American Standard 96% 2 Stage Furnace Install

Jafar and his crew are definitely worthy of the 10/10 rating. He was clear, patiently answered all of questions, concerns about the install, scheduled an install on 2 days notice and was by far the best price out of all 4 Contractors we quoted. He spent a 10 hour day installing, masterfully installed a complex condensation set up (we have a balcony, Jafar and his crew tactfully installed the vent along the beam of the Balcony). He had to cut a portion of the drywall from the room, but skillfully cut it in a perfect square and screwed it back on. Even tested all of the vents to be sure it was working properly and replaced the old filter. He didn't try to upsell me, gave a great deal, updated me throughout the day and even swept up after he left. We asked for Permits and made the mistake of telling him to go to the district of North Van, when it was City of North Van and Jafar just laughed it off and didn't give us a hard time about it. If you're looking for a great Heating/Air Conditioning Contractor, look no further than Jafar and Best Way Heating!

    Honesty, Honesty, Honesty

Jafar, the proprietor at Best Way Heating, is an amazing fellow. This is my third review of his business. This seems odd, even to me, so I want to make it clear that I am not affiliated with him or Best Way Heating in anyway except as a very satisfied customer. I had asked Jafar to attend my house for a furnace issue. He came the next day and immediately discovered it was simply the fan switch had been accidently thrown to operate in continuous mode; a simple flick of the switch fixed the issue. He also noticed that the induction fan ran for quite a long time before the ignitor came on so he cleaned a vacuum hose attachment tube, which solved this issue immediately. As I tried to pay Jafar for the callout he told me it wasn’t necessary, and absolutely refused to let me pay him for his time. What makes this all the more incredible is that it turns out that Jafar had been to my house a little earlier that day, before I was home, hoping that he could make the appt early. When he found out I wasn’t there he had the unfortunate luck to damage a very easily damaged portion of our strata building as he backed out (happens all the time). He put his company sticker on the damage and informed me he would be paying for the repair. When the quote for the repair came in, he refused my offer to pay half of the repair costs (as I felt responsible for calling him out unnecessarily and not paying him for his time.) Please call Jafar for all your HVAC/hot water needs. You will not be sorry.

    Furnace Repair

I have an old 1960s furnace that would sporadically cycle through its settings until it stopped working. I had two previous contractors look into it who both made no effort in resolving the problem and just tried to convince me to buy a new furnace. I know it is not "efficient", but I didn't want to spend 3X the cost of replacing it given the savings wouldn't offset the expense. I called Jafar in the morning and he came by late afternoon the same day. He took the time and proper steps to diagnose the problem and it came down to a dead motor, torn belt, leaking gas valve and improper limit switch setting. He was able to source a used, but fairly new motor and completed the install in a timely fashion. A week later, he came back to replace the leaking gas valve, adjusted the motor speed and limit switch settings. Afterwards, he took the time to explain what he had done and provided tips to help maintain my old furnace. I will definitely call Jafar again when it comes time to doing a full furnace replace. I fully recommend his services to anyone who is in need of a heating contractor.

    A very fitting name.

Jafar is awesome! We hired him months ago to do our furnace inspection after reading all the positive reviews online, & checking his BBB standing & certifications. We found him very thorough, personable, professional, & reasonable priced. He talked us through everything, gave some great advice, & we decided then we'd definitely continue to use him for our inspections. Fast forward months later. Today we smelled gas. Fortis came & didn't detect a problem but were not helpful at all. We called Jafar at 4:30. He was in North Van but said he could be here in an hour (we live in Port Moody & it was close to rush hour). He arrived at about 5:00, stayed for an hour thoroughly checking every possible cause of the smell. He even went with us to ask some neighbours if they'd smelled anything or been doing any work to cause the smell. Best of all...no charge!!

    Fireplace cleaning

First-time operator was friendly and let me and my kids watch him perform his work. Can't leave a 10* review because wasn't done right the first time. He left a noticeable mismatch in black paint color near the top, and along the sides where we had some masking tape. When reassembled, the lower grill didn't fully close like before. Thankfully, Jafar stands behind his company with good customer service. He came back out and did what it took to make it right.

sorry to hear that, please let us know the address (you can call me) and I will be there personally to make it up to you and perform a perfect job like all our other job. Jafar Im happy that you liked my work.

