After advice and drawings from a structural engineer. Several walls were removed and support beams were put in place of load bearing walls in order to provide an open concept kitchen, living and dining area. Our house is circa 1950’s and was original design. It is a one and a half story. The kitchen floor had three layers of flooring with layers of plywood in between equaling 6 layers that were removed down to the original floor boards. The top layer was ceramic. There were at least 450 nails of varying lengths as part of the layers that made it extremely difficult and labour intensive to remove. Some as long as 3 inches. The original kitchen was completely gutted. A new sub floor was installed in the kitchen and the floor was levelled to install new hardwood throughout. A brand new kitchen with an island was installed as well as backsplash. All the walls on the first floor were repaired and painted. Included in this project was plumbing and electrical. There isn’t enough that can be said about Mark. I must say his youth belies his talent. He is also extremely reliable. One need not worry about him showing up for work regularly and on time. He is very passionate about what he does and aims to please the client. He wants to do the job right and well. I would hire him again without giving it a second thought. He is also genuinely nice.

Malcolm is truly a man of his word. He lives up to the quality he promises, and is one of the few contractors that my wife and I have enlisted who is genuinely concerned about meeting a deadline for work completion - even if it means after hours and/or weekend work. I say this after undergoing various renovation projects in our house over 8 years totalling around $50,000. He stikes a nice balance between offering ideas from his experience and listening to what the customer wants. I am quite detailed, yet he gave me practical, sensible reasons to change some of my ideas - and add one or two I had missed. In reviewing various contractors for this work we sought high quality workmanship - especially for a very visible and large 20' x 8' feature wall with recessed display pockets of different sizes and shapes, around a fireplace - and this at a fair price. Malcom delivered well on both accounts. We wish him contunued success. G

Mark from Finish Drywall showed up on time as scheduled and quickly set to the required repairs. His service was fast, personable and professional and he even went above and beyond to do some additional minor repairs. When he was finished, he cleaned up the garage and even wiped down the garage door where there was some drywall dust. I'd highly recommend Finish Drywall and will use them again in the future.

The work was completed to a very high standard of excellence. Being a perfectionist my standards are extremely high and they were exceeded. The craftsmanship and care taken were evident in everything undertaken. From start to finish the highest regard was demonstrated, including cleaning up after the job was completed. It is very hard to find workers who excel in their field, care and have integrity. I would highly recommend them for any job needed, either a large scale renovation or smaller items, all will be performed in a highly professional manner. You will not be disappointed!!

We hired Malcolm and his son Mark for our renovation. They were committed to finish the job on time with high quality. Their price was reasonable. We will definitely recommend them to our friends and will use them for our next project.

I had my kitchen and bathroom counters re-done with quartz and new backsplash. Malcolm was able to come in picture both colour and textile combinations that worked well for both rooms, and definitely brightened up my kitchen. He was also able to widen my breakfast bar to make it more assessable for eating at, which is a greatly added feature. The renos were done in less than a week, all mess cleaned up, and came in on budget!

Mark and his dad Malcolm did a fantastic job installing a pocket door between bathroom and bedroom including transition between tile and hardwood flooring and added a door to a den. Of 6 homestars drywall contacts, they committed to an aggressive deadline, and most importantly demonstrated remarkable care, commitment and flexibility and enthusiasm to deliver excellence. Wholeheartedly recommend Mark. Caring, committed, professional, excellence, fair. The best combination. Felt like they were doing the project for themselves. Thanks so much Mark and Malcolm!

Mark has really been proven angel in disguise, he has taken care of our long existing/ reoccurring mold issue in 2-washrooms. In 1st visit, he pointed out the root cause that the exhaust fans need to be upgraded and to make sure the exhausts are turned on when shower is taken he recommended the humidity sensor. I have not seen such a knowledgeable young man who is not only master of his specialty but also knows about the allied issues. Finally the day came when he came one the day decided at exact 8:00 am in morning, started work in a very professional way and secured all the areas which could be soiled. Work which was being done was not as simple as I imagined because it involved multiple coatings of mold cure, primer and final coats of paint. All done by the day end as promised but he said he was satisfied with couple of spots (which we couldn't notice) and he would come again next day. Long story short, this young boy left both our washrooms immaculately clean and as good as new. I wish there could be an option of more than five stars. Marcus did a very good job repairing drywall completing the job quickly and with little disruption. He left the area clean after finishing his work.

Mark and Malcolm were absolute sweethearts - candid and integreous; and not looking just to increase the value of the project. They gave us many recommendations in what to do as first time sellers, but also respected our decisions. WRT the work - was completed as itemized, and more! Mark and his team did the project with care as if it were his own homes. WRT timing - quick and ahead of schedule. All in all, they went above and beyond. As someone working in an career where I deal with many contractors and property owners, I have heard many horror stories of people being taken advantage of, overcharged, and left with a mess. I am so glad we are not part of this statistic; we are so lucky to have found these guys and had them give us a great experience of what proper contracting work should be like!
