A leaking shower faucet is usually caused by a worn cartridge, valve, or seals inside the valve body. In most cases, the fix involves: • Shutting off the water supply • Removing the handle and trim • Replacing the cartridge (most common issue) • Inspecting for worn O-rings or mineral buildup If it’s dripping from the head when off → likely a faulty cartridge If it’s leaking behind the wall or trim → could be a valve or connection issue I’d recommend addressing it sooner rather than later, as even a small drip can lead to higher water bills and potential damage. If you’re not comfortable opening the valve, a plumber can diagnose and replace the cartridge quickly.

Some of the times the valve body needs to be replaced. Sometimes the handle is loose so you put some thread locker (blue holds. Red locks) on the screw and tighten with Allen wrench the correct size. Sometimes like my shower there is a sweet spot where the handle closes the valve 100%. It takes time and patience to find it.

To fix a leaking shower faucet, turn off your main water supply, remove the handle screw, and pull out the internal valve cartridge to replace it with a matching new one. If the leak is dripping from the spout, a worn cartridge seal is letting water slip through; if it leaks from behind the handle, a degraded O-ring is the culprit. Replacing this small internal part typically stops the leak instantly without needing to break into your bathroom wall.