    Gas fire place servicing

I called in the morning and the technician arrived a few hours later. The fireplace needed a new generator and a cleaning. The power was out in the building but the technician was able to do his work without using a vacuum. Everything went smoothly and not a spot of soot was out-of-place. The fireplace operates very well now and looks new. Excellent work! I'm very satisfied.

    clean, and restart firepalce

The fireplace was unused for 5 years and quite dirty. I received an estimate over the phone and the final price was within the estimate and well worth it. The fireplace looks like new after being repainted, cleaned and thoroughly tested. Jafar was quick to make arrangements for the servicing and we are very pleased with the results.

Replacement of radiator and repair of boiler

Jafar is one of those exceptional people you come across from time to time. In April we had him remove a large radiator and replace it with a smaller one, as part of a kitchen renovation we were starting at that time. Based on emailed photos of our boiler, and a discussion over the phone, he provided a quote that was lower than others I received. This change-over of radiators was a last minute decision that needed to be done quickly; knowing this, Jafar found time in his busy schedule to get our work done right away. As it turned out, the job was more complex than originally anticipated, due to our hot water heating system being 55 years old. This necessitated that Jafar spend over 10 hours here, during which time he took no breaks. In the end, not only had he installed our new radiator, he identified and soldered a leak in the system and he took time to fully explain how this kind of heating system works, by showing me various components of the boiler. I tried to offer Jafar more than what he originally quoted, realizing that it ended up being a much bigger job than either of us expected. He insisted on not charging more, though, so I accepted his generous offer. I was very impressed with Jafar after this experience. Not only is he skilled in what he does, but he is a fine person: friendly, punctual, hard-working and honest. My intention was to put a good review for him [and other tradespeople we found on Homestars] after the renovation was over, but since we’re still working on this, I hadn’t yet gotten around to doing so. Something else happened recently, though, prompting me to post this review right away. Following Jafar’s service call in April, we used our heating system for a few weeks, before the warm weather took hold. Then, after our long summer wherein we obviously didn’t need any heat on in the house, I turned up the thermostat two mornings ago, to remove a chill in the air. The boiler didn’t come on, however, and so I called Jafar. He asked me to text him some photos of the system, so he could be sure of various internal components I could check first, before initiating another call-out. He determined that the problem was likely with power coming in to the boiler, which was preventing the electric igniter from allowing the gas flame to catch. We decided that I might want to have our electrician check things out first, so I contacted him to come take a look. He was busy and told me it would be a few days before he could come by. I was okay with this, given the weather’s being mild enough that having heat on in the house was not crucial. Then yesterday, after Jafar had finished a house call in North Vancouver, he offered to stop by to take a quick look at things for us, since the electrician had not yet been able to come. Jafar very quickly determined that a small fuse positioned near the boiler’s LED panel was blown, so he put in a new one. This one blew right away, too, which led him to conclude that somehow there was a short in the wire leading up to the thermostat. He followed this wire along its path through rafters in the ceiling, and was able to find a small section where the insulation on the wire had been sheared, after becoming lodged against a heating pipe during some other work done as part of the kitchen reno. Clearly, the combination of bare wire against metal was causing the short. Jafar wrapped the stripped section with electrician’s tape, popped in another fuse and the problem was solved. He was here for half an hour taking care of this issue, and supplied two fuses, and yet he wouldn’t accept payment for his work. He said he was in the area anyway, and he was happy to have been able to fix our problem without more fuss. I was so thankful for both his timing and his expertise in taking this job off of what had become a long list of things needing my attention, and I couldn’t believe that he didn’t want payment, especially since he was no doubt tired after a full day of work. So, all this to say that Jafar deserves high praise. As stated above, he is highly knowledgeable and skilled, but more importantly, he has a rare work ethic. He is definitely now my ‘go-to’ person for any heating needs, and I will refer him to friends and family who may need servicing or installation of boilers, furnaces, air conditioners or water heaters. Thank you, Jafar. You are the best!
