repair. They arrived relatively promptly, which was fine. They found a missing shingle, repaired it, and stopped the leak. Again, all fine. However, aside from the seemingly exorbitant charge (approx. $500) for showing up for about 30 mins to repair the shingle and look around, there were serious issues with the company's professionalism and integrity. Firstly, after the repair, the crew members each told my wife and i that they anticipated massive damage to our attic and insulation. They pushed for us to create a follow-up call the next day on the insinuation that if we didn't get them back out, we could be looking at a $50K roof/attic/insulation repair. They also showed us pictures of the damaged portion of the roof they repaired and promised to email the pictures to us so we could have it on file to collect on warranty and insurance. Yet, when we tried to a) book a follow-up, there was no answer (by email or phone) and b) despite multiple calls and emails, no pictures were ever forwarded in the nearly 2 weeks since the repair. Thankfully, we never did get the follow-up. Instead, we had an independent contractor look in our attic (something the Roof Whisperer crew members didn't even do!) and determined we have no issues to worry about. So, in sum - Pros: They showed up when we had an emergency call. Cons: Scare tactics. No follow-up support. Exorbitant billing. Based on this one service call, I would not recommend this company.Answer from pro:
Hi Andrew, Firstly thank you for taking your time and writing about your experience with us. Criticism makes us reflect on our mistakes and makes us improve our customer service. We do prioritize roof repairs as the first solution by stoping any leaks protecting your home. Repair was done in timely manner and in very bad weather conditions. Shingles were missing around roof vent which was removed and shingled correctly. Guys did the repair while it was raining and dark outside. Most of roofing companies do not even bother coming by under those conditions. Your wife did agree on the charges (which are fair and based on our industry standards) after pictures were shown where roof was damaged. Roofing specialists did not intend to push you for a follow up other than making sure that integrity of your roof system is not compromised. Your roof was damaged and we just wanted to find out and inform you on any deficiencies since we could not assess it properly at that time. There are multiple factors that causes a roof leak. After going through all emails in the last two months we were able to find your email and I followed up with a couple phone calls and emailed you apologizing for missing to read your email. Roof repair on your house was done on the same day we had 50 mm of heavy rain and the next day we had a flood with emails and phone calls. That was unusual as we tried to keep up with emergency calls. We do take pride in our workmanship and take very seriously honesty and integrity and improve everyday to make customers satisfied by not using any scary tactics at all but making them aware of their roof problems. Every homeowner would want to know if something is wrong with their house. Once again I do apologize for not replying to your email and not sending the photos as promised. Regards Arthur

Review left on 28 Oct 2015Rating: 5 out of 5Roof Replacement; Siding; Skylight Installation
We required major work to be done on our roof and siding. Upon an exhausting search (most roofers didn't respond or show up) we quickly realized that The Roof Whisperer is the company we wanted to work with. Whilst they were not the lowest bid on the project, they were by far the best presentation and interaction we had in the early stages...very professional. Arthur showed up and provided a very thorough explanation of what needed to be done (and not done) as well as a detailed quote. Everything was done on time, on budget and the clean-up and attention to detail was amazing. Having dealt with contractors of all types and sizes over the years I can confidently say that The Roof Whisperer is not only the best roofer I have worked with, but best contractor experience over-all...highly recommend them.Answer from pro:
Thank you Mark, we appreciate your kind words and are glad that you are happy with our work.

We hired The Roof Whisperer after getting quotes from two other companies. We were impressed from the first telephone conversation with Jean to meeting Olti, who provided the quote and was on site. We had confidence in him from the start. Everything was precision from start to finish. The quote was provided quickly. The crews were on time. They were courteous and very professional. The work was perfect. When we received the invoice, there were no surprises. They exceeded our expectations, which isn’t easy to do.Answer from pro:
Thank you Sam & Penny for your review. We try our best to make sure everything runs smoothly and that there are no surprises.

Review left on 27 Sep 2015Rating: 5 out of 5Partial roof replacement
I contacted the Roof Whisperer about replacing the roof over my front porch. They sent an expert to look at it first and then gave me a detailed estimate. The work was done a week later. The roof looks great and all debris was removed on the day of the work plus they did a great job cleaning the steps, porch and bicycles that were on the porch. Polite and efficient - I would recommend then highly to neighbours and friends.Answer from pro:
Thank You Julie We try and make it easy on the home owner as well as the team, that way everything runs smoothly.

Review left on 25 Sep 2015Rating: 5 out of 5Skylight Replacement
As part of a home renovation, we wanted to get some work done on the roofing. This included the replacement of an acrylic skylight with a Velux glass skylight, replacing some damaged shingles, and fixing a hole in the edge of the roof made by a squirrel. We contacted several contractors and were most impressed with The Roof Whisperer. They were extremely professional from the quoting all the way through to project completion. They exceeded my expectations with the color matching on the shingles and even replaced some of the plywood around one of the vents that was damaged for no charge. We are extremely happy with the job.Answer from pro:
Thank you Cory We are please that we could help, and that we were able to meet your expectations. We love to hear that.
