No power to washroom exhaust fan

Lights and outlets in the washroom work, however the exhaust fan does not. The fan does work when plugged into an extension cord, as it has a 2-prong connector, but not when it is plugged into the outlet inside the housing. The fan was turning on properly up until last week. What could the issue be?

Either the wire to fan is short circuit or not having power or faulty switch
